Everyone is making the claim that they were able to use the bb movers coupon. i think thats a lot of bull. bb wont take the coupon unless you have proof of an actual move in the past year {or can fake one.}and, in fact, i gather bb now wont take the coupon at all.
Used many times as well, never had issue.
Same here....Not sure where RUGGLES99 is getting their information, but I've used them 3 times in the past year (iPad and two apple watches). Just hand them the coupon and get your discount....no questions asked!

I was personally told at my local BB that they no longer honor this (I have not tried ordering online with in-store pickup) but my coupon did not have a promo code...just a barcode and they stated they no longer honor it. I don't know if this is a geographical issue or what but I fought like hell in person to have them honor it and they wouldn't, maybe im just an unlucky person? :(

Online is where it has to be used. If you have the 10 percent off physical coupon, you probably won't get anywhere with it in store. Go to eBay, search Best Buy 10 off online. Buy one of those and apply the coupon code to your online order for in store pickup. Works every time, even on open box.

I will say that these are getting harder to come by. The Post Office packet no longer has them and like you said, in store it is next to impossible anyway. eBay is the way to go. They will set you back 25 bucks or so but its worth it to save 100.

This Tuesday I went to USPS and the Movers coupon don't have best buy listed anymore. Ended up using edu coupon.

I'm really happy I did this as none anymore all colors here in Connecticut

I made a similar reply to this earlier in the thread but I bought a "Best Buy Geek Squad Open-Box Excellent - Certified" MacBook last week and it looked as if someone used it for a day (or less) and took it back. The machine is flawless and looks/works as if it's new. It's a bit of a toss up but I'd personally just save the $100+. You can always take it back for an exchange/refund if you're not happy with it of course.

That is exactly what I have seen. Most open box "excellent" are just returns because the person had a change of mind.

What miscreant software did Bucket Buy geek squad install on said system? I'd be inclined to do a new OS install myself if I knew they had tainted the configuration

When I powered on the laptop, it instantly took me to the initial OS X setup process by Apple.

So, about two weeks in with the base, space grey. I'm super happy with it. My intent was to just keep this until the refresh and then get a peppier model and hand this one to my wife.

However, I'm not sure that's going to happen. This thing is running just fine. I'm running Citrix based apps and some Office for Mac. I also run Win 10 in a VirtualBox and it runs just fine. I've only had one instance of slowdown when I first moved over the VirtualBox image from my other notebook and fired it up. The first few hours I used Windows, I saw some slowdowns, but somehow it seems to have optimized since then and it's running great now.

I also love the keyboard. I'm an instant convert and can no longer use my work notebook (Dell) without constant frustration. The screen on this thing is great. I have pretty good corrected vision, so I can fit multiple windows side-by-side to get work done. Going to get the HDMI adapter once prices cruise down a little

My oldest should be getting the next .edu coupon later this week. Probably going to get another one if the sale holds.

pretty much my exact experience. even after a week or so of use i intended to get the updated version upon release, but....... why? this notebook meets all my expectations (exceeds in many regards) especially for less than 900. looking like ill just keep it, be happy using it daily, and be content.

for those still on the fence, i would suggest to try one out. Either you return it and know where you stand, or are pleasantly surprised with the performance.

I also jumped on it with the BB prices plus 10% off movers, needed the 512gb so this was a great deal (I also had some GC balance from BB). So far I'm very happy with it, super light, the screen is great to look at, and battery life is fine (it's not the longest ever, but it's fine IMO).

Yes. And seriously, get in control of the paranoia folks. If worried just install the OS from bare metal. It isn't rocket science.

I checked my open box serial # against Apple's website and it wants me to register. Waiting for Monday just to be sure, but saving $600 on the 1.2/512 config vs MSRP will make it a tough sell to return this 2015 model and go with whatever shows up.

As mentioned in my previous post; what's to lose? A $20 eBay certificate? For the 1.2/512 config it's about a $600 difference (*) unless MSRP changes. See what shows up on Monday. Return and buy new version if the changes are worth the price difference. Chalk up the $20 as buying an "option".

(*) depending on tax, including 10% coupon, and assuming no sale on the new version

So...how can i get in on good deals? I think its $999 for my local best buy, but you guys are getting $600 off? Wtheck

I'm very surprised not even a silent spec bump for the rMB was made when the store went back up.

Either way, I am very happy with my new rMB I got from best buy that just arrived today. I watched the keynote from it and using it now. Such a great little device!

My "$600 off" comments were based on:
Openbox 1.2/512 config for $1144 (or GeekSquadCertified openbox for $1183), less 10% coupon from ebay (cost $20), plus 6% sales tax = $1111
MSRP on a brand new unit had a new version been released, assuming no price change would be $1600, not considering coupon (expires 3/31 and possibly not available again soon), plus 6% sales tax = $1696
Difference = $585
Close enough to $600 for discussion purposes.

Click where it says "Open-Box from $1,143.99"

Click on the relevant links for Open-box Excellent or Geek Squad Certified descriptions.

Repeat same with whichever model/config you wish.

Apple - MacBook® - 12" Display - Intel Core M - 8GB Memory - 512GB Flash Storage - Space Gray

There is this one available right now at a local store.

Is this the highest spec'ed?

Is open box, excellent good as new and trustworthy with no issues? Ahhh im so tempted to buy this.

What if the macbook in a few months is that much better?
[doublepost=1458595633][/doublepost]Ugh all they have is gold! Its not meant to be for me...

Should be able to get one shipped.

The condition is supposed to be as listed. My was perfect; not a single sign that it wasn't brand new apart from not having the various plastic wrap bits. It'd had the OS reinstalled so it turned on just like a fresh new one.

If you don't care for it Best Buy offers 14 day return. Or is it 15? Best to never go down to the wire with such things anyway.

As for highest spec; you can order a custom-build 1.3GHz / 512GB system, but those top spec CPU systems are often not worth the price delta for most folks. Really, for a lot of people the 1.1G/256GB systems will be plenty; I knew I wanted the additional space (can't be upgraded later) so I ponied up the extra money
[doublepost=1458605289][/doublepost]oh and the "what if the next one is so much better" question exists no matter what you buy or when. There's always something better coming down the road. Currently it seems unlikely to see anything but a slight cpu/battery boost but you never know.

Worst case, you sell what you have and buy the new one if it's sufficiently great to justify the price difference.
