Yeah, same thing here. Going to be one depressing weekend if Best Buy does not pull through. Looks like we are stuck!
Best Buy's website doesn't even show iPhone 5s's in store (to pickup, or just "in store only") at all now (based on my zip code), in any of the stores near me, or within several hundred miles.
Here's to hoping someone starts getting emails stating the items ready for pickup. Glad I've got my backup plan in effect (Best Buy is my "if all else fails" plan), so hopefully if Best Buy does flop it, it won't hurt so bad. Still would suck though, as they still can't get their act together. Remaining hopeful.

If I remember correctly Best Buy totally screwed up a few years ago with an iPhone launch... taking preorders for way more iPhones then they actually had. Hopefully this isn't happening all over again... they don't seem to be the most prepared retailer around
8AM here on the east coast and still no word from Best Buy, beyond the first "wait 45 minutes" confirmation email.
When I tried to call it just said the store is still closed since only the mobile department is opening early.
If most of the stores open at 10am, we should start seeing emails soon saying the phones have been reserved.
Only the Best Buy Mobile department is open. The rest of the store is closed. The Store Operator cannot even answer the phone until the complete store is opened by the manager which allows the calls through. Best to just go to the store.

Still showing "Checking" on order status, But maybe they only had limited set quantity orders that can be paid for online and picked up in store.

Did your store open at 8 or 10?
Keep in mind that the inventory on bb.com is not "real time" for store pickup.
This has happend to me multiple times in the past when ordering online,
I have received a order email, then another email were they have charged me, then a email saying ready for store pickup, but then 5 min later a CS REP calls saying its not available at that store, but they can search another store.

If you read the excerpt from the press release I pasted below. The 5S was never supposed to be available for in store pickup. It was a mistake at corporate, so now we will see how the stores handle this. Good luck to all of you!
