Is this expected behavior from Best Buy or a glitch where someone forgot to disable in store pickup on the website?
 
They receive the web order, manually pick the product, take it to the pickup window, scan your order, wrap your receipt around the item, then hold it for pickup.

The bestbuy workers are home sleeping and probably dreading tomorrow.

Interesting. I received the confirmation instantly, but there is no mention of the 45 min

Straight from the email I received:

Please wait to pick up your order
Your order contains at least one pre-ordered item which will be available at the store on or after the release date. We will send another e-mail notifying you when your order is ready for pickup. This notification will arrive in less than 45 minutes, as it takes us just a little time to get items ready for pickup in our stores.

Got a ready for pickup e-mail from the Best Buy in Union Square, NY (open 24 hours). They said mine is set aside for pickup anytime after 8 tomorrow morning. Manager said it was guaranteed and I didn't have to wait in any lines.
 
Took me nearly an hour to receive a confirmation email, and now my order status has changed to this:
Order Status:: 1 item(s) - Confirming Store Inventory
 
do best buy have late night workers who do all this preparation

Sales managers are required to clear all web orders one hour before the store is open. Then the pickup clerk (web order associate) will be in to take over all orders after that.

It is the standard ready for pick-up e-mail. The Union Square Best Buy is open 24 hours and is near my apartment. I walked in to pick it up about 20 minutes ago and the manager came out and told me to come back at 8:00.
 
Now how is it possible that my Sales Tax & Fees are $90.16? I ordered the 64GB at $399 and I should be taxed on $849 correct? The math is not working out somehow...

tax is on 899, guess nobody reads the thread as its going pretty fast
 
I just ordered a 64GB spaceman one, all they had was 32 or 64 so I said screw it. I'm still heading to Verizon in the next couple of hours to see if I can get it there, worst case (and only because I'm so weary of Best Buy really HAVING the phones), if I get one at Verizon I can always cancel the BBY order.
Got the email saying the order contains are pre-ordered item blah blah blah, so I hope that doesn't mean that they'll go in and bounce all of the orders everyone has placed back, in favor of those who they already had "pre-orders" for in store. Best Buy is really dirty like that, so I won't be surprised.

I don't think they forgot too disable store pickup at all. Think about most people going to Best Buy or Apple store to get iPhone and not walking out with at least something new for your new purchase! A case, cloth to clean it, something you needed when you went to Best Buy or Apple anyway:)

So is everyone just buying unlocked? I still can't get any love when getting bounced out of bestbuy.com and over to their upgrade site, even though bestbuy.com is showing the phone available at my location...grr, argh, etc. :)
 
If I add a new line it isn't added until I activate the iPhone or at least pick it up, right?

Bought 32 gb space gray, unlocked. $799 hurts but I want to save my upgrade for next year.

I dont know if its unlocked, but off contract ? yes for me. Full Price

Thanks everyone. I also did the $50 gift card offer earlier this year is the only reason I ordered from Best Buy. Otherwise I would have ordered from Apple and waited patiently.
 
Unless there are employee's there picking and scanning product, and I HIGHLY doubt that, we will all receive our confirmations when they start working in the morning.

Regardless of when the "ready to pickup" email comes, it sounds like from what you're saying is that we can just get there when they open. Right?
