I bought my MBA 2011 13" 128 from BB yesterday for $1235. It is the current sale price of the new MBA. This is my first Mac, and I love it!

Oh, even better! I bought the same model and it's also my first Mac. Very pleased :D

I don't think I could ever go back to my huge Toshiba now.

I believe it ended last Saturday. The sale was for the old MBA originally but the sale overlapped the day they arrived at stores. The new ones were not out when I picked mine up, they had only 3 of them in the back fresh off a truck.

I had them hold one for me saturday that I picked up later that afternoon. They told me that the sale ended that night.

It's still going on this week. The employees don't know anything so they are just trained to say that all sales end on Saturday because they don't find out any earlier than everyone else what the new ones are.

My Best Buy sold out of the new Macbook Air's within 3 days of receiving them but I called today to see if they had any in stock, the lady said they had just one so I had them put it on hold for me. Went to the store and found out it was the 13" 128gb/4gb ram model I wanted and it was on sale for $1,234.99 but it had been returned by someone who didn't want it, so they were giving an extra 10% off. Checked it out and it had the Samsung SSD on it so I told them I'd buy it, got it for $1,190 including tax plus got the $100 BB gift card as well. I'm supposed to go get it tomorrow, they had to restore the settings back to normal from where the customer had changed some settings. Looking forward to getting it, crossing my fingers and hoping it doesn't have any problems. Got extremely lucky though to get one at such a good price!

I was about to do the same thing...Is BB and Apple store both sold out?

I live in delco and I wanna hit up the springfield BB in hopes that they will throw in the 100$ card. Anyone have any luck?

Hey, a fellow Delcoer! I got my MBA at the Springfield BB. I wish I knew the sales associate's name, but he was a jolly middle-aged man with gray hair. That should be enough of a description if you happen to see him since most of the computer sales associates are younger guys.

You'll have to ask for the $100 gift card but they should give it to you with manager approval. They gave me an iTunes gift card, but I didn't really mind either way.

When I bought mine on Saturday one associate mentioned they literally were shipped in the night before, so you may want to check their stock tomorrow and then hit up the Springfield BB early Saturday morning if they're out of stock. I'd assume Christiana Mall is still out of stock as well. Ardmore, KoP, and Walnut Street probably have some stock because -- like I mentioned -- people generally put forethought into a >$1,000 purchase, in which case it makes sense to go to Christiana's Apple Store to skip sales tax.

Thanks for responding bigp9998

Yeah they honestly are under no obligation to give both the sale price and the $100 gift card and I would not have faulted them at all if they would have said I could take either the $1234 price or the $1250 price match + $100 GC (easy decision). It's clearly a matter of luck--you just have to get an employee/manager who is willing to give the $100 GC and the sale price.

I agree wholeheartedly, I would too unfortunately the manager said he would offer me the $100 GC but then he would charge me $1599 for the Air.
The original price of the Air you bought is $1299, you still get a price break with either of options with your $100. But as you said he's under no obligation.

I'd just like to be treated fairly.

Thanks for responding radiohead14 :) So the 18 months financing is not a factor

that's straight up horsesh*t given to you by that manager. i got mine with the discounted sale price, $100 gift card, AND the 18 month financing. speak to a different manager

Papanate

I generally shop exclusively on Amazon. But the BB sale $1235 (128) or $1499 (256) plus the $100 GC (if you get it unlike my situation) is one of the best deals right now. Amazon has no stock. Other vendors you may have to add on tax depending on your location. There's a host of factors.
Traditionally Amazon discounts brand new Apple products only a coupla bucks ($5) but the no-taxation and free shipping sometimes works about to be a $140 saving on a new launch product.
Apple's list is $1299 or $1599, plus add tax. If you're a student you get a $50 price break PLUS $100 App card, which effectively negates the taxation.

Summary:
Apple list $1299 or $1599 PLUS tax
Apple Edu promo $50 off plus $100 PLUS tax
Amazon $5 off, no tax no shipping NO stock currently
BB promo $1235 or $1499 plus $100 GC (if you lucky to get to) plus tax (unless exempt as some posters have indicated)

(Geez what's with me and these long posts  I find it annoying too , sorry )

ps. don't want to getting into a discussion on the "site-tax" or "buy tax" that states have implemented where one has to declare out of state purchase and declare on your personal taxation.

My Best Buy only had the 13/1.7/128 in stock on Thursday. I paid $1134.99 + TAX.

ntrigue

So they applied $100GC to the sale price at the till?

It would be nice if we got a BB Corporate official line on all these sales

Contact them via email. It's on their website. They'll respond. At least they did when I asked.

Thanks for the advice jlc1978 :) I might do that (next time)

Update:

Long story short. Returned the Air (256) back to original BB, decided to spend my money(so to speak) else where. Seeing from the posts on this thread the law of averages seem to indicate biggest success with the Air (128).

Different BB
SUPER nice sales-lady set the tone. Got the 13 (128). $1235 discounted further by nice Mac guy $35 put me at $1200. Haggled for $100CG with Mac guy, sales-lady backed me up by confirming the edu promo. Got a SKU from supervisor. $100 GC in hand.

$1235-$35 PLUS $100GC + tax AND 18months 0% SUCCESS!

So basically $1100 plus tax 18 months 0%

Looking back, as another poster already mentioned would I have done this again? NO. It was a slow 'news' week so I was like a dog with a bone.

Going to open my new Macbook Air (from Powerbook 17" 1.33 to a handme down black Macbook, looking forward to it.)

Back in my hole, lurking. :)

I don't understand the $35 they are giving you. How are you getting the price discounted another $35 from $1235? I am wondering if my BB would give me the same deal you got.

@ntrigue: I see.

@tech324: I was fortunate. Total fluke. This was before my request for the $100GC came into play, he just took off the additional $35. Don't expect this to be the norm. I would have been happy with the listed sale price of $1235. It was getting the GC that was the bone of contention in my quest.

BTW, if I purchase the mac book air in BB does BB come with their set of warranty? If so am I still eligible for normal apple standard warranty?

It comes with the standard Apple warranty (1-year P&L, 90-day phone support). You can still upgrade this to 3 years by purchasing Apple Care from Apple. Not sure if they sell it in Best Buy or not--if they do, I'm going to use my gift cards/certificates to buy it there. Best Buy's own warranties are crap and overpriced as hell.

So I guess the sale is running longer than employees said it would. Awesome. Everyone should get in on it. Despite losing out on a free printer (Best Buy still offers printer discounts), this is definitely the best deal for Airs right now. BB gift card > Apple itunes card any day of the week. Also, their discount is > education discount.

Go Best Buy.

Going in after work today. Will post an update after I get back.

Just bought MBA 13 inch from Best buy, yesterday. An associate knew about 100 dollars gift card offer. It is unadvertised. He did ask for my ID and I showed it to him.

I live in Maryland and tax is 6%.

I paid 1134.99 dollars for my macbook air and at the end, it came out to be around 1203.09. However, the system was acting up at the bestbuy so bad...

They could not ring up my gift card as one transaction. So, I had to purchase it, separately. The 100 dollars gift card was purchased for 100 dollars.

At the end, I paid 1203.09 dollars for a laptop and paid 100 dollars for 100 dollars gift card. Don't ask me why and how this did happen. Those best buy computers are utterly piece of crap. The staffs were nice enough for me to not to complain. It took me 5 minutes to get everything ready, but I wasted 30-40 minutes at the register. He took me to 4 different registers because the systems were down.

1 more thing...

I went to best buy on Sunday for private shopping. They were sold out of MBA 13 inch. I asked an associate if I could buy one today and pick one up later because I wanted those triple points. (I am not interested in opening another credit card for quad points)

He said yes, but I would not get triple or quad points on apple products.

I argued and left the store empty handed. I found out that he was wrong and I was right about triple points.

I filed a complain to corporate and they are honoring me triple points for it.

Bottom line to MBA shoppers at best buy: Good luck and don't give up. There are plenty of best buys around my Area and the experience will vary. You just have to fight for it a bit.

Update: I was also lucky enough to get both Samsung Display and Samsung SSD. Samsung and LG displays have both weakness and strengthens, so I do not care. But, Toshiba SSD is noticeably slower than Samsung's.

Be an idiot if you have to... But, if you hold your laptop more than 2 years, then you should never settle for less. I mean we are all paying same amount of money for it. Why should some get slower components and some get faster components? That's freaking unfair. These laptops cost 1000 dollars or more.

Plus the Reward Zone points that one will incur with a purchase from BestBuy, which will result in some extra dollars off the MBA purchase. :D

Hey, I got similar crap about the triple points not being honored from one of the BB store that I went to on Sunday too. :( You can read all about it (post #115) in this thread. I admit that I'm a lousy cheapskate but do you think if I complain to BB corporate about my incident, they will honor the same deal for me?

Short answer is yes, but it really depends on which rep you get.

This is why. I did not file a complain once. I filed it 4 times. I filed one on Sunday. They usually respond less than 1 business day. Today is Friday. I filed another one on Tuesday and Thursday. I also sent emails to reward zone team as well as best buy customer service team.

Finally, the person answered my complain and they are honoring it.

Bottom line is keep trying. I was so lucky enough to get triple points and both Samsung panel and SSD.

I urge people not to give up those triple/quad points. If you were used like me and speedJJ, then complain. This is not because you want to be mean. You are asking for something that was promised and it should be yours. You could get triple or quad reward zone certificates from this transaction. That's like 50-75 dollars difference in certificate. I am using that for my iPhone 5.

Thanks for the tips & I appreciate that. :)

I'm going to contact BB about it. Hopefully, BB will be willing to grant me those extra Reward Zone points & that the sale price still exists after they get back to me. :)

Went to my Best Buy, and they have it advertised with the discount. Walked out with 2011 11" 128 GB. Had a $50 gift card and $60 in rewards. Got a $100 gift card. Not a bad deal. Trying to get my wife to like MAc so I can get her one tomorrow.

Nice! For those of you in the Irvine/Tustin area, the BB in the Tustin Marketplace didn't honor the extra $100 GC offer. However, the BB in the District did. The salesman just talked to the manager and I got the $1499 I5 256 with the GC. They said it was for educational use only and I just told them that I'm buying it for my younger brother who's in school. No ID required.
