I am using the iOttie Qi mount (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0754NDNT8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) attached onto my proclips custom base in my car. Wireless charging works flawlessly and all I have to now do is slap the phone into the cradle and off I go, with it charging wirelessly. Great option. Plus, the new iOttie is capable of fast wireless charging the iphone, once Apple decides to allow for this. (Common Apple, why you holding back on this!!???). Right now it says it will charge at the standard rate, but the voltage output for the mount is higher so it should charge faster once Apple enables it.

Just bought now after reading the posts here, from iOttie owners. In the past I've experienced problems (with other brands; not iOttie) with the gel pad. The "stickiness" deteriorated as time passed. So far, I'm pleased with the firm mount on the base, even on textured surfaces. Time will tell (unless someone here can attest to the longevity) if this holds up over time. That said . . . I was impressed with the quality of this mount. All joints, including the ball joint are firm and not flimsy. I, also, like how the phone snaps into place and is firmly seated.
Thanks to everyone who posted about iOttie! This seems to be just what I was looking for!

So here’s my dilemma. I want a car mount that wirelessly charges. I don’t want one that looks like a medieval torture rack (iOttie One Touch). I would go with one of the magnet mounts like Scosche makes, but l don’t have a case on my phone and sticking one of those plates to the back destroys the look.

I’ve bought and returned 6 different mounts now. Can’t anyone recommend a solution?

Completely agree. I'm hoping to use a Scosche magnetic mount and find a small ring magnet that matches the colour of the phone.

Man, I feel your pain. I want to use a clear case, but I don't want a magnetic plate eyesore attached to my phone. That just leaves me with all these chintzy looking mounts that have spring-loaded arms.

The only solution I can think of is to have 2 iphone cases that I have to switch every time I drive: one clear, and one black that hides the plate. I can live without wireless charging.

I’ve been using the Anker CD car mount. Works great with my X. No issues with faceid.

Sounds good. If didn't use my CD slot, I'd probably go that route.

That looks nice. Do you have to insert or attach a plate to the back of your iPhone or case? Looks like it's magnetic.

Kenu Airbase Pro is worth looking at.

That’s the mystery lol. I email their support and they told me everything is included for the phone. I do have metal ring from others I’ve tried. Just looking for a stronger magnet.

Really interested in this. I'd like to not have to use a metal plate and go caseless and this APPEARS to have "nano material" (whatever that is) that could maybe be sticky to the back of the phone enough to hold it.

Wonder how upright it can be and still hold the phone? Please update us when you get it!

I received this an it’s not a magnet. It’s some kind of sticky material that’s not sticky to the touch but sticks to the phone/case. It holds the phone on pretty good. Better then any magnet so far. I’m not afraid it will fall off. I’m using it with a Apple leather case. Will update after a couple of days of use.

that's cool! If you can, can you post some pictures of your setup? Specifically, how upright can the phone be before it falls off?

It comes with both a vent mount and a stick on mount. Very happy with it. Will consider going without a case now.

Very cool thanks for the pics. And it won't fall off going over bumps or anything?
Drove about 40 mile with 3 round abouts and it’s doesn’t come off. Before I attached it to the car I shook it pretty good and was amazed how well it holds. The only question I would have on it is longevity. I have no idea what the material is that they use to hold the phone on. The only thing the instructions say is to wipe lint of with a microfiber cloth to help the phone hold stronger.

Thanks for posting about this one. I currently use a magnetic vent car mount and can't imagine going to something that isn't magnetic, but this looks like it could do the trick! Is the case required for the phone to stick?
