Normally a Spigen fan but not this year. As others have mentioned the button covers are more like slits and leave a small a small opening for dirt and scratches. It's less noticeable on the clear case but I still don't like the functionality of the design. I believe the ultra hybrid has this but you may want to confirm. (I bought the liquid crystal and liquid armor)

I bought the ESR and it will probably be my go to. Seemed solid with normal button covers. Also fairly low profile which is what I was looking for. Excited to try it out.

Did you see the Caudabe that was mentioned in this thread? That also looks good but I went with a cheaper one from Amazon until more options were available.

Thanks for the response. I did see the Caudabe case that was mentioned but for the price, I also decided to look at the cheaper one.

Caudabe much more quality overall. Been using for years.

That's been my experience as well. I've had the Sheath and loved it, but am trying their new Lucid Clear as well for the X. It looks to be like a hard plastic, rather than the "TPU" ones that will definitely yellow (that ESR looks like it's probably TPU in those photos). I've used those clear TPU ones before and they look nasty after a few weeks.

Same for me! I'll see tomorrow when the X arrives! I expect the Lucid to be great

I chose this case for the moment - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075G85B7F/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's clear with color on the outside. I received it the other day, doesn't look too bad. I want to be able to see my phone through the back, but I don't like the look of clear cases much. I may end up getting an apple silicon case in white for the silver phone.. I just hate spending $40 on a case - best cases I have bought previously have been from Amazon for around $10-15.

This one - great protection and looks good as well.

I wonder why they chose to cover the bottom portion in black. Not a bad looking option though.

Same with the Otterbox (same one) on my iPhone 6s Plus except it has gray instead of black. Actually, I kind of like that lower 4th "leather touch". It gives this case a distinct look.

Would a hard plastic be less effective at absorbing the impact from a drop? And would it risk scratching the stainless steel?

Clearly protected skin from Otterbox.

Almost invisible case and stil well protecting my iPhone X. Very good grip, i also have an Apple leather case and (i have the phone now for 3 hours) already it slipped out of my hands to the floor. Luckily no damage. The Otterbox skin has just arrived and i have put it right on. Great !!!

so just starting to play with my clear cases, now I received my silver X.

Ringke - the air seems a little cloudy and less clear than the fusion. The fusion is nice and clear, and is pretty slim. It wraps around the front a tiny bit which has the effect of reducing the bezels a little bit. But it does cover up the chrome edges - you can see from the sides but from the front the case obscures them. Doesn't have a cutaway on the bottom for the swipe home gesture, so you'll always be flicking over the raised edge of the case which could get annoying. Doesn't seem to affect the gesture though

Caudabe - Got a Lucid Clear and its almost perfect but has one dealbreaker. Its super slim when on, and in terms of protection without detracting from the phone, its great. It does feel a little slippery in the hand though. The dealbreaker is that it doesn't seem to have any front screen protection - no lip at all. Not sure if it was supposed to, but this pretty much kills it for me. their box says 'raised edge screen protection' so I'll have to contact them and see what they say. Particularly disappointing as this was the most expensive for me.

Spigen - Ultra Hybrid is really hard to get on, and it has slots in the bottom corners on the back which will let dust in. So almost immediately a no. The Liquid crystal doesn't have the slots in the back and looks pretty much identical. feels a little thicker in the hand, and looks a little 'lumpier' than the Ringke, but otherwise ok. Same as the others, no cutaway on the bottom.

So from my initial look at the cases I have with me, the Ringke Fusion seems the better one for now. But maybe Caudabe will provide a replacment with a decent lip - if so that definitely looked the nicest.

I got the Caudabe Lucid Clear too and am loving it. It looks gorgeous on my white iPhone. Very slim too, as you mentioned. I'm actually not bothered by the lack of a lip for one pretty key reason - the home button requires a swipe up from the bottom now. No lip makes that motion with my thumb much smoother. I've got the Caudabe Sheath as well (which has a more substantial lip) and I think I prefer Lucid Clear better because of this one point. Sounds silly, but I'll be swiping up from the bottom constantly (not to mention changing apps with a side swipe from the bottom). I'm going to put a screen protector on this anyway, so the lip doesn't provide any functional advantage for me.

Yeah, Maybe I need to live with it. But then I'll want a really nice screen protector - something that goes edge to edge and feels like it is built into the phone. Have had partial coverage ones before and I don't like the way they sit in the middle of the phone with a distinct edge around them.

The Caudabe is a fairly hard case. Do any of you see hairline scratches on the stainless steel bands caused by repeated on/off of the case and rubbing of the hard edge? The TPU don't look as nice but they will not scratch the stainless that may be more susceptible to scratching than aluminum. I'm afraid to put mine on.

Still waiting on my X to be delivered today. I️ got the caudabe yesterday. Do you feel the openings for the buttons too big also? This is my concern.

Hey guys

Anyone who received their new phone put it in a clear case? Just looking to get some ideas on the good ones and see how the phone actually fits inside. I see Amazon has a bunch but all the reviews are just the case not actually paired with the phone.

Don't worry about scratching stainless steel. It's like on the Apple Watch or any other high end watch - the scratches can be polished off. Check this out: https://9to5mac.com/2015/04/26/apple-watch-fix-scratches/.

Apparently the button holes are supposed to be bigger on one side, according to their website: https://www.caudabe.com/products/lucid-clear-iphone-x?variant=49303218767. Makes sense, it does make the buttons a lot easier to press, especially for the fat fingered among us (ahem). Like I said, I'm loving this. I have the new Sheath too, which I actually like better than my old one, but I'm going with Lucid Clear for now. IT's great to be able to see my phone again finally, lol

Yep, I've already got a screen protector on the way. I've always had them. Cheap protection and they feel nearly as good as the naked iPhone screen.
