Looking at a new mouse for my Mac.Spotted on the Razer site, the Death Adder.Forget the name, but it seems this is a 5 programmble mouse with USB connection but i have never come accross this company before. I need a mouse that has more than 2 clicks and a scroll ball as i already have a Mighty Mouse.Does anybody know this company?I'm based in the UK,but it seems that if i'm in Europe, i carn't purchase direct.
This would be for gaming, because i have had a lot of trouble with my mighty mouse with RTS and RPG games especially.

Any other makes would be helpful.Found the Razer death adder reviewed on the "Inside MacGames"Site.

The best mice (for gaming and general usage) are Logitech mice. The contour Logitech mice have = sex. My buddy got an MX400 and loves it. You'll typically want to go with a mouse that has a high dpi range (especially if you're playing FPS's). Higher dpi = more precision. Great feed back on this thread. Thanks to everyone for there input.Have tracked down A Razer Deathadder Mac Edition,so going to give it a go.I'll just have to try it and see!!!:D

let us know what you think - i love mine!

RE: the wireless mighty mouse - how did you get this to work for fps? seriously, i couldnt use it to aim (hold right click) and fire (left click) at all, so im curious. the only good thing about that mouse is that it got me to go out and buy a deathadder, ha.

I recommend Razer mice. Depending on how you hold you mouse:

Claw grip - Copperhead or Diamondback.
Palm grip - Deathadder or Lachesis
Finger grip - Lachesis.

For more info on these grips, go here. A really nice read if you want to find the best fitting mouse.

But people can't really recommend mice for you. You should go to a local shop and test mice for yourself.

I use the Logitech MX-518. I have used it for like 4 years now, and am still on the same one. It is a great moue that honestly feels perfect in my hand. I use that on my central rig used mostly for gaming. I consider this the perfect mouse, and even more appealing, you can find it for around $30.

On my media center, I use the Logitech G7. It's very accurate and has a long range. It also works perfectly on my G4 media center with no supporting software.

At work, I use the Logitech MX Revolution. This mouse is incredibly comfortable, and many consider it the best mouse currently on the market. I find the scroll wheel is perfect for use at work, because I can scroll through thousands of lines of code with little effort.

I would reccomend the 518 for a cheap but very solid entry level gaming mouse. I plan on using this mouse until it dies, and then buying new ones until I die

but what about switching between os x and bootcamp on the fly, do those mouses handle that or do u need to reinstall drivers each time??

also what about the BLACK MAMBA !!!! LOL:D

pice isn't an issue, i just want a great mouse and i wanna be able to use it 4EVAAAAAAAAA

that's cool, that's a good backup plan...

but what about the mamba ?

would my mac run that, maybe with 3rd party software?

I don't have first hand experience, but I can safely say that OS X will recognize just about any USB mouse, you just might not be able to use all the bells and whistles out of the box. There are programs that exist for that, though, such as USB Overdrive (if people still use that - I've been on a PC for quite a while now).

Well I realised I was a palm gamer but I bought a Diamondback regardless

Protip: don't use any mouse outside of your type. For the first week with my Diamondback I destroyed my hand.

For me Razor mice are a step above Apple's mice when it comes to comfort, but that's not giving them much credit. :)

I've been using my Logitech G9 for a month now -- the only reason I bought something I'd consider cheese, is because it's a high quality corded mouse and there are currently two active 2.4 Ghz mice running and a 3rd one in my notebook case.

It's not as comfortable as my MX 1000, but it's still a really nice mouse to hold. The button feedback on it is excellent. I normally like a tapered end on mice, but with the G9 it's not there, which makes sense now that I've used it. It makes the mouse easier to move quickly, especially back towards me, since I can move it using my thumb and the finger next to my pinky and not worry about it hitting my palm.

The Habu was actually very comfy. And one of the reasons I went for a non-palm right-hand only Razer is because that's all the shop had in. I was that desperate

I love the tech in Razers and their vulcanised rubbery-feel. Hate the super tacky lights though. The Habu had an off button for them and I'm really missing that right about now.

Off button, for a corded mouse, or was it wireless?

The G9 has 3 massive slip pad thingies. It also has a button that lets me switch the wheel between click mode and super spin mode. I like the weight system it offers and maxed it out.

You should sell your EVIL Razor and buy a Logitech. ;)

Logitech G9 is THE gaming mouse. There is no question.

Talk to any "pro" gamer and they will stand by it.

Uh, that's like asking a pro footballer what boots he uses. They're provided by the firm, so he's bound to say that brand as product placement. Besides which, what an individual prefers to use is far more important than what some dork who wasted his/her childhood playing games too seriously has to say.

Many people in the FPS community still swear by Microsoft's Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, you'll be hard-pushed to find a decent one these days though. Personally, the Razer Diamondback is the best mouse I have ever used for gaming. It has all the dpi you could need as a low-sensitivity (and by extension high-sensitvity, as it requires less dpi) player (like me) and it's teflon pads underneath have yet to wear away on mine. I've been using it for 3+ years now and never considered changing it.

Combine that with a Fatal1ty FatPad mouse mat (bought it because it's freaking huge, not because that twit puts his moniker on it) and you've got yourself a silky-smooth mousing set up. If only you could tweak the USB ports on your Mac to operate at 500Mhz instead of 125Mhz, you'd be well-and-truly SORTED :D

EDIT: I stand corrected, Microsoft's IME3.0: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Microsoft-IntelliMouse-Explorer-3-0-Top-Quality_W0QQitemZ320332370763QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_ComputerComponents_KeyboardsMice?hash=item320332370763&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Most Starcraft progamers use Logitech Mini Optical mouse and Samsung DT-35 keyboard.

+1 for the MX518

I've had mine for over 2.5yrs now, and it's been nothing but good to me. I use it for various things (gaming, editing, etc) and I've had 0 problems with it, and it feels right when I use it. I highly recommend it.

well i'm a little worried because the black mamba from razer is somehow wireless, dunno if it's bluetooth.... i think it connects usb to it's base and the base transmits to the mouse, would this work with mac via steermouse and is there another good mouse program for mac?

We know different people. :) I've seen quite a few Micrsofot Intellimouse. I even have one here. I replaced it with a G9 on my PC, but personally I've seen the G5 the the most when going to LAN parties.

This is true :) Out of curiosity, which FPS games do you play?

don't play many games but when i do i use my mighty mouse, the right/left click thing is annoying though. still a good mouse, i can get a lot of range.

it's just that the mouse i'm looking at is wireless and it's usb and i'm wondering if it will work on the mac and pc sides of my mac with steermouse on my mac side and the normal software on the pc side, i want to be able to use all the extra buttons etc...

i'm worried because the mouse base/charger seems to plug in via usb and then transmit in some way tot he mouse itself, but the mouse can also be used with a cord?

yeah it's confusing, maybe i can get some advice on whether anyone thinks it would work for me

you can see it here

http://www.razerzone.com/p-198-razer-mamba-wireless-laser-gaming-mouse.aspx

i do want this one specifically because it's the fastest mouse ever made and it's the first wireless gaming mouse for pros because it transmits superhighspeed

anyway please tell me if you think i'd be able to use it
