SciFi/Fantasy
* Star Trek Next Generation

For me the clear cut number 1 is West Wing. Probably watched the series from start to finish 8 or 10 times. A really good show.

After that it would probably be a comedy, either Cheers, Big Bang Theory, or That 70's Show.

I know I am going to get lampooned for this but my all time favorite is Perry Mason (1957-1966). The 7th season DVDs are almost here!

Married... With Children ("Can I get a whoa Bundy?")

Combat! ("Checkmate King 2, this is White Rook, Over.")

Sledge Hammer! ("A gun can't solve the world's problems, but give it a shot.")

1. Dexter
2. 24
3. Modern Family
4. Criminal Minds
5. Law and Order SVU
6. CSI Miami

I don't watch much TV now, but as a kid in the 70's I loved anything sci-fi. Star Trek was a must-watch. As was UFO. Aaah UFO: Shapely British chicks, in skimpy 70's mini skirts and boots, wearing purple wigs and living on a Moon-base for Pete's sake! What more could a young lad ask for? ;)

Funky 70's theme tune too. Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slYW7kkHyI4&feature=related

When I was growing up the best show was the Howdy Doody show.

I started watching "Suits" on USA. Wow. That show is freaking great. Anyone else watch that?

Suits is great.

All time favorite was Nip/Tuck but that's been gone for a long time. It was only show I really watched religiously. Now it's white collar and suits but I still don't manage to catch every episode live like I used to with Nip/Tuck.

My humble submission to this thread

1. Breaking Bad

Perhaps the greatest show ever aired. Everything about it is absolute tense perfection. The casting, the acting, the writing, the cinematography. It's all grand, and should be held as the current high water mark of television.

2. The X-Files

Comeon. It's the X-Files. I could talk about it, but everyone here probably knows about it and loves it already (you better love it ). Also gets props for being directly responsible for Breaking Bad.

3. The Wire

If there's one show that can top BB on writing and story, it's this. A drama centering on the Baltimore drug trade, as shown from the perspectives of everyone from the street dealers, to the police, all the way to the mayors office. Complicated and intriguing. Three thumbs up.

4. Arrested Development

Are you serious?

Almost always. I was once voted the worst audience participant Cirque Du Soleil ever had.

5. Game of Thrones

A show about a bunch of incestuous, backstabbing, powerhungry bastards willing to kill everyone they know and love so they can be the one to sit on an uncomfortable looking seat made out of swords. Also it has the most kick ass oversexed dwarf to ever exist, some little dragons, and a naked boob every 10 minutes.

Honorable mention: Lost.

It drifted towards the end, but it still held me in thrall during it's entire run. Gotta give it props.

Favorite line from Arrested Development:
"I put it in her brownie."
(The speaker and listener are thinking two different things)

Favorite line from "House":
"Wanna go for a spin?"
(To a female midget)
