Just do a hot breath on your screen and quickly wipe it on your shirt. I dont understand all this craziness about cleaning the screen with tape or microfiber cloths.

As a photographer I buy isopropanol for lens cleaning by the litre, one squirt on a lens cloth cleans the whole phone perfectly.

Typical.. Isopropanol will weaken any glass coating, most solutions are a 50/50 diluted blend, but even that I wouldn't recommended. Especially on lenses worth hundreds or even thousands.

As an imaging archivist, the only truly OCD safe way to clean delicate optical quality glass is disposable non-abrasive lint-free wipes such as Pec-Pads.

Most lens cleaners (even the big brands are isopropanol based, like ROR and Optical Wonder).

Who mentioned 100% isopropanol? You get a little excitable quite easily.

Examples

Optical Wonder is 40% water, 35% isopropanol and 25% ethanol.

ROR optical cleaner is

Water 75%
Liquid Soap 9%
Isopropanol 14%
Salt 1%
Ammonia 1%

A good lens cleaning solution is 60% isopropanol 40% water and a drop or two of dish washing liquid ( making around 1 litre of cleaner).

The above ratio formula comes from a Canon lens repair technician with over 30 years experience, and he has used it on his personal gear for that long without any damage.

Not my fault you're terribly vague. And again, if you're concerned by a coating that already has a habit of coming off with wear, simply stay away from solutions.

I usually follow Apple's recommendations.

From the link:
Clean iPhone immediately if it comes into contact with any contaminants that may cause stains, such as ink, dyes, makeup, dirt, food, oils, and lotions. To clean iPhone, unplug all cables and turn off iPhone (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPhone. The front and back glass surfaces have an oleophobic coating. To remove fingerprints, simply wipe these surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch the glass.

Soft cotton cloth. Or I use my same old eye glass cloth. No chemicals at all, no water, nothing else. ;)

But it didn't say don't use scotch tape lol

No doubt they didn't think anyone would be crazy enough to do that.
That's a common method to take away the dust before you apply the screen guard . It is not crazy

----------

the residue in scotch tape is bad for the screen, if u use it regularly, the screen is probably not as smooth as without using it.

the best way to use microfiber, especially the one that u got when u buy an iMac. it's very smooth and high quality.

when u clean the screen using microfiber or your cotton tshirt, make sure to rub it without any pressure at first so if there is a big dirt and dust, it will go away first, so the second time u rub it, this time apply pressure.

dont go rub the screen with pressure the first time, because dirt and dust that might scratch
the coating or even the screen.

My screen is smoother than the baby butt

Seriously. If you really care about your phone, why not use case or atleast screen protector? I'm sure it'll get more scratches laying on the table open than rubbing with cloth/microfiber.
Screen protector really **** up the quality of the screen.. That's why I don't use it and also I do not use the case because jony Ive just spent so much time on this phone design and I don't want to waste his hard work lol.. Actually It is design for you to use without the case. And it is so hard to get scratch in normal use

They do, if you buy some crappy protector or even those anti-fingerprint ones. One decent one protects the screen and I cant even tell the difference between one with and without the screen protector.

No it is not micro fiber, if you press too hard it will scratch your screen and you left smudges after you clean it. I found the best way. Just use the scotch tape , stick it on your screen and pull it out, all your grease, finger print and small dust will stick to the tape. No more expensive microfiber or spray . The scotch tape only cost me 3 bucks . Also you can use one piece of the tape many times . Try it

Note : do not use this method if you have screen protector , you might pull out the screen protector however if you don't have screen protector it's worth a try sometimes
Actually.... no. The most effective cleaning method is to spray some electronics detergent onto a cleaning cloth and gently wash the surfaces of the iPhone. When you're done it's good to finish off polishing the phone using special dry microfiber material.

So you do this every time your phone gets dirty? Seems like a lot of effort. PErhaps cuz my phone gets dirty easily and leaves marks from my makeup and fingerprints. Can't whip out a roll of tape everytime i use my phone.

NO it wont pull the screen out, trust me iphone is not that weak, and also, i got this idea from the screen guard shop, where the guy apply the screen guard for me. He used the tape to clean the dust and etc. Of course right now i dont use screen guard on my phone and i have been using this method to clean my phone. In fact it is the best way. I scratched my previous iphone many times because i used microfiber.

I have used a microfiber cloth for years and NEVER scratched my screen. The tape will certinally remove dust but how could it remove oil finger prints and smudges. Sorry I got to call BS on that part.

Microfiber cloth is still king for me. Each to his own.
