Sand paper fixed the problem permanently for me. It also gave my screen a nice, anti-glare finish and I don't have to worry about scratches anymore either!

My apology

Accepted.

However, I've seen tape peeled off of walls that left minute damage/residue to the paint. I've seen tape peeled off many surfaces that left behind sticky residue. The fact that you want to so easily dismiss the counter argument on this makes me feel that you are more concerned with trying to convince everyone you're right rather than consider the very real concern over the possible long term effects of doing this.

Saying that you do this is fine. Suggesting to others that they "may" want to consider this too is fine. Speaking as if you are an authority on this, acting as if you have any clue as to what the long term effects might be, and being obnoxious and rude to anyone suggesting a very worthwhile counter argument to this practice, is NOT okay.

What happens when the coating wears off? Does the screen look different?

The screen smudges much easier. Under bright light, you can see where the coating has worn away or where it still is. I had this problem when I had a case on my 3GS that covered the area around the speaker and the area around the home button. When I took it off, the coating was nonexistent where the case didn't cover.

I use scotch tape to remove the dust particles before putting on a screen protector, but that's only once, after that the screen protector gets wiped with whatever is close by :)

I've seen a nurses phone, where she used those alcohol wipes. It looked murky and horrible.

what are you talking about,There is no residue on my phone and nothing wrong my phone. When did i force people to use it, it just my opinion, and if you don't like my method then dont do it, so simple, there is no rocket science here. I have no power to control what you do with your device, it is your device and it is your choice.

Funny, but I'm just pointing out how unnecessary and how inconvenient it is. You think I carry around tape all day just in case a crumb is on my screen or there's a piece of dust? Please...

if you cant carry around then don't

If it works, I dont see too much of a problem depending on what kind of tape is used and how often. Problem is when I clean my phone. I usually clean it when im outside in direct sun light and cant see the screen well due to fingerprints. I dont carry around tape so a decent screen protector and my shirt does best.
