Nah fam. Honestly only reason why I chose Best Buy was because Apple’s website and my carrier’s website wouldn’t work for me ._. But heeeere’s hoping

I even went to BestBuy today and one guy assured be that it should be here by Friday the 3rd or later. I didn't want to argue with him. So I just smiled, said my thank you and left. :)

Yeah. I'm not keeping my hopes up to high. It'd be really surprise if BB comes through after the forums I've read.

Do they advertise that their phones are carrier independent? I thought they charge more because you can buy a phone without the carrier check.

I don’t think they do. That might lead people to believe they’re unlocked, which they’re not. The phone will still lock to the first carrier they’re activated on (except Verizon).

I’m guessing Apple does this just so it’s easier to keep track of inventory. You won’t have situations where you’re out of the phone on one carrier, but not another. For all intents and purposes, if you buy the phone for AT&T, it becomes an AT&T iPhone (with the added benefit of having the Qualcomm modem).

BestBuy rep. said I should be receiving a phone call Tuesday or Wednesday to set up a time to activate my iPhone X.

The key word is: "should".

Did anyone who purchased their iphone x through BB confirm an extra $100 charge that is being added on top of the retail price?
I paid $100 more, I knew it and thought I’ll price match it later but BB is not price matching iPhones.

I got shipped to home, last year they were 3 weeks late . But gave me a 100 dollars free to spend online or in store

Honestly I am more concerned that people are being ripped off $100 extra dollars. Shame on Best Buy!

Let me attempt to clear all of this up...

The $100 premium for an outright purchase iPhone is nothing new. It’s been going on since at least the iPhone 6.

In years past, there was no issue whatsoever in price matching Apple and saving the $100 for customers who requested it. As a former Assistant Store Manager I did it many many times.

Now, as far as the IPhone X is concerned, I’m honestly not sure if the company policy has changed. I still work for the company, but not in a Manager capacity (stepped down to pursue educational avenues) but the company price match guarantee literally stars that we will price match our competitors and Apple is literally a competitor that shows up in the system.

So with that knowledge in hand, if you really REALLY wanted to price match an out of contract iPhone and an employee is saying no then ask to speak to a manager. It can be done. And this is coming from someone whose done it a Million Times

Some credit cards will price match, FYI.

I don't think I'm even going to try with BB, I'll just let Citi Card do its thing. :)

I have an in-store pickup estimated for Friday, November 3rd. No updates yet.

I love Citi card price rewind.
Sometimes I get a few dollars back, other times $60-100 depending on the item bought.
Love that added card benefit.

I have November 3rd showing for in-home delivery. No progress yet... but all of the stories on here make it sound like Best Buy never has gotten a product to anybody on time. Surely somebody has to be getting these things on the 3rd. Anybody care to share encouraging stories to give us a boost of confidence?

Wednesday we should know they are real or fake

if none update on wednesday then = bestbuy = suckbuy

I just call 1888 best buy and automatic answer machine said

iphone x may delay delivery/pickup on nov 3rd

This is b...@@ll s@@it...

If you want to buy a game or console pre-order from Best Buy online, they are okay. But I always heard bad things about iPhone pre-orders.

I worked at Best Buy for 3 years and every year we had angry customers calling about their iPhone order. We were always required to tell customers that Best Buy does not guarantee an iPhone on release day (this was not only with the iPhone, but with any phone that was being released). Best Buy isn’t the best place to preorder an iPhone. Not saying you won’t be getting it, maybe you’re lucky and you are at the top of the list, but Best Buy never gets enough inventory.

That’s the key right there. In years past while I still got excited about phones I would go to an Apple store and they were sold out. Id go to Best Buy and they had three or four phones about an hour ago but they were sold out. I was always told they would get three or four the next day. It’s crazy to think that a major retail store servicing thousands of customers would only get three or four phones at a time. Obviously that’s how Apple creates the hype over it’s phones. Keep them just out of reach to create demand.

If I’m not mistaken there has been a shortage of iPhones on release day for years. Gee I wonder why. Shortage of supply creates of demand.

It's the same thing nintendo does with gamestop stores with the switch and new devices they are rolling out. A store will get a couple or you can order in store for delivery but the shortage keeps them hot.
