Just ordered something on Amazon.com and it took a good hour and a half at least. Site would keep on refusing to load pages or timing out. Must be server overload because I picked up an Apple TV from BestBuy.com without issue.

once you start customizing products through a place like macmall, apple ends up being cheaper. Macmall started cheaper for a 15" MBP 2.4 but as soon as I added a 2.5 it ended up being more expensive than the apple site.

Got an iPad 2 16gb, and a gray smart cover for $486 (+tax). But hey, I saved $52.50 because the smart covers were also on sale (if you want a smart cover, buy one now and save yourself $11, because the price probably won't be this low again).

- Amazon: Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington
- MacMall: North Carolina, Illinois, New York, California, Tennessee, Minnesota, Colorado, and Wisconsin.

Notice how NY is in both lists? Ah, the Great State of New York - the most heavily taxed state in the union, where our state motto is "collect taxes on that".

 I know and I live in New York so I don't save any money on Amazon or MacMail. Any other site that does not charge sales tax is charging the full price for a white 32 GB iPod Touch $299. It really sucks living in New Tax York.

So in other words Apple is offering the everyday Student discount pricing today only for everyone. Why not just use the Education discount, you don't need to prove any affiliation... (you can't get a double discount though)

Now I am getting ticked off. Even eBay I found a couple of sellers selling the white iPod Touch for $274 but no New York I got to pay sales taxes driving the price to $299. Is there anywhere I can get a white iPod Touch 32 GB without tax in NY for lower than $299. Nope.:mad::mad::mad:

Forget it. Like I said before I will just stick with my 3rd Gen iPod Touch which works great. No problems with it. The only thing that is giving me a craving to buy the 4th Gen is the camera and retina display but I think I will just wait until next fall when we hope Apple will release a new touch. If they don't I will have to get a iPhone contract and all.

You guys make me laugh, expecting much better from Apple on Black Friday. You can go to the Black Friday summary page here on MacRumors to see what the Apple BF discounts have been for the last few years, and they have been consistent. The $101 discount on the computers is standard fare. Anyone wanting a standard item could have estimated what the Apple BF price would have been in comparing prices the last few weeks. I did it when shopping for an Air a few weeks ago. I first calculated what the Apple BF price was going to be, with the estimated $101 discount, and then found an even lower price on Amazon for the same spec Air, without sales tax, so I knew not to wait for BF and went ahead and bought on Amazon. Even better the Amazon price has gone up since then.

You don't want to save $11 off of an iPod nano?

By choosing to not buy anything because of the economy, you're actually making things worse (not better).

People who are spending money this holiday season, especially with big ticket items, are actually contributing to economy and it's recovery.

Spending more> company profits> company hires more people> less people on unemployment
Spending less> company losses money> company shuts down> more people on unemployement

I love Apple stuff as much as the next guy. However, buying or NOT buying Apple stuff is not going to do ANYTHING to solve the US Budget CRISIS nor improve the Housing disaster, nor improve the long term unemployment numbers.

However, buying Apple stuff will give you a nice warm and fuzzy feeling for a few days. :apple:

While i can't approve of fraud  you could always give money to a friend or parent with affiliation.

The Air is the only option for the double discount
Oh wait - i just checked.

It reallocates the discount
If you're a student it's $50 off + TODAY ONLY $50
If you don't log in as a student = $100 off!
A little misleading and douchey as hell in my opinion.

I was hoping i could get a MBP as a student for $50 - $100 cheaper today.

Boy is my butthole red.

Generic comment about consumerism.
Black Friday is clearly not about top end products.
It's about boosting GDP while pushing outdated/underpowered products on uneducated consumers.

So few i7's.
Certainly no Sandy Bridge-E.
No Sata III SSDs bigger than 128 gbs.
Meager Apple discounts.

Bummer.

has anyone ordered from Apples on line site? I tried doing it earlier then it crashed I so did my order again and now I have 2 iPad smart covers and 2 iPod nanos waiting for me.

Last week I noticed that MicroCenter was selling iPad 2s for $50 off the usual / Apple listed price. But then, the iPad 3s are coming soon, aren't they?

On large purchases, the sales tax can be substantial where it is charged.

Are you telling everyone you went back to the Apple Store but did NOT check the status of your cart?
