Hey arn,

Any chance you might update your tax dodging verbiage to reflect legal reality?

How is it an "advantage" to have to send in the taxes yourself Macrumors? Oh, you mean you don't yet understand that just because the seller hasn't collected the sales tax you the citizen are still expected to send them in anyway? Sounds like Macrumors should consult a lawyer. Otherwise they might be found liable for suggesting consumers nationwide can cheat on their sales taxes and use taxes so long as they shop around for a seller than doesn't do the collecting for them.

Are you serious? Nobody pays taxes on internet purchases unless the seller adds them. EVER.

They charge sales tax if they are in business in your state or have a warehouse. It's not that they choose not to. Amazon has a warehouse somewhere in Kansas, so I have to pay sales tax on Amazon purchases.

smart cover is useless. mine has been back in its box since maybe the first week. the novelty soon wears off and it's more of a hindrance than a tool.

Have to agree with this. Mine is sitting in my dresser. It's a floppy, non-protective waste of money.

No Discount

On the Thunderbolt display here in the UK. Not sure if Amazon might be doing something, but I doubt it. Back home you all seem to have a better selection of stuff, but the discounts are really not that great.

Had a good browse on the Apple Uk site, but nothing there that I need or don't already have.

Will check out Amazon just in case they have other stuff available, butI'm thinking it will be cases and gear like that.

That would be tax evasion in many (most?) states, whether you admit it or not. Some people may not know this, and they may get away with it, but that doesn't make it legal. EVER.

For example in California use tax has existed since 1935, way before the internet. There are exceptions, such as software downloads, but if you received any physical package or mail, chances are you owe sales tax.

Not such a great deal for anything

If you buy most Apple products off Apples own refurb site, you can save up to 30% in some cases, much much better than these silly Black Friday prices and they are available everyday. Not to mention with Apple care you get the same warranty on new products so if they fail you get a new one replacing it anyhow. Seems silly to run out and spend what ever to save a few bucks on BF when you can typically save as much if not more any day of the week here ---> http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac?mco=MTM3NTA4MTI

I'm so glad I didn't wait for Apple's Black Friday sale to buy my MacBook Pro 15". I took my chances last week and got a 10% off code for Currys (UK) and got £154.90 off, rather than the measly £81 off Apple is offering.

If you're lucky, the online promotion code might still work. Type 'GRAND10' for any orders over £1000 to get 10% discount.

You need to calm the F down. I guess we know what you do for a living. Why don't you go harass some lemonade stands.

These savings are a bust. Sales are an incentive to buy products. A good product speaks for itself and doesn't need any extra incentives. You can get these deals anytime by using the Apple Education Store or by finding reseller/online discounts. Black Friday is just a day for retail stores to sell off merchandise that wouldn't be sold without a discount to begin with. Let's take Dick's Sporting Goods as an example. 50% off everything in the store!* *except Nike and any other worthwhile brand.

ok whatever discounts. isn't the elephant in the room the "iPad 2s". when did that come out?

You don't want to save $11 off of an iPod nano?

By choosing to not buy anything because of the economy, you're actually making things worse (not better).

People who are spending money this holiday season, especially with big ticket items, are actually contributing to economy and it's recovery.

Spending more> company profits> company hires more people> less people on unemployment
Spending less> company losses money> company shuts down> more people on unemployement

Somebody gets it.

Boycott crass Christmas commercialism.
Your contribution to more unemployment and human misery.
