Black Friday 2011: A List of Discounts on Apple Products and More

National retailers such as Apple and Best Buy charge local sales tax on all orders. So, the advantage of using other online-only retailers is not getting charged that sales tax in many of the states.
How is it an "advantage" to have to send in the taxes yourself Macrumors? Oh, you mean you don't yet understand that just because the seller hasn't collected the sales tax you the citizen are still expected to send them in anyway? Sounds like Macrumors should consult a lawyer before making such inferences. Otherwise Macrumors might be found liable for suggesting consumers can cheat on their sales taxes and use taxes so long as they shop around for a seller than doesn't do the collecting for them. All I know is that I wouldn't want to be making a public case for tax evasion in the middle of the biggest debt crisis in generations.

Great timing for me, my 2008 iMac just died (Nvidia 8800 GS defective). Just ordered the 21.5" iMac for $1,050 from Amazon ($150 off). It was already a pretty good deal at retail price, but this is a great deal for this machine! :)

Are you serious? Nobody pays taxes on internet purchases unless the seller adds them. EVER.

It's pretty typical for Apple to bring down their store before changing prices or products. Also, it's typical for Apple to operate on their own (California/Pacific) time, thus for them "Black Friday" starts at midnight California time, not NY time. Not unusual at all, nor a "fail".

Um....it's a "fail" on CBS News' part. Whoever wrote that story failed. Get it?

You're a moron. So your saying him not buying an apple product is going to make apple hire more people. And that he should buy apple products even though the black Friday sales are a joke compared to everyone else. Apples too busy hiring chinese factory workers anyway.

I didn't say anything about Apple, Apple products or their Black Friday sale , my reply was to Frisco regarding this statement
I think I'll buy nothing this year, Apple or anything else. Take a look at the economy

As a matter of fact, my reply to MultiMediaWill was an obvious sarcastic remark of how bad Apple's Black Friday sale is
You don't want to save $11 off of an iPod nano?

But my reply to MultiMediaWill had nothing to do with Frisco.

Yeah I was talking about the article.

Been waiting since 12AM to buy something and it's now 2:12AM and Apple website is still down. I may as well ride to my local store it's only 45 mins. away:confused:

Yeah I was talking about the article.

they seem to have updated the article, to make it less wrong.

That would be in error as I keep careful track of all online purchases and pay my use tax every year. Not only is it the law, it is the right thing to do as these taxes go towards the services that benefit us all.

Taxes have existed long before the internet and what you owe didn't change just because you bought it from a computer screen. What you seem to be saying is that nobody understands how to determine their actual tax liabilities, which may very well be true, but you'd still think they'd still be smart enough not to admit that in public.

Amazon is actively adjusting prices.

The big discounts on the MBA is already gone... for now.

They really are. I've been watching a few items all day and they've been fluctuating. MS Office just jumped up to $74.99 in the last few minutes.

Hopefully they drop the 128/4 11" MBA a bit more! $1139.99 is still a good regular discount price though, so if it doesn't drop further, I won't feel badly about buying it at that price.

Oh, and it's your turn. :p

Typical. Why is it that Apple can't ever stick to a schedule for re-opening their website. Every product launch or anything similar has hic-ups on the site. Supposed to be opened at 3 am. Its almost 3:30.

Was going to order a smart cover last week. Glad I waited got it for £24 instead of £35.

smart cover is useless. mine has been back in its box since maybe the first week. the novelty soon wears off and it's more of a hindrance than a tool.
