Pretty typical responses for this site
--Should that guy have scratched up an in store model with his keys? Of course not. Not only was it vandalism,...
--telling someone you scratched something with a key doesn't mean anything. I can scratch all sorts of things deliberately with a key.
--However... the point of all of this is that *allegedly* the phone scratches very easily, which I'm sorry if true, is not ok. Apple and its customers obviously care about aesthetics. They go out of the way to make the phone look nice anodizing it in the first place, and a lot of people appreciate that sort of thing. So, it looking great so long as you ensconce it in a display case or wrap it in a cover of some sort so that you can never see it is not really acceptable.
I have a 4S. I've never put it in a case. I often carry it in the same pocket with my keys and a pocket knife. It looks brand new aside from the fingerprints, which I can simply wipe off. That's what I want from a phone I'm paying this kind of money for. Especially coming from Apple.
So I don't understand the attitude here. (Well, ok, that's not true. I certainly have a handle on the typical response from people from this site... both extremes.)
People scratching up store models? Not ok.
People being upset that if you deliberately take a key to something, it'll show marks? Not ok.
People being upset if their phone scratches ridiculously easily? Nothing wrong with that.
