Okay - there's no doubt the phone will scratch. What people aren't mentioning, though, is that the scratches on the bottom of the phone (like at 1:30 in the video you linked) are actually in the antenna band, not on the jet black finish itself. The "desk test" certainly scratched the finish, but I find the antenna scratches interesting.

Blah blah bleh.

I just ordered some cheap fitted .4mm 360 cases from eBay.

Guess what? It'll stop scratches and allow me to have a matte black phone, or my jet black in all its glory when the occasion calls.

2in1 for the price of $5.

I even got the blue which will make it look like the deep blue rumoured but not seen. :D

I've had the same type of cases for my 6/6s and they are awesome.

I guarantee half of those scratches are superficial and can be buffed with car care products. Most are in the clear coat only.

Got my phone. After seeing both blacks in person I decided I love both. Totally happy with my matte though. I don't regret canceling my Jet order to get this one earlier. I was worried I would be.

It doesn't matter which colour it is..

Any phone can scratch if you are trying to do so. No matter what phone i get i always put a case on it so for me the jet black won't be an issue and i would never put my keys in the same pocket as my phone. Not enough room for one.

Your right, it is no where close to that which that jet black will look like crap after 5 minutes of use with finger prints all over it.

When did this become a thing?

Not all that long ago everyone was walking around with an iPhone 4 and 4S in their pocket, and with it being mostly glass it was incessantly covered in fingerprints and yet no one worried about it. Add to that the glass wasn't very shatter proof or scratch resistant.

It's YOUR phone. How often are you staring at the back of it when you are using it? Why do you care if there are finger prints on it?

People are apparently really passionate about one black or the other. It's really baffling that anybody would put each other down because of choosing one of these colors.
Will the JB show fingerprints and scratches? Absolutely. Apple were very forward about this so it shouldn't surprise anybody. That doesn't take away from the technological feat that is the JB finish. It's a gorgeous looking phone and people have every right to be mesmerized by it.

Lol at all these videos intentionally trying to scratch the phone. Like I would ever take sandpaper to my phone!

Ehm, the iPhone 4 glass back cover is WAY more scratch resistant than this Jet Black finish. So this is a really bad comparison.

I know right, i want to see someone use it in REAL world use! for example putting in and out of their pocket, putting it on a table, that kind of thing. Of course the phone will scratch if you take a knife to it, put it in a bag full of bolts or intentional scratch keys against it.

Why can't a reviewer do NORMAL things that we all do with a naked phone? Putting it down on tables. maybe slightly bumping it alongside the table. pulling in and out of clothes. setting it down on kitchen counters, small drops getting out of the car ect.. No need to see nails, razors, or sandpaper. I really don't understand these extremes besides the very end of the video is fine.

Weird i was writing the same thing at the same time haha

Have you watched the videos linked above?
In one of them, the guy cleaned the jet black iPhone with his shirt, and it scratched immediately. This is a pretty normal thing to do, especially with all those fingerprints that show up on the jet black. There's no doubt it's gonna scratch if you put it on a table without a case.

yea i saw that but wasn't he just talking about it but didn't actual do more testing with his shirt. or rubbing it on his pants to clean the finger marks. i want more real world situations instead of stuff that doesnt relate to me.

I was going to try to find a matte black and cancel my Jet Black order, but I couldn't find one yesterday.

Preparing to ship now, so I'm keeping it. I have an Apple leather case coming if the need arises.

I think if people put the Jet black in a case, maybe a clear case, it will scratch far less. That's what i plan to do. If i don't like it when it arrives i'll send it back and get the matte black. I went to a few stores near me today and they didn't even have display models so i will have to see when my jet black arrives.

Or do what I'm doing and get a Slickwrap naked. You won't even know it's there.
