"Blackberry is not going anywhere!"

Macrumors forum commenters wisdom, circa 2008.
Blackberry isn't going anywhere. They're still around & have been doing fairly well since they've transitioned to a software company.

In light of who they sold it to, I have no feeling for them. china spent several years trying to buy this with dirty money.

Kind of shocking that almost 10 years ago, Blackberry phones were the device to have. Along with owning a Palm, Blackberry was one of my first smartphones. I even remember when the iPhone was introduced, I swore that I would still keep my Blackberry because I loved the physical keyboard (that didn't last long). Almost ten years later and I have owned iPhone's ever since (minus the brief period where I experimented with a Nexus device).

Still have one that I absolutely loathe for work. I'm sorry, but whoever said they have the best software keyboard in the Z10 is a liar. Anyhow, now that they've bought Good I'll probably finally transition to BYOD... I think they'll actually succeed in making those apps not suck.

How can u get to a nice rounded 0.0% ? lol

Others would be saying "so long" while I would be saying "Well.. it had to come sometime"

BB10 has the best software keyboard, at least when you're using both hands.

I'm just waiting for Tim Cook to f*cking start licensing out iOS to other manufacturers.. same with macOS.. and starts reinvesting Apples profit into LGBT parades.... WHEN STEVE JOBS SAID 'DONT LEAD LIKE ME' IT WAS MEANT TO BE LIKE "NO, RUN ON, SAVE YOURSELF" WHERE YOU CLEARLY SAVE THE PERSON INSTEAD OF LISTENING, AND RUNNING ON. He should have bloody said 'What would Steve do' maybe we'd all still be able to afford Macs and feel innovation. And also not have multiple sizes, a useless watch and lack of focus on the Mac. . .

BlackBerry has at last fallen to a rounded 0.0% share among smartphone operating systems after shipping just 207,000 smartphones last quarter, following an over seven year decline from its peak market share of approximately 20% in 2009, according to the latest quarterly data from research firm Gartner.

Meanwhile here in Kitchener & Waterloo Ontario, home of Blackberry, their marketshare is still something like 40%. Can't believe how many people are still carrying them around town.

Looking forward to seeing the new Blackberry Mercury that is about to be released. Looks pretty nice, I look back on my BB devices with fond memories.

I loved my BB Storm and really loved the Storm 2 once they figured out the better clicky screen. I would pay top dollar for an Android, preferably Motorola with a clicky screen like BB had with the Storms.

The Storms never caught on because BB OS was still meant for a roller ball/pad and not for touch screen. It looked promising when they went with OS 10 (whatever that company was called, like Qnix or something?). It just didn't come to fruition.

But, now, eight years later I've been on Android and I'm not looking back.

"Good afternoon! We've got some exciting news to share with you all. We're pleased to report the Windows Mobile Operating System is now over FIVE AND A HALF TIMES LARGER than the market share of Blackberry, and gaining!" - Satya Nadella, to investors

RIM is the poster-child for corporate arrogance, complacency, and failure to recognize a competitive threat. They will be discussed in business school for generations to come.

I hope it's also discussed at Apple's spaceship campus from time to time as a motivator to change course when necessary, otherwise RIM won't be the only company discussed in business schools in this context.

I guess this is a great statistic to show how impactful the iPhone was and still is.

You should have compared Andorids market share to IOS before posting.
[doublepost=1487194992][/doublepost]
So iOS has 15% market share, in this article. Android has 82% market share, as mentioned in this article.

And, mentioned in this article, apple phone 'took down' blackberry? Looks to me like android took down blackberry.

Don't let facts like those get in the way of Apple fanboys.
