I would certainly buy one and I would buy it over iPAD anytime and anyday IF:
- equal screen quality (this is a must)!!!
- a USB port and can be used as a USB hosting device to connect my mp3 player
- no F%$%ing synching and that means I would be able to upload files like to flashdrive
- stable OS

It's funny, but I prefer by far Sync-ing than a traditional file-system management for that kind of device, essentially for the safety of data and the ease of use.

but apple syncing is VERY VERY limited on the files you can dump onto the iPod and you can not use the extra space on it to choose to store or pull files from. That is something I miss about my old click wheel 20 gig iPod was the unused space on it could be used to store data.
Current ipods you can not do that with.

True, however, there are more and more 3rd party Apps that allow for additional file formats than what Apple originally supports (and without JB).

For you then, quantity must out way quality. There's nothing that this or the samsung tab offers that defeats the quality and precision of the iPad.

That would be outweigh. And to me no it doesn't. But I am of the mindset that all quality and no function is useless. Thankfully the iPad 1st gen does have some function. But from what I've read so far, the PlayBook has many features that the iPad does not and so to me the choice between which to get is not unequivocally clear. I personally am looking forward to the iPad 2nd gen.

The bad news on RIM's part is the wait between announcement nd release is approximately 6 months.

I got iPad since day 1, and it is about 6 months later and it feels dated already.

By the time Playbook actually hits the market, it will no longer be the "new" thing. Apple as well as other manufactures will have more appealing device to knock Playbook out of radar screen.

RIM's marketing department should be fired over this - fast changing tech industry, "leaking" trade secret before theta are able to mass produce and release. Or whomever (executive) messed this up.

That's not messing up. They just try to avoid that the RIMM stock goes through the ground. Managers need to cash in stock-options ahead of Holidays.

No that is typical RIM. Business and enterprise need room maps so 6 months gives them time to prepare for it and budget for it. Apple is consumer focused only. Apple does not give a damage about the business world so Announced and release need to be closed together. Very different set up.

That is just extra crap and steps that you have to go threw that you should not have to. Still limits how easy you can plug it in and just make it work.

To be honest, I think you are going to be dissapointed if you think iPad2 is going to be anything more than a very slightly tweeked iPad1

Camera, Gryo, Ram, a basic video editing package and that's it I reckon.

I think we will have the same screen, the same basic hardware, the same body, the same lock downs.

I'd love to be wrong, but I can't see Apple changing much really other than the few additions I mentioned.

PFT. How self-important do you think you are? Gotta love when someone makes predictions and then spouts as facts (or is it "just as good as facts"). You really should carry a dictionary with you at all times because your grasp of the English language boarders on elementary.

Ironically, it's not always as easy as it looks. ;)

It's extremely easy and it doesn't take much more clicks than using a traditional file browser like Finder or Windows Explorer; perhaps even less in some cases.
- Plug iOS device, iTunes launches, syncs your device.
- Click on your device icon,
- Click on the Apps tab,
- Select the appropriate app,
- Drag & drop the file and you're done.

not all computers I use iTunes. The school computers sure as hell do not have iTune and no way in hell will it be installed.

You are thinking I am just talking about my own computer and that is a failure right there.
I use flash drives to move files between computers or take them with me. I want access to those files regardless of what the computer I am connecting to has on it.

Also even under your own argument right there more work. Flash drive is plug in computer. Open device.
No extra work.

A lot of companies don't allow iTunes either.
My company blocks the download and installation of iTunes and if it is found on a company asset, there is a domain policy in place to remove it.
It's considered entertainment software, not productivity software.

We only allow BB desktop software.

Going by their usual pattern, you are probably spot on.

just love to see how Apple fanboys do their best laugh at Blackberry Playbook. The playbook at least has features iPad doesn't have. I would love to see USB port, HDMI port, multi-tasking, front & back camera, flash support. LOL, this thing just beat useless iPad in every other way. Take that, Apple fanboys. LOL

<sarcasm.
Always an annoying thing companies not allowing you to install stuff like that. They just want you to work...</sarcasm >

I know some that would not allow you to even install BBdesktop software. Not that it is a huge deal since on BB you can enable Mass storage mode and it will cause the computer to treat the BB like a flash drive.
It very simple and good for everyone.

Corporate life is a pain. At least it pays well.

As for the flash drive mode, we have a domain hardware policy that prevents unauthorized USB storage devices from being mounted.
The only USB flash drives that are permitted are the encrypted ones from Kensington. They are issued with every system.
None of our systems will see a BB in Mass Storage mode.

We have a severe case of domain policy overload here.
We have more policies than grains of sand on a beach.

lol @ you.

The Playbook, like the storm series of phones will suffer from excessive memory leaks, aspecting delays, limited app store, and will get killed by Apple. Its not because the world is filled with fanboys, Apple outsells everyone because they make a legitimately better product.

Please go back to the MaxPC forum if you have nothing constructive to say.

are you forgetting the fact that it will have horrible battery life compared to the iPad? how are you going to use a product that dies on you?

Depending on what you do that could be insane. I would hate to be lock down that badly since sometime I would want to take a copy of a file home so I could look over it or do a little work on it from home
