I’m on an every other year upgrade cycle for my aw. If this is true. I may keep my aw5 and wait for the 8.

Stop complaining everybody. Thanks to our demanding attitudes Apple has to launch new iPhones, Watches and iPads every year.

Remember when they took 3 years to develop an Mac OS X release? But now we want MORE, MORE, MORE. FASTER, FASTER, FASTER.

We're never satisfied. Even if Apple would launch an Apple Watch that could fly us to the moon, you guys would complain wHy iT dOeSn'T fLy uS tO mArS.
Well said. Couldn’t agree more! I have a hard time breaking into the ecosystem, let alone keeping up with upgrades.

The sense of entitlement is truly staggering. You have a touch screen that can play music, take an ECG, connect to wifi and Bluetooth, records a ton of health info and alerts you when it detects issues, runs apps, has GPS navigation, lets you take pictures from your phone camera, lets you contact anyone via text or voice, lets you open your garage, etc etc etc… all in a tiny little box with less volume than a floss container, worn on your wrist.

“ugh apple where’s the temperature sensor already get your R&D under control BORING RELEASE”

I just got an SE. I would really love the ECG and SpO2 features, but I’ll just wait for Apple to add the glucose sensor and get the whole set!

For everyone upset about the Apple Watch not including the blood monitoring sensors for the 2021 model - this was to be expected. The company rumoured to be developing the technology and sensors, Rockley Photonics, has stated in their investor presentation from March that the roadmap for commercial launch of the first generation module is set for 2022. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple waits for the kinks to get ironed out and implements the Gen 2 product in 2023.

There’s been a lot of smoke around the glucose sensor especially this year. I still believe it’s coming. If not, certainly some new major feature is.

A redesign alone isn’t going to cut it. Apple always introduces at least one new feature.

Series 2: Big speed upgrade and waterproofing/swimming
Series 3: GPS (been a while but I thought gps on the lower end models was the new thing)
Series 4: ECG
Series 5: Always on Display
Series 6: Oxygen levels
Series 7: Just looks? I don’t think so…

No, Apple releases those products on a yearly basis because they know they can sell them on a yearly basis and generate a crap ton of volume and more importantly, a crap ton of revenue... and profit. Never forget the profit. The idea that Apple does yearly releases because customer's demanding attitude is absurd. Apple planned those products from the ground up with yearly release schedules being a critical part of the product life cycle.

The products that don't generate a crap ton of volume, don't get yearly releases. Apple releases what they release, when they want to release, and include the features they want in the release regardless of what customers want. They always have.

Of course people are never satisfied. It's part and parcel of being people. Never being satisfied is how people got to the moon in the first place. It's how they're going to get to mars.

Always-on display, UWB, always-on altimeter, compass plus the usual silicon-based improvements (faster, better battery life, wider coverage for cellular model, adding 5 GHz Wifi), all came with AW5 & 6.

Always-on display is a killer feature for some. Better outdoor activity capabilities (always-on altimeter, compass, better battery life while tracking activity) is significant for others.
Well, I was talking about myself. For me AW4 was biggest update ever. New design, ECG and CPU so good, that they put it to the AW5 next year (different name, but same arch. and efficiency, with only minor changes like compass).

Always on display - for some it might be killer feature, but what I read on Macrumors, a lot of users turned this off, cause of battery drain.
The only cool feature for me is this Oximeter, but it is too little for me to upgrade.

Once again - just my opinion, for me AW4 is still best price/value Apple Watch ever. There is reason why Apple removed ECG from SE and still sells AW3… AW4 would be a big competition for AW5 and AW6 with price drop for older device.

I mean....what new features could there be? Other than longer battery life I dont know what could be improved.
Glucose monitor integrated into an Apple Watch could be a game changer for millions of diabetics with relatively soft symptoms who need just checking regularly their blood sugar and control their diet.

A body temperature meter together with the rest of the sensors could allow for more accurate diagnostics.

Bigger curved display that goes around your wrist could open the door for entirely new use cases.

Create wrist bands that house external batteries, additional sensors, camera module, and so forth, could allow customizing the watch to your specific needs (fitness, communications, leisure, general health monitoring, etc).

These are just few ideas...

I care more about a thinner Watch than smaller bezels. Oh well, perhaps next year.

Totally agree. Apple is moving in the wrong direction with all of its products. It latest product 12.9 iPad Pro, new iPhones and if this AW rumor is true, all are moving thicker. Wrong direction Apple, keep your devices lighter and thin.

Obviously lost someone who had the right vision.

I was hoping for more, but I really need to update my S1. So as I finally make the next jump AW8 will be a huge jump!

Oh that’s fine by me! Got a series 6 for Christmas and absolutely love it! No need to update this year so I can focus on saving for a new iPhone instead! Nice! Then next year new Apple Watch!

Sorry but no, we have a right to complain.

It's not like the Apple Watch is groundbreaking, Apple could do a lot more than thinner edges and updated UWB.

A lot of people are crying out for longer battery life (not one charge a day, one charge a week), more sensors, etc to bring it up to speed with rival products.

Love Apple Watch, love Apple, but not going to fall into the trap of endorsing mediocracy!

I may finally upgrade my still working, just-fine Series 2. Or I might wait another year. It's still working, after all. Battery lasts a couple days, not a blemish on the case or screen (thanks, stainless space black coating) it tells the time, shows notifications and records workouts, pretty much all I need.

I will buy Glucose monitoring but others are not Apple-like.... they will not have wrist covering display and extra thick wrist bands.... Apple is quite conservative with their product design and those you suggested are a bit radical.

I really liked the design leaks and the display closer to the surface sounds great, but I don‘t think there is any feature mentioned in this new rumour that would necessitate a thicker Watch?
