I had my S4 replaced just before the AC+ expired, so it’s doing great and not really that old. Will see closer to the S7 launch.

What is likely to get me to upgrade from my Series 5 isn’t the introduction of thinner bezels or additional health sensors, but rather the form factor. The current form is fine, where at least to me it’s more about the function of the Watch, not the form, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have both. Just like with the current iPhone and iPad Pro designs, the flat edges have a stronger look and in stainless or titanium could be very stunning.
I’m just concerned with hard corners on something that regularly gets accidentally knocked against something.

Not sure the squared off edges are going to be more prone to getting knocked against things compared to the current rounded corners. It happens to me a fair amount and my aluminum Watch is mostly unscathed. Knowing that I do rely on my Watch daily, something I wasn’t sure would be the case when I bought it a couple of years ago, I’m definitely going to spring for a titanium version next. It should help with scratch and impact resistance for the case and the sapphire lens included makes the screen very scratch resistant.

Four pages of comments and no one mentioned a watch with a wireless plan where you don’t need a phone. Am I the only one that wants to ditch a phone?

Happy with my SS S5, which I got for $349 from Best Buy a few months ago. While it would be incredible for Apple to release some game-changing feature, I'm glad that my S5 will remain current. Honestly I don't see how much more than can do... blood glucose monitoring would be a game-changer for sure. So would blood pressure monitoring, but I don't know if that's technologically feasible. I suppose a temperature monitor would be useful for women who are tracking fertility, as temperature varies with phases of the menstrual cycle, but for men it wouldn't do much (if you have a fever you'd probably already know it).

Exactly. I don't have a phone, don't want a phone; my iPad does everything I want. The Apple Watch would be the ideal complement to it. Still waiting for Watch independence.

The main reason I'm looking forward to the S7 is that I can pick up a 2nd hand S6 for less money!

What about the rumored BAC sensor? Last I read that was slated for 2022.

I’ll be upgrading as soon as it is added. 😂

i've read those rumors too, but it seems impossible to believe. i struggle to think apple would ever allow a BAC sensor in the watch if only because of the liability when someone is drunk and kills someone on the road only to say "my apple watch told me i was ok..."

Basically redesign is the only thing that’s different. Apple Watch is so far ahead of the competition they know they don’t need to do much

part of it is the need to spread the updates over the years. they know that mearly updating the look of the watch (flatter sides, smaller bezel, etc.) will be the feature that triggers updates this year. why "waste" putting new biometric sensors in this year when they can use it to drive upgrades for the Apple Watch Series 8 and 9 which likely will look exactly like the 7? wish it wasn't this way but that's the deal...

Yeah, the reference is to 'updated' ultra Wideband technology.

Does that mean a new ultra wideband chip?

There was an article here a few months ago that Apple either bought or contracted with a company that was developing the technology for BP through the watch, but that also was expected to take a few years to perfect/integrate. To do it without a cuff would definitely be ground-breaking!

Will keep my watch 5 too, I will make the switch when they find a way to have at least 3 days battery…

Agreed - that would be a good reason to upgrade for me too. Being able to take a weekend away without battery concerns would be amazing.

I didn’t think the blood glucose monitor would be ready so soon. That is a major medical device breakthrough. Still a few years away I think. Better battery life is always good when talking about the Apple watch tho. 👍🏼

Stop complaining everybody. Thanks to our demanding attitudes Apple has to launch new iPhones, Watches and iPads every year.

Remember when they took 3 years to develop an Mac OS X release? But now we want MORE, MORE, MORE. FASTER, FASTER, FASTER.

We're never satisfied. Even if Apple would launch an Apple Watch that could fly us to the moon, you guys would complain wHy iT dOeSn'T fLy uS tO mArS.
so true. Look at Garmin, they go 2 years in between and then do .5 releases for another 2 years, but their stuff from 10yrs ago still works.

I remember one of my colleagues who had T1D telling me 25 years ago that there would be a cure in his lifetime, sadly that wasn't the case.

Having said that there do seem to be much better insulin options and less invasive testing now, my son who has T1D is able to manage his blood sugar well.

problem is that all of them require blood contact via pierced skin. I guess they are fine but they also need to be replace devery 2 weeks. Like hanging out in the pool? Good luck with a Dexcom staying on over an hour. I honestly have doubts that this will replace normal testing as the money to made from testing supplies is far to great for pharmaceutical companies to just let go. I will continue rocking my Series 2 until it’s dead or if I get a new watch gifted to me.

noooo. Blood sugar level reading not likely for several more years.....Waiting "several more years" for anything positive that's diabetic related seems to be all we diabetics do...However the several more years never seems to come to an end....
Type 1 or 2? Type 2 diabetics have more control over their condition.

I have been using my applewatch generation 0, which I bought way back in 2014 I think?... and it still pretty good, no updates since ios5, but I have been waiting for it to die before I purchase the new one... perhaps by the time when the Applewatch SE 2 comes out...
