How about being able to run two Apple Watch apps at a time. I want to do timer based runs using the app “seconds” whilst also tracking the activity in the workout app.

A more practical solution may well be to just wear an Apple Watch on both wrists? There are limits to what can be done with a single small screen, and Apple is absolutely not going to "excessively" complicate the UI for limited use cases. I sometimes wear two watches for a similar reason, to have two simultaneous screens/loci of control. It's not even that expensive a solution if you have an old Apple Watch sitting around, or buy a gen 2 on eBay. The "secondary screen" can do it's job fine even if it's a lot slower.

I understand your frustration, but sometimes the best way to deal with a problem is to just adopt a technological fix, rather than waiting for the world to change to better comport with your desires.

Isn't the bolded part redundant?

Yeah, as presented I think the claim reflects confusion.
BUT a "Sleep Mode" does make sense insofar as it toggles (at least)
- Do Not Disturb (across both Watch and Phone) AND
- Puts the Watch screen into Theater Mode (don't want it to light up while sleeping, and saves power) AND
- Does the same sort of thing (darkens screen) on phone for same reason (So screen does not light up for a few seconds as notifications come in) AND
- who knows what else (maybe put the Watch in a special sleep-tracking mode)?

Yes. SO that's why everyone cried about a dark mode and we're getting one...

And how long have people been crying about a dark mode? Since like iOS 7 came out and we are getting it 6 versions later "allegedly" Don't forget these are just rumors. Plans could be scraped if Apple feels they can't implement if perfectly.

A revamped Reminders app with four default sections laid out in a grid: tasks to be done today, all tasks, scheduled tasks, and flagged tasks
A revamped Books app with updated progress tracker and new rewards system

I really like a lot of the features being added across the board (Dark Mode obviously glorious). But the revamped Reminders sounds like could free me from outrageous prices for what amounts to simple scheduling / goal / habit tracking type applications. Hoping the improved reminders app can fill that need for me. (Book progress / rewards system sounds nice too)

smh, no. Just because he wants mouse support, doesn’t mean he should get a laptop.

Yes, it absolutely positively 100% means that.

Stop trying to make the iPad something it isn't. These people just want a $300 Apple pseudo-laptop for the moments when that suits them, and then an iPad the rest of the time... which they will then bitch about endlessly because of how terrible it is.

POINT OF ORDER: It is still not possible to cut and paste a calendar event in iOS! I repeat: you still can’t copy & paste an appointment in your iPhone or iPad calendar. So I say to the people who toil away at that docked spaceship in Cupertino, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS SACRED AND TRUE, FIX THIS INSANE AND COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY HANDICAP!!!

It would take an intern less than a day to make this happen. So make it happen.

Couldn’t disagree with you more. Some kind of cursor support for the iPad is an absolute necessity if it is ever to become a serious writing tool. But I also (perhaps) disagree with the previous poster as well, because I’m not sure a mouse is the way to accomplish that. But I’ll leave the elegant solution finding to Apple.

Such cursor support actually exists on newer iPhones with 3D Touch, which allow a hard press on the keyboard to make a cursor appear. But iPads don’t have 3D Touch and regardles, that would be useless when a keyboard is connected. iPad needs an elegant cursor solution, ASAP.

Agreed. It’s annoying that I can’t track a run using the Nike app and the Apple Fitness app at the same time.
[doublepost=1557179299][/doublepost]Also please add:
  • Massive Siri improvements
  • Massive Home app and HomeKit improvements

And why will stability be worse?

iOS 11 brought a slew of pro-iPad features, but the cost was bogging down all but the most powerful devices. I guess that’s always a risk whenever you cram too many new features into a release. Hopefully, Apple doesn’t undo the gains they made with ios 12, because iOS 13 sounds like it will be sweet for iPad Pro users like myself.

I never had any issues with ios 11 on my devices.

I recall iOS 11 being a noticeable drag on my 9.7” iPad Pro. To the point where if my iPad was mirrored to the Apple TV in my classroom, simply launching notability would sometimes cause my iPad to drop its connection (presumably due to the lack of ram). I also had issues keeping even a single app open in the background.

I remember jumping on the iOS 12 public beta the moment it was made available and being impressed by the immediate and very noticeable performance improvements.

I had the 10.5 inch pro and the iPhone X so they probably ran it a bit better,

Well, I think I’ll finally stop updating my devices if IOS13 does not bring native USB storage and Mouse support (iPad). IOS is at a place where it needs to bring me productivity improvements. It has most other things I need, but I can’t really use it to do real work due to these stupid principal decisions from Apple of not including what’s really needed.

So they’ll continue to be consumption devices on IOS12 rather than having to go through half a year of “bugginess” to never quite reach the speed of the current IOS version (which incidently is both slower and more buggy that IOS 12.1 was).... Wonder why that is.....

These things are usually conceived at least a year or two in advance at the least. And imo iOS 13 was supposed to be iOS 12, if not for the horrendous iOS 11. So it won’t be surprising iOS 13 having a ton of new stuff as it got an extra development cycle thanks to iOS 11.

Imo the numbering system gets a bit silly now, I mean after iOS 15 or so, it feels that maybe Apple should rethink the naming scheme.

What’s to rethink about the numbering system?

What will that buy them? I mean, the watch has already been usable without an iPhone if you spend the extra money on cellular. But the watch doesn't really reach its full potential until paired with an iPhone. Who would even buy a *truly* independent Apple Watch? Without iPhone integration, it would essentially be a very expensive Fitbit.

And, as another poster mentioned, there really isn't much of a market for independent Apple Watch apps. I'm on my third watch and have yet to install an app that was truly independently useful - oh, wait, there was that workout app which allowed me to stay in a preferred heart rate zone....never mind - even that app needed to write its health/workout data back to the iPhone's Health app/data store.

I know a few people who would love to live the wearables life Apple Watch + AirPods, with an iPad Mini for home use/travel. They barely need a computer (the iPad Mini) and normally just want to go about their day with a minimum of devices (Apple Watch + AirPods).

I think I am one of the few who doesn't care at all about a home screen refresh on the iPhone or a redesign. It's all superficial to me and makes no difference. I don't need to see a pretty sun with clouds on my home screen. I just need my phone to run the apps I need it to when I need it do. I never understood the "I am bored with iOS" mentality.

I'd love the option for my home screen (even better, my lock screen) to have the Klok widget presented so I can instantly view different time zones and the Google Transit Departures widget so I can instantly see departure times for nearby train stations. I'm still on a TouchID phone, but with FaceID, I see no reason why looking at your iPhone should not mean being delivered user configured/selected information vice only viewing notifications.

At this point, I can customize the information delivered when I glance at my Apple Watch more that I can with my iPhone.

“Simpler folder management” ... so basically bringing the dumbed down iOS mail app to Mac? No thanks.

Apple is really dead set on alienating its power users, huh?

The bit about being able to use your iPad as an external display for your Mac is pretty cool. Hopefully this will work on older models and not just the 2018 USB-C equipped ones.

Does a similar widget not exist for iOS? Is it the swipe right that’s bothersome?

With a TouchID phone, I touch my phone to access information.

With my motion focused watchOS device, I raise my arm and I'm presented with information.

With FaceID, it seems a reasonable expansion of FaceID that I'd be able to glance at my phone and view information that I use frequently.

And yes, even with a TouchID phone, I'd rather like having the option of it defaulting to whatever page I want, including the widgets page without me swiping right. I doubt I'm the only person who would find this useful.

Dark mode is the number 1 feature?, really?. Is this "innovation" at its best?. Wow.
How about making the email app render fonts in a post-35-years-old-guy size?, like Android or like iOS 9? (None email client in iOS can fix this as they must use apple render engine AFAIK).
How about better portrait mode and support it since iPhone 8? (no not-enough professor power excuses, as always Apple has said their processors are much more powerful than those used in Android, and many Android devices support bokeh faster and in more scenarios than IPhone 12 and Xs.
How about improve and open to more apps Siri? (Can you say play x in Spotify to Siri?, should be possible, right?).
How about Mac and IOS Safari tabs sync consistently?
How about and alarm clock that can be set to your music in Apple Music or Spotify?
How about removing the dot from the right hand side of the space bar in the keyboard?
How about an unobtrusive volume indicator?
How about Apple senior managers actually use the things they sell?
And long etcetera list that is not crazy to ask for any company or a ex-trillion dollar company.
Really Apple, Dark mode will be your next big marketing move?, wow.

I think Apple would prefer to remove the 13 from iOS 13, just for "bad luck" reasons. Maybe change the name to iOS Air, then IOS Air 2, then iOS pro, and things like that ;)
