Just give os macOS for our new iPads M1
Quite unlikely at the moment, IMO, but any iPadOS advancements will be very welcome, of course. Looking forward to seeing what the WWDC might bring. ✌️
Just give os macOS for our new iPads M1
I hope iPadOS 15 is more than just parity with iOS widget support. All the iPad Pros released since 2018 have been held back by the os and not the hardware.
Please Apple turn iPadOS a real productivity operating system. We need more than incremental changes to iPadOS this year.
Lack of privacy for those services and/or the companies behind the services? Facebook, for example...
I would love that!I don’t buy for a second that people wouldn’t be going crazy for an iPad that turned into an iMac when docked.
I don’t know if macOS is coming to iPad so much as the iPad theoretically should be able to run any app the M1 Macs can run. This is huge for Lightroom and Photoshop users like my wife. It would be neat to see macOS available on the iPad when docked. Other than the different interface (Touch vs Pointer), why wouldn’t the new iPad Pros be able to run macOS? I would love to run macOS on my iPad Pro when attached to my Magic Keyboard then return back to iPadOS when off.
MacRumors:
The company is planning a new feature that will allow users to set different notification preferences, such as if the phone makes a sound or not, depending on their current status.

With an M1 now powering the new iPad Pros, hopefully there will be some new features to take advantage of that power for those users.
I imagine it'll be more along the lines of what they're doing for iOS apps on Mac, in reverse. Allowing a developer to mark their Mac app to be available for install on an iPad.
Take the handcuffs off, Apple. You just created a small, portable iMac. Widgets aren’t gonna cut it.
Seems to me the leak is well calculated - They just announced a beast of an iPad Pro. Reviewers are probably getting devices as we speak. I can predict that the main negative feedback will be OS limitations. Hinting to changes in iPadOS home screen does provide with free publicity in review videos without spoiling anything
Idk why someone is giving a thumbs down.
They just took their mac specific ARM chip and put it in an ipad. Anyone who doesn't believe that macos isn't coming to the iPad is either insanely ignorant or oblivious at this point.
Hopefully iPadOS 15 brings some bigger changes than customized Home screen.
Yeah I agree. Apple’s hardware is the best I’ve seen it, probably ever. From the iPhones to iPad lineup, to the M1 Macs, Watch, AirTag, etc. Now time for the software to catch up on the iPad.

I mean, with the power of M1, surely advanced-neuronal-computational-machine-learning adding of two numbers has to be possible? 😂Maybe we’ll finally get a native calculator and weather app for the iPad?.?.?.🤣

Makes sense. Last year was an iPhone year, this year will be about iPadOS and taking advantage of the M1.
Maybe it's a redesign that allow for better multi-tasking ?It's not the home screen that holds iPadOS back though is it (though I agree it's not great right now). It's its multitasking capabilities.
I also like his thinking here and think it is more realistic.I don’t buy for a second that people wouldn’t be going crazy for an iPad that turned into an iMac when docked.
What's so unrealistic about turning a device with mac hardware into a mac when connected to a dock? No need to reinvent the wheel. Just take the handcuffs off.I also like his thinking here and think it is more realistic.
This is definently what I hope they do as it really would make the iPad Pro a useful device to many people who needed a mac beforeI imagine it'll be more along the lines of what they're doing for iOS apps on Mac, in reverse. Does iPadOS support multiple users already? I don't own one, but it seems only logical to do so, and it's been requested for a long time. And now, since iPads are more powerful than ever.
As for macOS, I think there are many areas of improvement, if only to catch up features available on iOS. Like more granular customizations to notifications (such as choosing specific sound alerts for specific apps) or to specific contacts (specific sounds through iMessage of FaceTime). And, well, having the same Clock app than iOS, with the ability to set alarms, see time zones, etc.
I like the idea of a privacy menu that gathers what every app is doing.
Because most iPad doesn’t have M1? If people want macOS they can buy MBA which is more or less the same price. What's so unrealistic about turning a device with mac hardware into a mac when connected to a dock? No need to reinvent the wheel. Just take the handcuffs off.
