Took my preordered max back to my local apple store Saturday and exchanged for an xs. I have an x that I am handing off to my wife or otherwise I would just stay with the x. I have come to really like the size of the x and now xs over the plus and now max size iPhone. Don't get me wrong, the max is an awesome device and the screen is brilliant, however I just like the size of the xs.

I agree with you OP, a phone should be just that, a phone. Not a phablet or anything. It should be sizeable enough to use with one hand easily and light and fit in your pocket comfortably. Get a phablet or tablet if you want a bigger screen sized device or you like to use 2 hands.

This morning I picked up my XS Max pre-order. This is my first time using the larger screen version of any device. The iPhone X was the largest screen I had ever had up until now.

I decided to go with the Max model as my fingers are large and it was trouble some to type as my I would constantly miss spell works because of my finger size.

I regret the Max. Its damn near impossible to type with one hand and everything seems zoomed in some apps. I have to be honest and say that I prefer the regular sized model over the Max.

I will be downgrading. Anyone else have similar complaints.

Did you try enabling the one handed keyboard?

Yes I have. It makes it better. I think for me its the way I have to hold it one handed. It doesnt balance the same as Im use to but I guess I will eventually find that perfect spot

I find it much easier using the XS Max one handed when using a popsocket with it.

Once I realized that I two-handed my iPhone X, the Max was a no brainer since I was getting more screen for my phone habits. My hands aren't small it's just felt more comfortable to use two.

*Boy none of what I just wrote comes across as PG.

It’s all a matter of personal preference, everyone is going to be subjective to their own opinion on how they feel about a bigger phone compared to a regular size phone.

You can’t convince someone who uses a plus size phone and likes it, that they should be using the smaller phone just because you do and vice versa of them thinking you’d like a bigger phone because bigger is better.

So regardless of my own opinion that I do not prefer large phones, it’s up to you to decide what you rather have in your pocket or your hand and you must be happy with your purchase that cost you $1000 or $1500.

Personally, I have an X and like the size. The Max would not bode well in my pocket in meetings and on the go since it’s a phablet more than a phone.

I think I like the 5.8 better, but I’ll roll with the Max for a year. Give it a fair look. There are benefits in certain scenarios.
Agreed, I will enjoy this for a year. It then gets handed down to my partner just as my X did. We will have another choice in a year.

Like the Max. Wish it was 6.7/6.8”. May wnd up regretting not getting the 246GB though, we’ll see.

I vote for giving it a few days. I was surprised on how much I liked the plus phones after using my wife's 7. So tiny.

But then it only took a hour or so of use with the X to get used to the size again.

I love the Max. I do not use it with only one hand, however. Why not try holding it with one hand and the other hand do the typing on it? Using it with one hand; there is a much greater chance of dropping the Max too!

I always use two hands to text and use the phone. If people think this phone is too big - what did they think of the "brick" cell phone of the 80s? Lol

I would probably prefer using the larger phones. I understand this is an issue for some.

The bigger concern for me is pocket fit. I think one needs to be quite certain this will work for them.

Well for starters we actually called people, and we thought it was pretty neat to be able to do that from anywhere.

Couldn’t get used to the size of the Max. It would slip out of my jogger pants, and felt too large and heavy in my slacks. Also couldn’t get used to the gold color. Went back to my silver X. Perfect size. Happy now.

I type 2-handed, always have even back in the iPhone 3G days, so doesn't bother me. I did my adjusting moving from the 5s to the 6 Plus years ago. Avoided the X as didn't want to lose the screen width/ratio of the Plus. Picked up the Max 256GB and am loving it. This isn't aimed at the OP but there are too many people whining about the latest iPhones being too big for them... no-one is forcing you to get an iPhone, there are other smaller phones available. I wouldn't buy a huge pick-up/4x4/SUV, then blame the car company because it doesn't fit in my garage....

So guys, isnt the XS a more sweet spot size, not too big, not too small ? Just perfect a max limit to what a Phone could be or should be ? I mean you can have a Phone as big a size as you want but you dont have to call it a Phone then you have to call it a Phablet ! Doesn't the XS Max look like a Phablet ?
