The translator function is unique.

I still have not heard airpods. How do they sound? As good as Bose QuiteControl 30?

The only features that appeal to me personally with the pro are the moulded fit and that it's waterproof. If this things had a W1 it'd be a much more compelling product. I use too many devices to want to deal with the inconvenience of having to re-pair every time I switch.

The fact that you have to re-pair it with other devices is a legit gripe. This is the reason I bought the Headphone in addition to the Dash. Its really is a PITA to re-pair it to different devices. Even with two Bragis, I have to pair/re-pair it not infrequently. I still have some corded earphones I keep handy for devices that aren't already paired if I don't feel like going through the hassle.

Haha, I understand and somewhat agree. But I'm more willing to put up a lot of money for a great phone or laptop than a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Even $159 is pushing it for the Airpods. Audio quality still has a long way to go for Bluetooth.
I know what you're saying. I feel feel that way about running shoes. I may only spend $60 a pair because I can't really tell the difference and don't really care what they look like, while I may spend $400 on my dress shoes. I'm not an audiophile, so I'm not spending the money on the audio quality. Having said that, they must sound good to MY ears. The largest percentage of use for me is at the gym or running which really isn't the best listening conditions to begin with. I bought them because I think they look good (shallow I know), fit my ears better than non-in-the-canal ear phones, sound decent to me and have good controls. Having said that, I don't really like the controls on the "headphone". You have to press way too hard on the physical buttons.

I'd consider these if they said Bluetooth connectivity was improved. I've owned the dash and I couldn't even carry my phone in my left pocket and not have Bluetooth connection issues. I can walk anywhere in my house or carry my phone any way I like with no issues using AirPods. Bluetooth was horrible on the dash.

I own the airpods and sure, I like them.

But the smug "W1 or DIEE!!" is a bit weird. Aside from the Bluetooth address auto-pairing with iCloud devices (saves you 1x pairing trouble) what's the stunning specialty of the holy grail W1 chip? Apple fan smugness and exclusivity? Range? Sure, I have other bluetooth cans that have the same range. Swipe up and switch? Eh, settings just as fast.

Serious question.

Without W1 it's difficult to consider any competitors to the AirPods I have. Apple has made it so seamless with all my devices. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way having read the thread so far.

I love "The Headphone" by Bragi ... but the feature that supposedly allows you to hear outside noise completely and utterly sucks. The audio quality is decent though and I don't have any connectivity issues.

you can get custom ear molds for any in-ear headphones. i've seen regular Apple EarPods inside custom ear molds.

From my understanding it's entirely different product and they don't just snap on custom ear molds, but instead build it as one piece (I would imagine this has to do with waterproofing, etc).

Machine translation is, for the most part, still pretty terrible, especially for longer and more complex sentences, let alone a conversation. Either they have somehow made a enormous leap forward in translation technology, or the "live" translation feature is little more than a gimmick. My money is on the later.

Can you expand on that? I thought music was tailored to the artist's ears.

I believe they are saying that because the Dash Pro is built custom to your ear that the sound quality is inherently better as there is no distortion from the sound traveling through your ear canal and no sound escaping.

I'd consider these if they said Bluetooth connectivity was improved.

They said it is :) Finger's crossed on this end.

I had the Dash for a week. I LOVED them. Had to return them - because they friggin' didn't fit in my ears. My ears are small enough that I just couldn't get a secure fit. The Dash would have been perfect and exactly what I've been looking for (cable-free headphones for exercise, possibility of leaving phone at home thanks to AW2 and internal storage, waterproof for swimming) and yes, I was willing to pay a premium for this. The usability with the touch was neat and admittedly, they just look great. If only they had fit. And there isn't anything that comes nearly as close from any of the competitors. The Samung Gear-whatever-theyre-called would be the right size, but Androind-only. Them and also the Airpods aren't waterproof. And let's face it, the Airpods just look ridiculous.

I'm veeeeeery tempted of getting the tailored Dash. They're f*** damn expensive (I had a hard time getting the original Dash because, yes, it is a lot of money). But if they really end up fitting my ears and have been improved in terms of bluetooth, then yes, I'm definitely back in the market for some Dash.

And while I'm repeatedly reading about the W1 chip being superior and not having one being a big killer, I keep wondering about that. I have the Bose QC35 and don't have any connectivity issues even among different devices. I have yet to understand what is so much better about my husband's Beats with W1. Well yeah, the initial pairing itself might be easier. Great. Headphones are so much more than just the pairing process, though. It certainly wouldn't be my main focus.

I really had hoped something like the Dash would have come from Apple. At least for me, Apple greatly under-delivered with the Airpods

I got a bit of a Wow feel from watching that. On the other hand though, I've bought a custom ear solution for $20 (moldable plastic that you heat up with hot water, allow it to cool a bit, then stick in your ear and mount the speakers in it). The process is similar to making a sports mouth guard at home. I can't remember what they are called, but I have them hear in my hands. They work great and the earphones will never fall out because they have a custom fit. I just took the $20 plastic part and put them on $20 earphones. Sound is fine, fit is perfect. I could fairly easily get the plastic parts and put them over the Apple AirPods, I think, if I had a new set of the base plastic mold.

Hey I was wondering is the noise cancellation better than the Bose? I would definitely go for an improvement on this score. Especially if it cancels particular noises!

It's not active noise cancellation (as in the Bose), so I'd go with no. Subjectively, it might be better because these are in-ear headphones and thus naturally have a better insolation against outside noise then any other headphones.

"The Dash Pro tailored by Starkey, with personally-tailored fitting and more nuanced audio-boosting features at 5,000 audiologists throughout the United States and Canada. The Dash Pro tailored by Starkey is set to benefit users by allowing them to use "Fourth Platform" contextual computing interfaces that enhance their ability to interpret audio while enabling UI interactions through The Dash's motion sensing."

What? What does any of those sentences mean?

AND, "hearable"? Please..it is a wearable at best. Don't make up nonsense Bragi.

I totally agree. A classic marketing statement full of padding. Someone with A+ in creative writing working for PR, marketing or ad agency are good at writing BS.

Go Bragi! I don't own any of their products, and I suspect it will take a while before I do, but I love that they're innovating hard in the earbud space. Ever since seeing the first Dash concept, I've thought they were going in the right direction. I've got a set of AirPods because I need simple and reliable, but if the bluetooth is dependable, the noise canceling works and the sound quality is no worse than the AirPods, I might consider a set of Dash Pros.

Here's my request: don't go the Sharper Image route. Make something solid and reliable. All these other features are interesting, but focus on good sound and a reliable connection.

And please, don't sully your brand with "4D menu" mumbo jumbo...

Ahhhh, a nice black ... want ...

And the translator function I would like to try; does it also work with wife's language; so man can understand what wife is saying ?

Can you swim with the Airpods in? Just wondering. Also the Dash are much more discreet than the Airpods. I own The Dash and The Headphone - both excellent products. I will most likely be adding the Dash Pro to my headphone family.

Any issues with the Dash at all? I wanted a pair but heard there were audio syncing issues..maybe it was just the first run?

wow, lots of serious fanboiiiiiism here. it's okay though, i'm a huge fan of apple myself, but holy smokes guys, as an owner of both companies, including the bragi headphone (it's a different model), i can say that the bragi ones had no connection issues, paired fine, sounded fine. i stopped wearing my AirPods because hated the way they hung out, and got a lot of bad stares cause they sort of look douchy. the bragi sit in better. the major complaint i have is the controls are tactile so i have to push hard (into my ear) to change anything. they are a lot more discreet, sucks you can't charge in the case though (original bragi headphones).
