its gonna end with Walt Waking up in the parking lot of his Dr's office after being diagnosed with cancer . it was all a dream

lol
she's the one who put the final nail in the white family, with her gloating.

she's not a 'good' character anyways. remember her compulsive lying and stealing?

No one is good. But what about Walt? Don't you think he had something to do with the White family and its demise?

I'd say Marie is the one adult character in the show closest to being truly good. She has her quirks and bad habits (plus she's kind of annoying), but this season has shown her in a much more positive light. Unlike Walt, who's idea of love and support is rather superficial, Marie knows that you sometimes have to hurt and harass the people you love to truly help them. She might end up seeming kind of pushy because of it, but you get the impression that she does it because she truly cares about her family.

That scene where she's drilling Skyler in the carwash wasn't gloating at all, even if it looks that way at first glance. It was her (as corny as this is gonna sound) administering some very tough love.

I think one could argue that Walt is quite the altruist. He just has a skill set that he knew how to exploit, and he actions while illegal would have helped his family prosper after his inevitable death. But the 'good guys' aka Hank and Marie had to go and f it all up.

If you're an ends justify the means kinda guy, then yeah. But think about it, for Walt to help his family, 15 people had to die before he could achieve his goal. You can add 150 more to that number if you're talking about the indirect consequences of his actions. Add on top of that, all the countless lives that have problem been ruined by his product.

Then you have to question why he had to do it in the first place. If it weren't for his overbearing sense of pride, he would've made millions alongside Elliot at Grey Matters.

What it all comes down to is that Walt put himself into the position he found himself in at the beginning of the show, and he put himself into the situation he's finding himself in now. All the justifications he came up with were nothing more than excuses to fix his previous mistakes.

As for altruism. He says he's doing it all for his family, but from season 3 on, I've always figured Walt never did anything that didn't somehow stoke his own ego. I mean he could've worked for Gus for 3 months, made 1.5 million dollars, and set his family up for life. But he didn't like being under someone elses thumb, them getting all the credit for his hard work. He wanted more. So he went farther than he ever should have, and ended up being ruined, once again, by his own overbearing sense of pride.

Dude's a bastard, man. :p

...and yet despite all that...

Heisenberg mode: Activated.

...you just can't help but go "**** yeah" whenever you see him get ready to do something drastic and awesome. The closing shot of tonights episode probably made all of us tingly in our nethers.

the finale is going to be huge! Watching Jesse's girlfriend get her brains blown out was very hard. I feel terrible for the boy. This episode was great because rather than glorifying the drug lifestyle it shows the true darkness and hopelessness involved and how it ruins so many lives. I am talking about hardcore synthetic drugs I don't feel the same way about mary jane. Wow what a buildup to the finale

It's going to be fascinating to see how they tie up all the loose threads:

  • Jesse vs Jack's gang. How much more can Jesse be tormented?
  • How will Walt get revenge on his former business partners (the Heisenberg re-boot)?
  • Saul - one minute Walt wanted him to come along, then he was gone. Will Walt ever call Saul again?
  • What happens to Walt's family, including Marie? Will Skyler or Walt Jr. ever wish anyone "Have an A1 day!" again?
  • Todd and Lydia. Will they find romance sitting back-to-back?
Lots to do in a bit over one hour. I can't wait.

Hank was the moral center of the show. And now Walt jr has taken his place. He knows he and his family can use that money but it's blood money and he wants nothing to do with it.

Emotions over common sense, but yeah- he's a pretty decent kid.

(On a side note, when he was called out of class for his phone call in the principle's office... I don't remember high school being so much all about learning to that level! Who knew high school in New Mexico is taken so seriously?)
