There is really no way to put that mockup on the wall. I like the look, but without a removable stand, the 24" iMac can't be wall-mounted.

23 inches of pleasant work.

That's what she said.... :D

But in all seriousness, Apple would never make a computer like that. The easel was a nice idea when it was around but the whole 'floating' computer/monitor look is a pretty popular design and the current stand achieves that well. If Apple decides to revise their ACD's and/or iMacs they will both have a stand similar to the current one, not like the old one.

You didn't make that.

In Photoshop - did. Not in real life, though.

Sorry, maybe you didn't see it, but the original mock-up that went along with the rumor was exactly that.

Nope. It was made of new Cinema Display.

I doubt you made it out of a Cinema Display. AS that mockup was made out of a PowerMac G5.

Guys, let it go, it's a frickin' mock-up...

It's not going to be aluminum anyway. They're going back to their roots with this one:

I mostly agree. It really doesn't matter. But in our defense, all you have to do is scroll over it. If it's so unimportant you shouldn't bother replying to it. (Don't take any of that offensively. It's just my train of thought.)

Believe me, I say plenty of stupid stuff on these forums that I usually regret. I guess I just can't help it.

Look here for more

I'll keep working on it just for fun. Let me know what should change.

The solution to the "Wall Mount" problem is to make the stand as is in two sections which attach at the center section.

Make the center section so it can mount or not mount (like in an option included free) in between the monitor back and the base section of the stand.

The size of the adjoining parts would have to be uniform at and including the back mounting arrea on the monitor, the area joining the two sections of stand at the center. (This would basically apply to the electrical/signal interface. The sections could retain the tapered small section of base)

A Mounting plate which would attach to the larger base on the bottom section on the stand would be designed as a way of attaching the monitor to the wall. That should leave all of the main functions of the CPU accessable in the main bottom stand section.

A cover plate would be devised to cover the wall attachment holes, etc, while acting as a table stand.

If you like my idea, and Apple goes for it, just get me a deal with Apple that I can have a lifetime free supply of any Apple products I need or desire.

LOL

(Stay tuned for the rest of the story)

:)

No offense taken at all. However just to be a bastard, if it's so unimportant then maybe you shouldn't have replied to it either... :p ;)

Regardless, it's all good...

Digital Skunks Imac-pro sounds nice...

Maybe on the back if there is a door you can flip up and install the card then connect it with internal dvi cables one of which gets routed to the minidvi in the back side and have inconspicuous vents in the door that you install the card in. Like the current imacs vents...

Or make a Macpro mini which would be a mid tower with one xeon chip, 1-2 pcix slots, a single memory board (4 slots) 2hdd cages 4 if they can fit it 1 or 2 drives etc.

HAHAHA. Ok ok. Ceasefire!

Haha, deal - thanks for having a good sense of humor. ;)

Anyway, back to the iMac. As I said previously, I'm very curious to see what the redesign will look like. The design has been getting more and more simple with each iteration, yet the way the iMac is now, with everything behind the display, I don't know how simpler and more minimal it can really get, other than just getting rid of the chin, making it smaller, sleeker, etc. - which in itself is easier said than done... Regardless, I'm sure Apple will wow us as they usually have a tendency to do. The only other question is will all be revealed on Monday, shortly after WWDC, or not until October to coincide with the release of Leopard?

And further to this, October has been identified as the release timeframe for Leopard - has a date actually been set and how does this align with MacWorld Paris? It would be around the same time, would it not? Hmm....

Perhaps a front power button and USB-ports would be nice this time 'round, or at least at the side so I won't have to turn the machine around every time I plug something in. More USB-ports would also be welcome.

I had a dream...

First, I have no connections with Apple or anyone else that might leak this to me. I just woke up thinking about this. Obviously this has been churning in my head and more than I thought.

My guess, and I think you are reading this hear first. There isn't just going to be a 20" and 24" iMac. My guess is that there is going to be a THIRTY inch iMac which will be priced around $2799.

I further believe the following:
Brushed aluminum enclose with a much smaller bottom area, meaning the screen (an all iMacs for all 20, 24, and 30 models) will take up much more of the front area.
Connect a cinema display to an iMac will look normal now instead of two brands of monitors side by side.
Keyboard will be matching brushed aluminum
Core2Duo at 2.4mghz
1GB RAM standard with 2gb and 4 gb options
500gb HDD standard with 750 and 1TB HDD options
New video card with 256 VRAM standard with 500 RVAM graphics card option

By October I expect iMacs to have the back light option light the new 15" MacBookPro
I expect that on some cinema displays will start being announced with the iPhone touch screens. Meaning that the 20, 24, and 30 Cinema displays will have the multi-touch screens
All Cinama displays will start coming with web cams built in.
One cool affect is that you will be able to have multiple monitors connected to your computer will all the cameras active at the same time and it will show you from multiple sides instead of just the one view. At least it will be that way by default for some things but "available" in other Apple programs. This might be used by 3rd party companies to build on the fly 3d views of your head.
I expect that MacBookPro and maybe MacBooks will also start getting the multi-touch displays

Leapard will start having dramatically more 3d effects including the login screen that won't just pop up on screen with the progress bar. Instead you will see the login screen appear small and come forward into view enlarging as it comes forward as it were a car driving from a distance and then parking facing you from a short distance away. This is part of the new animation in Core Image/Video.

A new taller Mac Mini will be introduced soon or at least by October that is sort of a mini-tower.
It will be taller to include a built in dedicated video card.
It might be known as a mini pro but limited to Core2Duo processors (2 cores total and no option for 4 or 8 cores.).

how about an imac expansion tower? a slim (like the slim ps2 size) matching "tower" that contains a 2nd hdd, pci slots, or whatever else that you need. i can't think of other options but this seems practical. it would match in colour and style and sit vertically next to your imac. hell, maybe even allow for 2 of them to be connected, one on each side. not sure what kind of cable would connect them, i'm not much of a computer hardware guy.

this would solve the bulky tower problem, and allow for a powerful computer that can have tons of future-proofed expansion.
