that's absurd. NO ONE should be allowed to pre-order six iPhones when I can't even get one without waiting in line for over an hour and constant hours online trying for it. That's total bs and you're not even allowed to pre-order more than 1 per household so the fact that you did that makes you a douchebag.

Hey, everyone here above me....what if only white was available???

Wouldn't you want to buy it once its released, then once black was available exchange it?

I had my heart set on white, but now gonna pre-order black then wait for white to be available. this flip phone I have right now is the worst.

I would either take the white or wait. Learn patience, it's the best thing for your poor little heart.

Wow... touchy touchy.

If it makes any of you feel better, I'm only actually keeping 3 of the 5 iphones, even if I do exchange, the rest are being sold on ebay.... and I'm actually going to be getting my girlfriends as well to sell as she's keeping her 3Gs ;)

/love

Does anyone see any problem with pre-ordering a black iPhone 4 now for delivery on the 24th, then within the return policy, go to apple store and return and get a white one? This assumes that the white will not be available anywhere at launch on the 24th but a few weeks later.

If white is available at launch but in extreme limited qty, I'd just be sure to be first in line to get it.

No.... I don't see ANYTHING wrong with you taking a black iPhone (that someone else really wants) just so you dont have to wait for the white one. AND THEN (best part) . . . when you take it to the store they can't just resell the black one to someone who wants one, it has to be shipped to a factory to be refurbished (financed by Apple). So, other than screwing up the iPhone experience for two other people, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your plan.

You know, if preordering is an option given, why are some of you reverse-entitled people calling us out for being upset that we can't pre-order? I'm not a fanatic, I just want to have the order in. I have a full right to do this and feel like it should work. Obviously they are having problems and I understand that. I don't think it's the end of the world, just a setback. But I don't understand why some people feel the need to make the rest of us, who are already stuck in a frustrating process, feel bad for being in the process. Furthermore, are you one of the people who already successfully ordered? If so, you're just feeling fine because it's taken care of. And if not, and have no intention of preordering or ordering the phone at all, then WHY ARE YOU EVEN COMMENTING ON THIS FORUM TO BEGIN WITH???

It is really that difficult to wait a couple weeks or a month? Are you guys honestly that much of a ****ing child inside that you have to have something now, now, now. Grow up.

I don't get why people think this is childish or that we need to "grow up". Who knows maybe I'll like the black one. I really have no issue in waiting but why should I when I can play with it on launch day and I'm willing to pay?

...Yes, everybody that is doing this are scumbags. What do you expect though? It's America where scumbags are allowed to be treated equally so they expand exponentially.

How is this making us scumbags? As long as we're following the return rules that apple has made, 14 day return policy and 10% restocking fee, then what's the problem?

yeah, I wouldn't mind waiting if I still had my 3G. I shipped it out last monday (day of the keynote), figuring I would only need to use this flip phone for 2 weeks.

It's only been 8 days and its a pain. I can't take it. So what I'm gonna do is get the black, and hope I can exchange it for white once its available.

Or, I am sure someone on CL will trade white for black, or whatever.

or they could have a family plan

I'm quite sure I understand family plans. However, in the past even they couldn't order that many at a time.

And with the price of the phones and the current state of the economy, I find it highly unlikely there are very many "families" ordering 6 iPhone 4s!

Get off your high horse!

30 day return with ATT ;)

While I think this is kind of stupid (and risky, considering it could be 6-8 weeks before white is ready -we just don't know), I can't believe others are really knocking these people for hogging all the pre-orders.

They will be taking pre-orders for at least a week. They are not going to run out if you get your order in tomorrow. Quit hitting refresh, have some perspective, and calm down.

Not according to Engadget:
"Apple gives up on pre-order insanity, suggests you head to an Apple Store".

Just curious, whats so great about the white one? Is it just different from the millions already sold so it stands out as almost like a collector's item?

I'm not going to trash the phone, I've had the same 3GS for a year and it still looks brand new. If it's Apple's policy to send returned items off to be refurbished then that's their own doing. I wouldn't be screwing anyone's iPhone experience up by doing this, Apple and AT&T are already doing their fair part in that. Besides, there will be plenty of iPhones to go around, everyone who wants one on the launch will get one. The only question is how long the line will be.

Correct, what you're doing is completely within your rights. Does that make it right though? There's lots of scumbags that follow the law. It's a matter of ethics.

Only 14 days if you want to exchange the phone for a different color or size.

Ah... either way guess I'll find out soon enough if I keep all black or get whites ;)

But I did buy a 3Gs and kept it for 22 days and then returned it to ATT and am now using that line to buy a iphone 4... so I'm not sure if it's 14 or 30 but to me that seems like 30, although I could be wrong.

You can return the phone completely and not get another one within 30 days, but you only have 14 days to return it and exchange it for another version of the same phone. Correct me anyone if I'm wrong.

Ah... guess we'll find out ;) They are all pre-ordered now.

6/24 will be like christmas all over again! Packages galore... even a few bumpers coming too.

It doesn't make it wrong in my eyes and that's ethically ok by me. Besides, this is just a 'what if' I'm not saying that I'm going to actually do this.

I am.

Guess I'm going to hell.

Oh well... I'll have good company.

It's okay to reserve something someone else wants just to exchange it later so you can have one now (and they won't)? Seriously messed up. I'm done arguing with you guys. It's selfish, it's wrong, and you know it.

I wouldn't let it worry you. These are the same type of people that have thousands of dollars in debt. It's a much better being debt-free than feeling ethical over the internet.
