Yes now I need to figure out how to refuse it since my Leasing office will sign for it.
Like I said, You can have it physically delivered and still refuse delivery. Just don't open the package. Call UPS after you get it and they will arrange for pickup.

Is this Crucial memory good for a 2.8Ghz iMac? They seem to have another model custom made for this iMac:

Thanks,

Sabesh.

I talked to Crucial earlier and they said it was the same thing... I was talking about the 2X2GB kit though. Still same stuff though

Hello, my name is Jennie . How may I help you?

ME: Hi, I have a 24" 2.4Ghz C2D iMac and I was looking at part # CT25664AC667 at buy.com. I was wondering if this is the same memory that is used in your 4GB kit (CT717419) for the iMac?

Jennie : Yes it is the only difference is that the part number CT717419 is a kit.

ME: So, I can just order 2 sticks from buy.com and my iMac will have 4GB of RAM?

Jennie : Yes that is correct.

ME: Fantastic! I will buy 2 sticks now. You have been a great help!

Purchased 2 x 2GB for my C2D white iMac. I realize my iMac can only use 3.3GB. No worries!

Thanks guys!

Am I right this is the RAM for the 20" 2.4 iMac? I am about to order one and was thinking of getting more memory.

I have a MBP 2.33ghz with 2gb RAM will I be able to only install in one slot? A maximum of 3gb RAM?

ummmm will this work with a macbook? cuz i was about to purchase the 3 gig from newegg and if i can get 4....yummy

A Pre-Santarosa notebook will do a maximum of 3.3GB.

3.3 Gb Only if it is a Core2Duo pre Santa Rosa
4.0 Gb only if it is a Core2Duo Santa Rosa
CoreDuos will do 2 Gb maximum ( 2 x 1 Gb SODIMMs)

veeco, you have to specify exactly which machine you have if you want accurate answers.

Re: NewEgg -- of course you will not get the shipping refunded if you refuse delivery. Did you think that the seller is going to happily pay out of pocket because you changed your mind after ordering? NewEgg also has a 15% restocking fee policy on non-defective returns - it's nice that your rep promised you 100% refund less shipping, but their policy allows them to give 85% refunds.

That is seemingly on opened items. I have had to exchange or return an item before and they waived the restocking fee. I guess everyones case is different.

I ordered 2 x 2Gb for my MBPro Pre-SR 2.33Ghz ($135 OTD - 3DAY)

Thank you for the Buyer's Guide link. So be it if I achieve 3.3Gb RAM, as of a month ago I was going to pay more for just a 2Gb stick.

Any suggestions (Geekbench etc.) that I should measure the before/after impact of this upgrade?

That is really not true. When shipments are refused, Newegg will not charge anyone a fee.. I think UPS refunds Newegg all shipment fees if a package is refused.

I have returned dozens of things to newegg, both opened and unopened.

NEVER, EVER have I been given a restocking fee of any sort. It may be in their terms, but they just don't do that to their customers.

Basically, if you refuse a shipment from newegg you WILL get 100% of your money back.

You may have paid for 3-day shipping... But buy.com will not be shipping orders for a few days...

They sold sooooo many of these things today. It is their #3 top selling item today on their site.

Makes me glad I ordered before I posted ;)

Both of mine are in 'sent to warehouse' status. Not that they won't sit there for a few days.

anyone having problems getting the $10off for google checkout?

btw, thanks OP for the deal, I was asking about it in the other thread and I think you found our best. Thanks!!! If I can use google checkout on both sticks it will be a hell of a deal.

Nope, no problems with google checkout....just make sure that you use a new email address for each order to get the $10 off.

Mine is sent to warehouse too.

I really don't care when it ships... I won't have a replacement iMac for 2 weeks

Sorry if I am posting a newbie question here - but while I realize you needn't install matched pairs in the iMacs (I'm getting the aluminum 20" 2.4), I have read inconsistent stories about whether 1x1 is better than 1x2. One story I read suggested that 3 is better only if the computer actually needs to access the third GB of RAM - if it needs to use less than that, then the mismatched configuration will slow things down. So I woud appreciate any advice from the experts here!
