What mac do you play those games on?

The one in my sig........ But I had the previous Unibody 15 inch with the 2.53 Core 2 Duo and I happily played Crysis and all my other games bar Starcraft 2 and Metro 2033 cause I didn't have them at that time.
It's not magic, just go to You Tube and watch videos of 13" Macs playing games, hell if you search you can find the old school C2D Intel Plastic Macbooks with the Intel graphics playing Microsofts Flight sim and Counter Strike.

If you want to play the latest top end big game at maximum high resolution with every setting as high as it can go in DirectX 11 then you ARE going to need to spend a fortune.
For everyone else, you don't.

If you feel like you have been hard done by then take it back and ask about the 15" model. Otherwise install Windows and play some games or install Steam and play HL2, Left4Dead 2 is rumoured to be released on the Mac on October 5th.

Or have a look at this thread to try COD 4 out:

Don't feel cheated, you knew exactly what you were walking into when you bought the computer.

Anyways, I love this computer. It is easily superior in build quality, OS, speed, battery, etc.

"maybe" you should just stop playing this Starcraft 2 game, and blame the video game for contributing to your dating stats. (kidding) And if you were serious about gaming on it, then you'd have a custom desktop machine (built by yourself) or some other contraption with insanely HUGE graphics card. It's a laptop, what do you expect? I'm confused. It's worth every penny.

I don't do much gaming on my computer... just light gaming... I do have a gaming desktop I built from 07. I just was hoping to do a a tiny amount on the mac. I think I will be able to anyway.

To be honest no, I do not feel that way. Why? Because I was already aware of these type of limitations. I see Macs as a work environment PC and not really able to do good gaming, unless it's one of the top models, which is still not that good, but good enough for current gen games.

I am happy with my purchase and use my desktop to game. :)

I don't know about you but my bootcamped 2.4 mbp13 runs SC2 fine.

The only time I have slowdowns is 30 minute nexus war games, last campaign mission when I MC like 50 air units, or anything else with just a mass of crap on the screen.

Oh and you have some cute ass cats.

They do a lot more fighting sadly off camera... its tough to get them on camera lol

Jesus! Macs are not designed to play games, Macs are not designed to play games - imagine saying that in a whining 2 year old voice!

I play Starcraft 2, HL 2, Left 4 Dead, Crysis, Metro 2033 ALL on my Mac!!!! Sure you have to lower resolutions and quality on some games but it runs them just fine no problems.
Sorry but it really gets on my ti*s when people state as a fact you cannot play games on a Mac when you clearly can.

There is difference between not being able to play and not designed to play. And you just proved my point that macs are not designed to play

so you are basing most of your decision because you play Starcraft?

Just stick to your PC...

BTW, I have both PC laptops and desktop and MBP :D

What mac do you play those games on?

Well, let me list mine:

OS X Side:

Left4Dead (Cider)
Left4Dead 2 (Cider)
WoW
HL 2
TFC
Portal
Call of Duty (2 I think)
Dragon Age Origins
Super Mario Sunshine (via Dolphin)
Zelda the Wind Waker (via Dolphin)
Sim City 4
Dungeons and Dragons MMO (via WINE)

Boot Camp:
UT 3
UT
SWAT 4
Mech Warrior 4
Cities XL
Many GC/Dolphin Games (They do work better under DX than OpenGL)

There are others but I do play games on my Mac...

Erm, it's a computer? You do know what a computer does? It does what ever you programme it to do including playing games.

I don't think you've made your point very well but I guess you are implying that an Alienware for example can play games because if you spend the money it can have lots of powerful top spec hardware, of course that also means it has crap battery life and weighs a lot.
But all it is designed to do then is play games with higher quality settings.
My mac is perfectly capable of playing games, it's designed the same as any other computer, to do what it's programmed to do. All I have proved to you is my Mac can play games, but as it lacks a Core Extreme CPU or dual GPU's it can't play then on a 27" monitor with every detail switched on.

It not that they cant play games, you simply cant get that kind of hardware into the laptop. How many pc laptops can play all the games? Not many, and those that can probably have a 2 hour battery life. If you want the battery life that apple does, you have to sacrifice in other areas and that includes graphics performance.

I definitely am not trying to play all the games, mainly just low spec blizzard ones. If I wanted to play every game that came out I would build a gaming PC. I don't need to though because I have consoles.

Buy what you need. Not more, not less.

For all the "ripped off" people who think Computer only consist of CPU; GPU; RAM; HD and, for some at least, a screen I feel very sorry. Poor minds...

:apple: To all thee doubt. You should pray a Steve or two because he is a punitiv god for those full of buyers remorse!

I don't get that. I get that you want to patronise some people but what's your point?

The Cost of a Computer can not be determined alone by 4 or 5 parts of it.

Actually, he is right. The MacBook Pro 13" is very capable in playing games via Boot Camp. OSX is not the best when it comes to playing games but if you install Windows 7 as a second operating system, you will be set.

To prove it I have a youtube channel setup to showcase the results of multiple games on the MBP 13". Check it out at youtube.com/KadMac25.

Oh, and to the OP - Don't bother playing Starcraft 2 via OSX. You will get much better results through Windows 7. Trust me.

Yeah I play all the games I want to play on my 13" MBP, no probs!

I'm not bothered about ultra settings, I have a PS3 and 360 to play more stuff.

As I say, and everyone says the same, I loooooooove my MBP. Like seriously....I might propose to it.
