Sorry but what part of this is inside information beyond the pricing which anyone could speculate on? The rest of the information is just stuff that was already leaked over the past few months. I call BS that this is a leak because pretty much none of this is new info or includes any info that we didn't know.

Thank you. I've been thinking this ever since the watch "edition". It makes my brain hurt that there is no qualifying word before it. Just, edition? Makes no sense to me.

Can someone please explain what the name “edition” means?

In my experience, the word “edition” always needs a qualifying word ahead of it - something that describes what kind of edition it is: “deluxe edition,” “sport edition,” “2017 edition,” etc.

Why would Apple call it “iPhone Edition”?

If all 3 models uses the A11 chip, we can expect the iphone 7s to have a higher benchmark

Alternatively, the 7S version may be underclocked - IE, a fabricated bottleneck to make the Edition seem much improved.

I'd make an educated guess at an overclocked a11, I think the X chips tend to be overclocked/ extra core versions of the CPU with meatier GPUs and no ram on the chip - sounds like a tall order to fit in a phone, whereas an overclocked standard chip can yield reasonable performance gains (see iPad mini series vs equivalent iPhone)

I'd have to agree with that, especially with the size of the Edition.

Spotted the Debbie Downer.

Be sure to come back and eat some crow after the keynote.

You're gonna have to explain that to me. I'm calling you out on the fact that 95% of your inside info isn't new and is just accepted info at this point.

Coming back after the keynote and claiming to have predicted all this will be about as impressive as predicting that Apple will hold the keynote at some point in September.

Man, you must need a vacation or something. It's happy hour somewhere - grab a beer and relax a bit. That much anger in your posts must point to some real stress in your life, and I sincerely hope it gets better for you.

It's irrelevant to me if you accept the info I've posted as new, confirmed, or rehashed idiocy from a babbling idiot. I got details from someone in the know, and posted them. Like it, don't, up to you. I never claimed it's all new, nor did I promise it's all 100% accurate. I'm just passing on info I received. Nothing more.

This year I'm going with the Note 8 (don't be a hater both are great devices). But will certainly be keeping an eye on the high end iPhone. If they end up making the wireless charging proprietary I'm going to lose my **** though.

Why go with a Note 8 when you can get a Galaxy 8 Plus with better battery life for $250 less? Are you really going to have that Pen out all the time? Come on, be honest. Your finger will not reach the ID location without loosely shuffling the devise in your hand.

Get the 8 Plus. ;)

I agree. I think the name is retarded.

I do believe the iPhone Edition name, but only if they got rid of it right away like they did with the Apple Watch Edition, because next year, it can't be iPhone and iPhone Edition only. That would imply a cheap successor to the 7s, and I doubt they want to have the same design for 5 years in a row.

More likely is iPhone and iPhone Plus, with the iPhone Plus being that rumored 6.4"-6.5" device that would be to the iPhone 7s Plus what the iPhone Edition would be to the iPhone 7.

And it's a smart strategy, too. Make people think the 5.8" iPhone is the new "larger" model and then introduce a larger one the next year so they can upgrade again.

That's a great point, and sounds very "Apple".

Sadly I believe the iPad mini is finished. Every Best Buy near me is sold out today and no new stock coming for 2 weeks. (sep 7) I wish they’d update just one more time. I can’t see buying one now even on sale, even though I love the size.

The leaked colors on the Edition are correct - Silver, Black, and "blush". From what I understood, we'll be seeing similar bezel colors as we have in the past - IE, white on silver, black on black.

From my understanding, the 7S/7S Plus colors will remain similar to current ones, but "with less SKUs". This may mean some color cuts, which I assume would be Product(RED) and Jet Black (to push sales to the Edition).
I don't care what your 'source' says, there will be no white front on the premium iPhone. That's just obvious

I think it makes no sense they choosen white bezels on the some colors of the OLED iPhone... We've seen that on the Apple Watch, they used black bezels (on every finish) to make the screen blend into the design.
Anyone with a clue knows that the OLED iPhone will only come in a black front, as you pointed out, exactly like the Watch.

I’m going to start really considering other brands for my phone, if Apple is planning to do the same rubbish to the iPhone that they did to the iPad. I don’t want a choice between a lower quality device (like the iPad) or a crazy expensive one (iPad Pro). For goodness sake, just make one freakin phone again. They’ve gotten so convoluted in the number of products now. I looked at the iPads recently and was very underwhelmed by the screen quality of the entry iPad, compared to what the iPad used to have on it. I should not have to buy the Pro model to have a nice screen.

Just my opinion.

iPhone Edition (or pro, or 8) would be poor marketing on Apple's part. They have the distinct opportunity to draw attention to this radically redesigned device. None of those marketing terms do that. You don't want to market this as a premium device either, you want to market simply as the next iPhone. The iPhone that will be all there is in 1-2 years. You want to market it as what it is, not point out that it is superior, just point out that it is different and why people should look at this new iPhone. Why they should be interested in iPhone again after multiple iterative years.

So you have:
iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus which are both iterative advancements at their normal prices, and then you have this new iPhone (insert new marketing term) that is different, and much more expensive due to the technologies for a launch in 2017. It would be an enormous mistake to market superiority of a device like iPhone compared to other new iPhones. This is just one reason why Pro and Edition are terrible, as would be '8' next to 7s.

Samparmenter is on point. My source says that epic selfing will occur in this thread after the keynote.

Inside source says basically what all the leaks have been saying for weeks as well as some vague comments that were pretty much common knowledge but still vague enough so that if incorrect it still kind of works.

And I bet your dad works for Nintendo too.

Is the aluminum on the white iPhone going to be brushed? Will the aluminum ring around the camera be brushed?

Definitely not liking the polished look.

I have to say, he's not wrong though. This "inside information" is pretty much just a summary of what has "leaked" over the past several weeks.

Again, not saying it's wrong, but it's not actually anything new.
My thoughts exactly.
