You have to laugh that they would dare release the same designed iPhone 4 years in a row. lol. Then make a phone the 7s SHOULD be and call it EDITION.

So most people are getting the bezel filled same design spec bumped grinder while everyone else in the world is almost bezel free with OLED screens.

Should we also be laughing at iPads, MacBooks and iMacs for keeping a very similar design for 4+ years?

I don't see me getting any AirPods if there isn't some mild noise cancelling.

Not going to happen. People use AirPods on the street. Noise cancelling is the last thing we need to give pedestrians in busy cities.

And that’s not to mention the additional battery drain and perceived oddities associated with noise cancelling in one ear when using one AirPod.

Anyone know why the OP's suspended? Or did MacRumors suspend him because he was undermining Macrumors' own sources? :p

On a more serious note, i'm very sceptical about him having an 'inside source' and would be inclined to believe that these are just the OP's own predictions (though quite plausible).

Grown adults should know road safety, personally I take one of my AirPods out just as I walk up to the road and then put it back in when I've crossed the road itself, in fact it's a great little feature, Apple made music pause when taking one AirPod out and then resume playing when put back in.

No one is going to know except for the Mods themselves. I agree I too are very sceptical but since I can't prove it I was giving the benefit of the doubt since we will know soon enough anyway (matter of weeks now :D)

Adults aren't the only ones using AirPods

If the competition suddenly starts making better versions of those for far less money then yes, we should. The iPhone screen and form factor is out of date and lacks features that are standard on much cheaper phones so we should at least expect apple to keep step with companies whose R&D budget is laughably small compared to apples.

The same still applies, if people are giving AirPods to their children then they should supervise their own kids!!
That's a ridiculous retort. Of course that isn't practical at all. And as an adult you should know that.

Supervising your own children is ridiculous and not practical? o_O Sorry but that in itself is ridiculous, it's a parents responsibility to supervise their own children. AirPods are a great product but if you can't trust your own children with them then don't give them AirPods. As an adult I know that.

Haha oh yes and it's everyone's responsibility as a society to keep ignorance from killing/hurting people. That's why we have laws governing drug use, alcohol use, eye exams, etc etc. It is not practical to be able to control everything your children do, and therefore there must be laws to prohibit their ignorance and immaturity, such as not being allowed into a bar. Same goes for responsible companies and of course laws regulate them as well. And the UK for example has laws that limit volume of headphones which is another prime example of a society keeping children (and adults) from harming themselves.

Anyway, good talk

I want to hear outside noises. No way I want to be totally isolated. AirPods are meant to be used while walking around. I need to hear what's happening around me. One reason I often use just one in my ear.

Ipad design updated. Macbook design updated. iMacs are due for one, this is correct. So yes, we should be laughing at the current iMac design and iPhone design (7s). It's lazy.

And that's the issue I have, it suddenly becomes everyone's responsibility! While I agree that certain laws are in place (alcohol laws for example) I also think it's the parents responsibility, for example if a child is being naughty it is the parents responsibility to correct the child, it is not a strangers responsibility. The problem is that some powers have even been taken away from parents, for example it's frowned upon to smack a child as punishment (yet years ago it was the norm). But bringing it back to the AirPods it isn't Apple's responsibility to look after people's children it is the parents.

I feel like that was being sarcasm with the anyway good talk, but I do find it interesting to hear/read in this case other people's opinions! To that extent it has been a nice talk (at least on my part :D).

I don't see why couldn't someone be able to hear outside noises when he wants with noise cancelling earphones.

You want to hear outside noises in the street? You tap, it's off.
You want to block outside noises on the train/plane? You tap, it's on.

I want to listen to music and also hear someone calling, outside noises, desk phone ringing, etc.

Totally different markets. People consume and purchase tablets and computers much differently than cell phones.

My point is people seem to have this irrational desire to see change for the sake of change. I'm not saying there shouldn't be improvements and refinements, but there's only so much you can do with these devices at this point.

Even the new 2017 iPhones - an all OLED front is obviously a huge difference/improvement. The rear casing is glass, but overall the shape / feel is essentially the same.

And iPad design has been updated? We've been on this chamfered edge design since the iPad mini in 2012. Not that there's anything wrong with it, it's likely one of the nicer designs anyway. We'll probably see a redesign with a larger screen to bezel ratio, maybe OLED in the future, but I don't think it's realistic to expect these things to change so rapidly.

I want to listen to music and also hear someone calling, outside noises, desk phone ringing, etc.

What I mean is, it's a function you can easily enable and disable at your convenience. It's not not going to be forced on you, it's going to be there so you could use it only whenever you want.

RELEASES:

iPhones
  • 7S, 32GB/128GB/256GB, Starting at $649
  • 7S Plus, 32GB/128GB/256GB, Starting at $769
  • Edition, 64GB/256GB/512GB, Starting at $999
  • No SE update at this time. iPhone 6 and SE remaining as current prepaid options.
Processor, and slight camera improvements to 7S/Plus. 3GB RAM on both 7S and Plus models. Faster processor on Edition model. Wireless charging across all models. Same screens from 7 range on 7S/Plus. Improved screen on Edition. Edition to feature facial recognition for unlocking, as well as a sort of "always on" type display feature.

We knew there was a 7S, 7S+ and new iPhone coming. We know Apple's pricing structure for the 7S and 7S Plus, and prior rumors have buzzed the $999 price point for the new iPhone. Wireless charging on some models with glass chassis was also confirmed prior. We knew about facial recognition and naturally this more premium device would have a superior screen. 3GB of RAM was shown on the leaked boards recently.

Tablets
  • No new releases
  • Quiet removal of Mini 4 post Keynote update
  • Sales numbers touted heavily
Not much to see here, due to the recent refreshes. Mostly touting numbers and the recovery of the platform without saying things like "recovery" or "We almost really screwed up here". Mini removal is likely at this time.

Rumors pointed towards the mini being killed off, in light of it only receiving a storage bump a year ago. But a lot of iPad models rarely receive "large" upgrades each year now, but rather every 18-24 months. I think we'd be surprised if the mini was actually killed off, since it's due for an upgrade, but maybe it's getting axed instead. Seeing as the other iPads were updated in the last year, no one was expecting revised iPad hardware at this event. It'll probably suffer the same fate as the mini.

Watches
  • S3. Minor spec bump, new LTE model, starting at $369 on Non-LTE.
  • S2 price drop, remaining for sale, starting at $269
  • S3 Metallic finishes to match iPhone Edition.
  • New S3 Edition model with lower price than Ceramic S2
Overall minor refresh. No immediately apparent external changes, though the measurements will change slightly on the S3 models, similar to S0 to S2. LTE models to be promoted heavily via carriers, but will still require an iPhone to take full advantage of features. $5/mo line access for most carriers on LTE model, but possible incentives when linked with an iPhone through the carrier (on a payment plan) as well. Worth noting, this section of the event may be delayed until the Spring event based on external factors, but the updated watches are currently prepared to launch. S1 watches may receive a further price drop, but more likely will be discontinued.

Naturally Apple would retain the prior generation alongside the new generation, which we knew was going to have LTE per hardware and other rumors. Pricing seems in-line with Apple's AW structure, so nothing surprising here.

Macs
  • iMac Pro highlighted, firm release date given w/ preorder date as well
  • No Mac Mini at this event
  • No Mac Pro at this event
Not much to see here either. Small mention, sales touted, etc.

Apple previously communicated no Mac Pro updates until 2018 at the earliest, which is why we are getting the iMac Pro (previously announced for later this year pre-order date), so this was known. Obviously they'll have to announce the pre-order date since late 2017 is around the corner. But this also isn't a Mac event, so no surprise we aren't seeing an updated Mini.

Apple TV
  • New 4K model, Starting at $199
  • Non 4K model will *potentially remain* at lowered price
Not a whole lot here, but a big release for some that have been waiting for 4K support. Info wasn't clear on the current generation Apple TV, but it seems it will potentially remain with a slight price cut. 4K model will receive a faster processor as well, but not much beyond that and 4K. Design to be the same.

We knew the 4K ATV was coming, and similar to the iPhone, iPad and AW, it makes sense the old model would still be sold, similar to how Apple handled the ATV3 when the ATV4 was released. Pricing structure also is consistent with what we know.

HomePod
  • Highlighted again, but more briefly
  • Release date announced, along with preorder date
Mostly just a "wrap up" from the WWDC announcement. Expect this section to be brief.

See iMac Pro comment above.

Software
  • iOS 11 release
  • watchOS 4 release
  • macOS High Sierra release
  • Integration features highlighted, some brief demos
The usual here. Nothing surprising, and the brief demos may be cut for time, based on other announcements.

This is pretty obvious based on the past few years.

Accessories
  • New cases and case colors for 7S, 7S Plus, Edition
  • Wireless charging accessory/dock, starting at $99
  • New watch band colors
This is pretty obvious based on the past few years.

Overall, definitely seems like the above makes sense, but seeing as it's not really new information, not sure how much being "insider info" really matters at this point.

I don't see me getting any AirPods if there isn't some mild noise cancelling.
Maybe check out BeatsX. They basically have 99% of the features of AirPods since they both use the W1 Apple chip. I got them on sale from Best Buy for $99 and they definitely sound better as well. Plus they are really good at noise cancelling.

Grown adults should know road safety, personally I take one of my AirPods out just as I walk up to the road and then put it back in when I've crossed the road itself, in fact it's a great little feature, Apple made music pause when taking one AirPod out and then resume playing when put back in.

But as you likely know, this is nothing to do with grown adults knowing how to do X or Y. Otherwise we wouldn't have so many checks and balances in place in all facets of life.
