why was OP suspended??????
I don't think it had anything to do with this thread. I was reading another thread (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-7s-7s-plus-selling-points.2063511/) over the weekend and there were some arguments happening there. Now I see a mod note saying, 'A large number of posts were removed as they were derailing the thread'. I am not quite sure whether it was OP who was involved in that. But I think I read his posts, some of which I don't see any longer. So, l'm thinking the suspension was related to that thread.

I wouldn't like to speculate on that because I was also involved in that argument and I haven't been suspended so it might have nothing to do with that at all. But in relation to this predictions thread I think a lot of this stuff has been known for a while, however there were a couple of things in relation to the Apple Watch series 3 that were not mentioned before so who knows really except for the person who is claiming all of this.

Apple had him shut down.

Hahaha that made me laugh out loud for real :D:D but we will have to wait and see what happens with the news from the event i think it's going to be 12th, we can then see what was correct and what wasn't then judge this thread from there.

Can someone please explain what the name “edition” means?

In my experience, the word “edition” always needs a qualifying word ahead of it - something that describes what kind of edition it is: “deluxe edition,” “sport edition,” “2017 edition,” etc.

Why would Apple call it “iPhone Edition”?

I've been wondering this, myself. I always thought the name "Edition" without a qualifier was rather strange nomenclature - even coming from Apple. "Anniversary Edition" would make more sense to me.

So, no more surprise...

May be, a silent update for the iPod Touch, it needs a better battery.

Apple ultimate goal is to make an iPhone as light & slim as the Touch... if ever possible.

Exactly!

As I've said myself...

So here's what bugs me about the name "iPhone Edition", "edition" means a particular version of something. A "first edition", a "final edition", a "special edition", an "anniversary edition", etc. these things make sense. But just to call something the "edition" just doesn't really mean anything. Am I the only one who feels this way?

"Anniversary Edition", shortened and commonly called AE, makes more sense to me.

Why is everyone ignoring the fact that "iPhone Edition" makes no sense?

Is there speculation that there will be 2 sized "Edition" phones or is Apple going to shoot itself in the foot and NOT come out with a 5.5" phone?

Or will they only have a larger phone. Either way without both - its bad.

I missed the 5, 5S 5C period. Not have larger phones before the 6, is why I left Apple. I need screen space.

It doesn't make sense. Just like "Pro" is a nonsensical moniker as well attached to the OLED model. It will all make sense very soon, so the Pro and Edition terminology can be put to rest. Some have an understanding of how certain terminology makes sense and others are convinced an iPhone is a "Pro" device, when it's not.

It’s marketing. The grammar doesn’t have to add up logically.

I haven’t seen any leaks indicating two sides of the iPhone 8 Pro Edition (;)).

Just the one

There's not enough OLED displays to do two versions. It will likely be 5.8 inch screen with a usable screen of 5-1 to 5.2 inches but think there's hope that the full 5.8 inch screen can be used for videos etc

The leaked colors on the Edition are correct - Silver, Black, and "blush". From what I understood, we'll be seeing similar bezel colors as we have in the past - IE, white on silver, black on black.

From my understanding, the 7S/7S Plus colors will remain similar to current ones, but "with less SKUs". This may mean some color cuts, which I assume would be Product(RED) and Jet Black (to push sales to the Edition).

Any speculation what the material for the edition body will be?

wow. Do you remember when EVERYBODY was saying there was NO WAY Apple wasn't going to make a larger screen? (around the 4 and 5 series). And all of the people that were going to HATE it if they did come out with one?

My how far we have come.

And apparently the 7 Plus is the most popular and sold more than Apple expected according to Tim Cook

The thing is i try to tune out some of what people complain about on this forum, there tends to be a trend with it, people complain about the upcoming iPhone, iPad, Mac or whatever, some even expressing anger at what they have heard, then Apple stand on stage and announce said device, those that have complained are then in the same pre-order thread saying how they have stayed up to pre-order the same device they have complained about

To be fair, a big reason for people getting the plus was the improved camera/dual cameras.

On that note though, how many people who bought the plus model for that reason actually use its extra camera functionality to any useful degree. Thats probably why the 8 will sell so well. The screen will be amazing and the facial recognition should be top notch but beyond that it won't be massively different to the 7S+. I'm sure that once their slick presentation is over I will be hovering over the buy button on a device I really don't need.

I agree 100% with your last statement, none of us NEED the latest iPhone they are more of a want and a treat than anything else. The Dual lens camera was the main reason why i upgraded from my 6 Plus to the 7 Plus last year, i do use it and it takes brilliant photos, i have been constantly impressed with the Bokeh effect images. I think the main reason people will upgrade this year is because they have held off for a couple of years but also for the OLED screen along with the features that you mentioned.

Oh yeah, need is the wrong word but the 7S will perform just as well for just as long as the 8 will so I'm more talking about the 7S vs 8. I'm still using a 6+ which never lets me down and is still super quick (lots of peoples 6's don't seem to be however so I don't want to say everyone is happy still). I really like the haptic home button on the 7 and 3d touch on my missus' 6S is really useful in my view but both of those I could get from just buying a 7+ or 7. After 3 years though I really want a new design and the 8 looks like it is going to be a beautiful phone. I just don't know what I will do if the price come in an area I strongly disagree with. Anything over £900 I would really struggle to justify.

This is a nice rumor roundup summary, stop trying to pass it off as insider information... I didn't see one thing in there that I hadn't already read on the internet in the last couple of weeks..... That being said thank you for rounding up all the rumors and putting them in a nice format.

Interesting, if it is literally just a minor bump to processor/ camera for the 7s series (which I guess would explain the lack of part leaks if there's nothing to see) I might just save some cash and go for a 7+ (assuming it remains on sale replacing the 6s) I'll probably be upgrading again in 18 months anyway, so long before I expect the processor to bottleneck/ miss the extra year of iOS updates.

I agree. A processor bump and wireless charging mean little to me.

I remember how many people were angry (and hated the 5.5" plus before it came out) just because it was going to be considered the premium with better camera/options and they hated the fact that their smaller phone would not be "premium" only because they used and wanted the smaller/reg phone........ Then went out and ended up buying the plus.

1st......Refused to believe it
2nd.....Badmouthed it
3rd......Bought it - just to have "premium" - got used to it.
Same ones badmouthing the Note 8.... Before it even comes out. Any one of the options on the note 8 comes on the "Edition" and they'll brag how great it is.

A lone $199 ATV5 4K makes zero sense to me in light of competitors and that the ATV is the razor to iTunes blades. That is a totally off putting price at a time when Apple is trying to push Apple Music and it's other media services.

Silent removal of mini 4 makes no sense to me at this time given it upped the storage just a few months ago. That would have been the time to silently removed the mini from the sales sheet or just not update it and remove it whenever.

Edition is IMHO a stupid name if that is the actual name. It's worse than the absurd "pro" name that every product -- not just Apple -- seems to attribute to consumer products these days to make consumer feel empowered. I rolled my eyes when the AW Edition was announced but I think I'll gag if the iPhone also gets the name. Might as well just call it the iPhone Iteration or iPhone Version. It's the kind of moniker you'd expect SNL or Conan to give the phone to mock it for being pretentious.

Too bad Orson Welles is dead. He'd be a great spokesman for and Edition phone along with his exquisite Paul Masson "champaign" and wine. For those too young to remember these cringe-worthy ads see below and when he said Paul Masson think iPhone Edition.

You have to laugh that they would dare release the same designed iPhone 4 years in a row. lol. Then make a phone the 7s SHOULD be and call it EDITION.

So most people are getting the bezel filled same design spec bumped grinder while everyone else in the world is almost bezel free with OLED screens.

Given how Apple has handled names in the past, I can easily see the new model being “edition” this year, and transitioning next year to an upgraded “edition” alongside a similar-spec plus size version (dropping the current 7/7+ form factor); iPhone and iPhone Plus
