Unless they're homeless I wouldn't call waiting in line for 19 days to get $1,250 "profiting."
Gotta love how pretty much everyone assumes they're poor losers. Why? Aren't there other options? I can think of a few right off the top of my head.
- Getting paid to do it, as evidenced by the two guy's shirts. (Thanks forum posters for that possibility.)
- Wealthy family (they're never going to have to work for a living anyway, and their families are OK sponsoring that behaviour. If they're OK with it, who are you to object?)
- Self employed and done with the month's work
- Not self employed but they've taken a holiday for the occasion. (Yeah, some jobs are flexible like that.)
- Have a part time job which allows you to schedule your work times such that you can eke out one or two weeks of time in which you're not working (by working twice the time in the two weeks you *are* working) - I used to do that back when I worked part-time.
- Students who aren't working part-time at the moment.
- They work the night shift and get a friend to stand in their place in line while they work
Need I go on? The part that shocks me about society isn't the fact that people would find the time to do this, but rather the idiots making knee-jerk assumptions about their employment and social status.
Why would anyone ever do this instead of preordering the device?
Why's he gotta be white?!?!?
Jeez... camping 5 days for a phone.
Everyone would be better off if Apple were to increase the price of the iPhone for the first 2-3 weeks. The phones would go to the people who value them the most, instead of by luck or first-come first-serve. And the profit that resellers make would instead go to Apple, the ones who deserve it. But of course "gouging" doesn't sit well with people.
i was about to say, "don't these folks have jobs???"
then after reading the article, i see they do...and they are on the job now.
That is totally awesome. You go guys. Some of us are proud of you!!!Hello all! My name is Jason, and I'm actually one of the guys waiting in line with my beautiful wife. I can assure you that we're not crazy, and I actually do have a job. In fact, my boss is paying myself and my wife to do this on top of my regular pay.
So you can know a little more about myself, I'm 29 years old, I have been married for 7 years, I have a 5 bedroom house in MS, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. I enjoy playing the guitar, reading, playing frisbee golf, and spending time with my friends and family. Seems pretty normal to me.
The main reason we are out here is to take advantage of the media attention that these launches attract. My wife and I are sleeping on the streets to promote better healthcare access for Americans through a telemedicine service called Video Medicine. This is not an easy endeavor, and takes a lot of courage to be away from everyday comforts. If you would read more of the articles, you would see that we're out here for a good cause, that it's something we believe in, and not something we are just getting paid to do, which is substantial.
Notice I have not said one negative thing in light of all the nasty words being said about myself and my wife. Use your words to build up, not to tear down.
How does the pre order work? I've always stood in line (12 plus hours) to get one in launch day. Do they go on pre sale that day right after the announcement on the 9th or do they wait a few days? Is it also at midnight or at a certain time? Thanks and sorry for the noob questions!
And you are not able to visit this forum without attacking other posters.
Pre-orders will start on Sept 12 and you will be able to buy them starting Sept 19. Note that pre-orders will arrive to the people on the 19th as well. I will promise you that you better pre-order fast cause the initial shipment of them to arrive the 19th will Sell out----then you will be waiting for 1-2-3 weeks for one, it happens every year
