sit in line for 2 weeks for some white guy to give you 200 bucks to cut in line lol

Even if I were in 100th place in line, no guy can go to the first in line and pay *him* $200 to cut in line. He'd have to pay $200 to all 100 of us because he'd still be cutting in front of everybody else.

How do people sit there for weeks and earn a living to purchase the phone to begin with? This is stupid. Everyone that wants a phone will be able to get one sooner or later. It is not worth sitting there that long. Some people have nothing else better to do. This is the definition of a Fanboy.

you and group of friends could score $10,000 from all of the start-up companies willing to buy your places in line to promote their app or whatever they are selling. everyone is making fun of people but they are actually rather smart

I’m baffled. Did you all not read far enough to notice that they’re promoting a business/app they’re affiliated with? Which means they’re getting paid to do this?

Another comment that’s all over that confuses me is that the people paying for the front two spots would have to pay everyone in line behind the people who lost those top spots. Which would make sense if there were more than 4 people in line. But unless I missed something (and point it out if I did, please) there were only two people in line, both of whom were paid for their spots. So… yeah.

He wouldn't be cutting he would just be swapping spots.

wow, dedication - I mean I have done the camping out thing - I didn't pre order as I was living on a canal boat at the time so had no address, I turned up early evening on the thursday of the 4s launch and then queued - I did manage a sneaky queue jump - only passed a block of pushy louts who were only queueing to resell - ha ha to them as there was good supply - as I had been chatting to the dedicated sitters Rob and some others they sort of let me in :) It was fun but only 1 night - and after the announcement people, otherwise it will become and now just weeks after 2025's iPhone, people are queuing up for next years model!

Hope

I don't own an iPhone. Shoot, I don't even own a phone, period. If I wanted one, it would be an iPhone. But, I digress. The only thing I really care about in this event is that they announce a new Mac Mini. I'm hoping for the new Mac Pro design, but smaller. Wishful thinking, I know.

The "iWatch" sounds cool, but not if it is only useful if you also have an iPhone, as some rumors have suggested.

We'll see on the 9th.

This is pathetic. They are probably the same people in line waiting to collect their food stamps. But yet have $700 to spend on a iPhone.

Okay, again with the these-people-are-being-paid-to-be-there. So no, they probably aren't on food stamps. Though the one guy did say the company they're representing was paying for their food, so if you count that I guess... Also, he said the company was buying their phones as well... So they don't have $700 to spend on it. Did you read the article, or just the title? Or better yet, watch the embedded video. So much information to consume!

It hasn't even been announced yet!! We don't even know when it's going on sale!! Apple could announce no sales until November or something, then these people will look like idiots! Well they already do, but you get the point.

Please tell me they do this in other countries besides the United States. It would be really, really, really sad if we were the only country with people this stupid.

Stop "enabling" this kind of behavior by putting a spotlight on them. They're attention-seekers. Don't give it to them.

Anyone remember *LTD*? He might be in line a week or so early. :D:D I can think of someone else here who might be too. :D:D

If they were homeless and hanging around that store, they'd probably be subject to all sorts of crap. But, hey, since they're going to buy something...

I think the line-sitting is a little ridic and verging on public nuisance.

Someday, people will scratch their heads and wonder: "they did that all for a phone? A phone only incrementally better than the 4 or 5 other phones they bought in the previous 4 or 5 years after waiting days or even weeks? Outdoors?!?
