Your remark is so naive that I'm having a seizure right now! God, I won't be able to work for a year! Having said that, I made the decision to visit Macrumors and post something that expected people to react this way. I can only blame myself. Others should start doing the same.

I travel regularly in the world and I see all sorts of disabled people in various positions. You have to be almost dead not to be able to find a job if you really want to. The rest is about fine-tuning the social system and not penalising work over economic inactivity.

Without a purpose in life, you are lost. If for this man the reason to live is to be first in line, I feel sorry for him. And I don't care if he's got any condition or not. Sometimes, there are no excuses for poor choices.

Does anyone on the boards disagree, that unless you're this guys personal neurologist, knowing his case completely, that you're not qualified to make any assertions about his condition?

I feel sorry for you, thinking your purpose in life is to come on an internet message board to judge others. You certainly are in no position to do so. I'm certain that if we knew the intimate details of your life, there would be plenty to critique you on.

Brilliant!

I know it seems sad, but i genuinely think thats awesome!

Well done to this guy for showing his passion! Enjoy you're new iPhone if you manage to survive a week!

Camping out for a week, on a sidewalk, in Dallas, in the summer = incredibly lame loser, regardless of personal issues or not.

Reading 289 posts* in a forum bitching about or supporting said loser = pretty lame itself.

* = I read the first page and skipped to the end to post. Probably a bit lame as well, but not nearly as lame as the above. :D

I'm sure if we knew you personally, we'd have plenty to ridicule you about as well, but please, feel free to make assertions about others from the security of your parents basement

I'm shocked by the number of insensitive remarks on this forum. In my opinion many of you need to grow up and stop judging people.

I love how the front page says:

As proof of his idenity, Wagoner posted a photo of himself taking in the Apple Store:

I mean, did anyone doubt who he was in the first place or that he was waiting in line?

Hope he has fun, that Texas heat is going to be hot.

Absolutely agree. If he is disabled he is getting money from the government. We are paying for him to camp out and get an iphone. I am not saying he shouldnt have a cell phone but there are other low cost alternatives. Not a $200 or $300 phone. I don't want to be insensitive but I see it all the time:

People who live off the government and have 55" TVs, drive BMWs then collect their check from Uncle Sam.

How ignorant you are: I am disabled and I get nothing from the government except a tax bill which I pay.

I saw this guy on the news in Dallas. He's obviously disabled as you can tell by his speach pattern but he seems like a very nice guy just trying to have some fun. During the day, if I'm not mistaken the Apple store lets him come inside and sit in his chair in the window of the store. He moves around quite a bit so he's not always in the heat. Go for it man!!

Arn, can you look into this thread for violations of Rule #1 in the Macrumors rules? I'm reposting so people can READ:

Insults. Direct personal insult of another member, i.e., "You are an idiot." and all the variations. Why? Because this isn't grade school. People should be able to discuss or even dispute other's posts without insulting people. And the only purpose of a post like this is to incite other people. You may dispute somebody's opinion, but not attack/flame the person who stated it. There are a lot of other non-direct-personal insults that won't necessary get you banned instantly, but depending on the context/nature may lead to post editing, post deletion, warnings, or time-outs. They include telling people to shut up, or being extremely or repeatedly rude or sarcastic. Bottom line -- don't try to tick off others. Although we do not read Private Messages sent between forum members, the rules for appropriate and inappropriate content apply to them as well.

PS everyone: That's under "bannable offenses". Maybe you should tone down your hate rhetoric.

"I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder"

I dont mean to sound insensitive, but wow. Too disabled to work, but not so disabled that you can't setup a tent and camp out for a week in the Texas heat in June?

without a job, how does he afford an iPhone?

Some people here clearly weren't.

There is a difference between mocking camping and mocking the fact that he is disabled and doing this, saying he should be out getting a new job, etc. There is a major difference.

And again, different things make different people happy. Should I go to a fishing forum and tell all the fishermen that I think their pastime is stupid?

I didn't mock his disability. But using it as an excuse to do something as stupid as this is mock-worthy too. And by all means, go mock fisherman on their forum. Im sure they're probably all too busy fishing to read it. But then again, if you're comparing a past time like fishing with the "past time" of sitting on concrete waiting to give your money to a soulless corporation, then you are also mock-worthy. Mock mock mock.

How ignorant you are: I am disabled and I get nothing from the government except a tax bill which I pay.

Thank you! People just assume that if you are disabled that you get assistance. This is simply not true. As you've pointed out, some pay taxes. Thanks for clearing that up for everyone here.

I feel very sorry for some of you who choose to be judge others, and I do hope you never get put into a disability position. Like someone else said, when you can walk a mile in his shoes, you can judge, until then, maybe worry about yourself more, instead of bashing others for something you don't agree with.

The dude is an attention whore. And he's getting what he wanted. Attention. Are you telling me he couldnt have queued up a full day prior and still been #1 in the line, or worst case 10th? But bleed on, bleeding heart, bleed on.

So many hypocritical posters in this thread...

Don't you understand that you can't criticize someone for assuming something when you're doing the exact same thing? Saying "OMG DISABILITY FRAUD" is bad without knowing the facts, but saying "IT'S NOT DISABILITY FRAUD HE IS LEGITIMATELY DISABLED EVEN THOUGH I DON'T KNOW HIS PERSONAL SITUATION EITHER" is even worse.

Some assume the worst, some assume the best. Neither side knows what is necessarily "right."

That's the problem here: "Marginally disabled" isn't even a usable term, plus who are you to determine that he's marginally disabled? You haven't seen his psych evals, cognitive function tests, sensorimotor exams, etc. I think a lot of you need to go back under your bridges, because you're showing what trolls you actually are.

As for "you have to be almost dead not to find a job" comment above... I know lots of people that can't find wages that are worth working (above minimum wage/poverty). Maybe that should be a crusade you talk about instead of criticizing a guy whose taking a week to do something he wants to do. Take the giant log out of your own eye before going after his splinter.

Pssst, here's something you'll never hear a doctor tell a disabled individual - go sit outside in ungodly hot temps for a week, on concrete, with no shower. Yes yes yes, everyone pointing out that this guy is an idiot are just trolls. We're trolling his right to be an attention whore. Wahh wahh wahhh

Agreed. As if being disabled is an excuse for something so silly. I can't believe we live in a world where camping out for a phone is supported.

Jimmy - You clearly made your opinion known in the other thread. Was that not enough for you? You have to come here and bash the guy even more?

OK, they mention where well wisher can post, but where are people who wish to ridicule him supposed to post. Oh, here? How ridiculous.

Knox Street

KEWL! The Knox street store is in a cool shopping area in Dallas, featuring many boutique stores. What they don't show you in the photo is that Chuy's (a popular mexican restaurant in Texas) is right across the street. Hopefully he takes a break for a margarita.

I am from Houston, but will be in Dallas at launch. Ironically, this is the location I plan to be at as it's fairly close to downtown.
