Looks like he's having fun, and not disturbing the public. That's all it matters. Look back when you're older, and this will be one crazy / funny story to tell your grand childs. :)

what?? I don't follow your logic

he's not disabled. if you can't find a job keep looking. try to figure out some value you can provide to someone else. something people will pay for. voila, a job. Jobs aren't magic.

f*** i'm late for my job. shows what value i am. peace dudes.

Yes he is

He's not, he already has a pre-order.

Read post 163 (and the original article, for that matter) again. You don't have a good perspective on the situation.

it does not matter that he has pre-ordered it he is still waiting in line to be one of the first to have one... and get all the attention. Saying that he is there for the experience is even sadder.

What experience? waiting for x days, dirt, heat, no comfort, meet other "idiots" that share the experience of waiting in line for a phone!!!!!!

Sorry, he way be a nice guy but something is way off the mark.

I have a friend who draws disability. She's epileptic.

It's not that she can't work. It's not that she doesn't want to work.

NO ONE WILL HIRE HER. Her disability makes her a liability and an insurance nightmare for any employer.

Just sayin'.

That's not insensitive, that's ignorant. You don't know what he has to deal with, you just assume everyone can handle things, because you don't have empathy. Walk a mile in his shoes, buddy.

Yes, because obviously he is homeless as well since he can't have it delivered on launch day? If he had time to camp out for a week, he must have had time to sit in front of a computer on launch day and wait for the pinwheel to unfreeze. :p

Good for him

Sounds like it's gonna be an interesting week for this dude...

The discussion here is getting pretty heated about his inability to work due to his generic 'seizure disorder'. I know a couple people with these type of disabilities that have jobs no problem, so I wonder if it's that bad that he can't work, how he can realistically be on the street for a week...sounds like he'd need medical supervision if it was bad enough for him not to hold down a job of any kind.

Whatever though, I'm sure he has his reasons. Good luck.

I am really sorry for this guy and all others who spend hours in lines for some gadgets... and then they are going to spend days and weeks playing with those gadgets instead of spending time with their families.

I've spent time with my family doing things that involve the iPhone all the time. We pass around the phone and compete for high scores with several different games I've downloaded. Using the iPhone does not require neglecting family and to add more to it, we use it as a GPS and go Geocaching. So were outside and together because of this little device. It's worth waiting in line for me because the iPhone is a big part of the activities I do with my family and my free time.

It's difficult to walk a mile in his shoes when his shoes will be camped in the next week. Besides, I wouldn't even want to get close to the man. One week camping in the heat to get a bloody phone - very intelligent. This is so pathetic that it's beyond belief.

Yep, the dude is a loser, but the one paying the highest price is going to be the poor schlub in line behind him.

Please get a job

Seriously, dude. Seizure disorder? Is this really keeping you from working? If you can camp out for a week, use a computer, type an intelligible post, then you need to get a job. This is unacceptable, my brother. Go to a local church, synagogue, mosque, temple, YMCA, community center, or whatever and tell them you will mow their lawn for free. Give yourself the gift of work. You will discover great joy in the gift of work: Self-respect.

I know you can do it. It is hard to return to work after so many years off, but you can do it. Start small. Go volunteer to mow that lawn and watch your spirit soar.

Best Wishes!

After reading the first couple pages of this thread, all I can say is: MacRumors, you disappoint me. People here are posting judgements about this guy based on a disability, not working for a week, and the picture posted of him.

You call him emo because of his picture? You ask how he can afford to pay his phone bill? You ask how he can camp when he is disabled? Seriously?

My god, I feel like I am back in Middle School. I am 22 years old, and none of my friends are this judgmental about people. Its disgusting. It doesn't take balls to sit behind a computer screen and pass judgement on someone you haven't ever met.

Did you ever consider that maybe his doctor just told him to take some time off from work? Do you even know what kind of job he has?

Haters in this thread, please grow up. Its really pathetic the way you are acting. This is MacRumors, and he is a Apple fan, why is this so insane to so many people? If it makes the guy happy, who are we to rip on him for it?

Usually, if I want to go camping, I head into the woods.

It must be tough to fish... relax... have a campfire... drink... etc on the side of the corner of a city road.

He didn't mention showering either... Hmmmm

.

You just did it too. Run along, hypocrite.

Sorry, but this is just stupid, and it's stuff like this that makes the anti-Mac camp associate all of us with the "fanboi" persona.

Nope, I am critiquing what people have been saying. This guy said he was disabled and is camping and people are ripping into him making assumptions about his condition.

There is a major difference between me reading offensive things being said here and replying, and someone reading about a disabled guy camping and making fun of him without facts. If you don't understand that I feel sorry for you.

yes and no

If you discount a few personal remarks (that you may consider unfortunate) I think most people here are amazed by the fact that people can be so futile as to spend their precious time waiting in line for days/hours for a stupid phone.

As opposed to the "idiots" who spend every day reading through internet forums posting their opinions for the world to see as if it makes any difference in the grand scheme of things? :)

Different things make different people happy. Some people like sitting on a lake all day fishing just to throw the fish back, some people like watching NASCAR drivers drive in a circle 500 times in a row, etc. I like programming and I don't finish most of the things I start coding, and I know plenty of people who think that is stupid.

I don't care what makes people happy, why should you? He isn't wasting your time. He is doing something that makes him happy, and others are sitting here belittling him on a forum.

"I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder"

I dont mean to sound insensitive, but wow. Too disabled to work, but not so disabled that you can't setup a tent and camp out for a week in the Texas heat in June?

I hate when people act like their lives are pure. Let the guy camp. He's legally unable to work. Who wouldn't take advantage. Everyone has a passion for something that makes them do crazy things. Its what makes the world weirdly interesting. My only thing is the fact that he said it publicly during a time when the country really needs the money the govt wastes.
