It's like the exact opposite of US. I don't think they will be able to order iPhone X off Apple.com but carriers do show up.

ya true. It is possible reserve and pickup will allow for carrier upgrades. I may be worth trying that option since I do know it is possible to do carrier upgrade at apple store.

Does anyone have experience with using an Apple Store Gift Card when paying for preorders?
I always used Apple Finance in the past, but now it is discontinued in Canada... The Apple Store app does not allow me to add my particular credit card(!) so I'm trying to find an alternative payment method that will work in the app.

Anyone else not mind this? It's an experience. Getting the phone delivered to your house takes the fun out of it for me.
ill be using a gift card, i already have 2 preloaded for 1500 each for 2 64 GB's. I would've went with apple pay as its a good 5-10 seconds faster, but i already had $3600 on 2 apple gift cards from when i bought and returned a macbook pro. I've never used the method though, so im really just hoping and expecting it to work flawlessly. If it doesn't, i'll probably be screwed, although i would just switch to using apple pay.
I used one in September when pre-ordering the Series 3 Watch. Was unsure how it would work but the process was very smooth, and the gift card only covered part of the total payment. I had it pre-loaded in my Wallet app on the phone.

I want to get one for myself and one for my wife. When pre ordering 2 do I simple add one to cart go back and add another the. Checkout? Or is there a quicker way. From the sounds of it preorder is going to be chaos
personally, I am going to order 2 since I am unsure which colour I want. I will order my first choice first so I have the best luck initially of getting atleast one, then will go back and order the second immediately after the first goes through. Both are in my favorites.

Yea I have it stored in my closet in my safe box. You don't 'need' the physical cards once you upload them to your wallet, however Apple recommended keeping the physical card in case there are any issues. But if that happens, my issues will be more than just a couple of gift cards, i might miss out on the X lol.

Word is, if you're ordering 2 you might want to make them separate orders....if the second one is held up, they'll hold the first until the second is ready to ship.
@LoveToMacRumors - think it was you that was asking - there should be two lines outside the Apple store - one for reservations and one for those hoping to get one from store stock. (if you make an appointment for a time after the chaos, then there shouldn't be a line) 🙂

how has the demand been in Canada? I honestly don't see or hear anyone talking about this. Obviously it's pretty damn expensive, and because of our lovely telecommunications oligopoly, we don't get the same deals that our US counterparts get. So we always will pay more out of pocket for an iPhone, especially with the exchange rate premium Apple put this year.

I don't think we are going get decent supply, most likely USA will get the most and we just share with them.

USA will get the most, but we won't be 'sharing' with them. Apple allocates a certain percentage to each country and none of us know what those percentages are.
I think supply will be low but pre orders will be low too. Especially on Apple site. Most people get phone through carrier so I think anyone ordering at pre order time will get their phone shortly

I completely agree, which I absolutely love hearing. The vast majority of people will go through their carrier so they can take advantage of the discounted up front price. The drawback of that is you are at mercy to the quantities available to Rogers/Bell/Telus etc (Fido isnt carrying the X). I can't imagine that there are too many people who are going to buy it outright at full price from the Apple store, and even the ones who will, i doubt they will be up at 12:01 to do so.
we shall see. there will still be a fair amount of people that have no problem affording and want the latest. The question really comes down to the supply for Canada apple store vs. carriers etc.. They may only have 100,000 phones for launch, something like 25,000 each model. I am sure more than 100,000 people will be pre-ordering tonight.

I would assume that the Apple store will get a decent supply. I have 6 major Apple stores within 20 miles of me. At least for me, I'll be competing with those who are paying full price directly from Apple; which in that case, I like my chances.
This is my first year doing this right when they go on sale and my first year doing it direct from Apple at full price. Does that really give us an advantage? How has your experience been in the past with unlocked full price phones?
Yea, Canada demand should be lower than, UK, USA, many countries in Asia. I've never seen someone with Airpods yet, and even AW is rare, maybe seen once a month.
