It's like "Hey we know you are mad because you have to wait to get your phone, but in the meantime look at us destroying these phones!"
Don't get me started on that ****!!! Someone posted a link to a father/son team that they cut devices open - of them destroying an X. All of these people all over the world clamouring for this device and you're destroying one! *******!!! :)

I just can’t bring myself to use it naked. Im too OCD about scuffs and scratches. If you look online, the X can break at even a 3foot drop from pocket height. I think i’ll just get it. Peace of mind+ easier to resell when the time comes.

Have you seen the drop videos? They are extremely painful to watch lol

There's also another video where someone dropped it from head-height. iPhone 8 shattered, while the X was fine. His conclusion was that the stainless steel may be offering some extra shock protection. I'm not going to test this.

Saw that video from EverythingApplePro. The X looked fine, but Face ID stopped working.

y would it be going through calgary? just curious.

The first scan was in Calgary. Seems like it's shipping from there. I ordered from Telus btw.

Telus is an Alberta based company with head office in Calgary. All other TELUS orders I’ve seen have also shipped from Calgary. Mine too. They ship Xpresspost so mine was just one day as I’m considered regional (one province over) but Quebec will take an extra day or so as it’s the national time frame.

Heh...I'm going to have a hard enough doing this myself. I'm hoping after a couple of months I won't be so nervous. Certainly not going to watch the videos....would make it all the harder. Same OCD issues about scuffs and scratches, but I've always been really careful with my devices...I think I could get away with this (provided I don't drop it on anything other than carpet of course) :)

Edit: Also have a friend that's been running his 8+ naked since launch and he's just as obsessive about it....and has thoroughly enjoyed just how damn gorgeous these devices are without a case. So, that's encouraging!!
Just FYI, my phone has been in the case and with a screen protector right out of the box (had an Apple tech do both), and when i got home i noticed a few hairline marks on the stainless steel band (i have a silver iPhone). Suffice to say, if the process of putting it in a case can produce tiny marks, using it naked will almost certainly do that. I should note that the marks (i don't want to call them scratches, they aren't deep at all) are only seen under direct light, so it probably would be imperceptible anyways. The case I have is so thin and is clear, I have no need to use it naked as the beauty shines through. I'll post a pic later

I think that the AD money they will make off of the video will more than pay for the iPhone X they broke. Especially for the youtubers who are doing it early, everyone wants to see exactly how strong this glass is. After seeing someone break it with a 3 foot drop, I'm going to assume that this phone is extremely delicate.

Every drop is different. The height doesn't matter as much as how it falls and the angle (and what it comes into contact with). The only difference between the 8 and X is front display and the enclosure along the sides. The question becomes does the enclosure of the X add extra shock protection or not. Also, how susceptible to shattering is the OLED screen vs the LCD screen. The glass backs of both phones are exactly the same.

Either way, I've dropped my 6+ over 50 times in the 3 years that I had it. It developed touch disease, bendgate etc. AC+ seems like a must for me now that I think about it. I would be unbelievably upset if the front/back glass broke even with a case and glass screen protector. I was under the assumption that both things would protect against damage, however the Apple tech says otherwise (not sure if he was trying to sell me up on AC+).

Can someone who has had a case and glass screen protector on their phone tell me if the screen underneath every broke on a drop?

Yes it seems that is (Telus’s) distribution point. That is where my first scan and it appears other Telus customers first scans were. Hope your X arrives soon!

Yea I wanted the 256 so that it was future proof, but since I know ill be selling mine in September it doesn’t really matter. After transferring all my stuff I still have 40gb of space. Im not a big video guy and dont store things to watch on my phone. Plus I use the cloud for photos. At least for you if you plan on keeping the phone for years the 256 is by far the better choice. Im really just waiting for a Gold X+ next year.. that phone I’ll max out the storage and add AC+, probably will cost over 2500 haha
[doublepost=1509971211][/doublepost]What’s everyon’s opinion on AppleCare+? I think I’m going to go buy it today. Even though I have a case and glass screen protector, im still a bit concerned about the glass breaking if I drop it. The tension points are on the corners. I had an Apple rep tell me that he’s seen phones dropped with a case and glass screen protector and it still broke the display underneath! Not interested in spending the 350+tax to replace the front glass or even more scary, 709+tax to replace back glass/water damage etc. I think it will also help when i go to resell it.

Even though I’m very confident I won’t break or drop the phone, the worrying is getting annoying. Paying 281 for piece of mind is steep, but when you’re talking about a 1500$ device, it makes a bit of sense.

Mine is in a case and with glass screen protector but I still added AppleCare+ this weekend. I don’t bother any more for my iPads and such but my phone goes everywhere and in and out of pockets and bags, is subject to all sorts of weather, and more likely to be dropped or subject to someone else doing something stupid to it (including my cat knocking it off a table ;) ). If you have AppleCare+ you also often get immediate replacement (though not advertised) instead of waiting for repair.

I dropped my previous phones (including a glass backed 4!) many times with a case and a regular screen protector and never cracked them - even where it fell of from a treadmill onto a concrete floo - but I am still not risking it. The X glass costs a lot more for repair, and with this being a new model I would like to be covered for issues that might show up in Year 2 (like burn in).

Ok good to know. I agree, AC+ benefits extend far beyond the low deductible for screen repair or device replacement. Apple is usually pretty easy going about giving a replacement device. Selling the phone next year also will be a breeze.

This being a brand new first-gen device, it makes a lot more sense. Also with Apple's historical pattern of denying certain manufacturer defects and blaming it on customer actions (e.g. iPhone 6+ touch disease), I'm not interested in taking the risk or getting into a fight with Apple if something happens. I'll be going to the Apple store in a few hours to add Apple Care Plus.

You can also do it online via Apple.ca. They just do an online diagnostic check. Ignore the part where it says it will be $299; it will end up actually being and charging $249 plus tax.

My phone is now in my city and says it's out for delivery! The mail comes at my house around 12 usually so only a couple hours to wait!

They usually get shipments in through the day so keep a check on that.
I imagine they'll save that stock for tomorrow at 6 am. And I'm thinking there was no new stock this morning because UPS doesn't deliver on the weekends. So tomorrow should be pretty good.

Yea I tried to but i have a $200 gift card for the 6+ i traded in and i can only use the gift card in store (weird right). I cannot buy just apple care on this

I can't use my gift card online, just tried. So off to the store for me

Interesting ... In the 5 stores in west GTA, just a few hits on istocknow at 6am this morning that disappeared fast and all quiet since. Wonder if we'll see any resupply today.

Probably tomorrow. It looks like supply/demand is starting to normalize. A lot of 2-3 week delivery people were able to secure a reservation and have cancelled their orders. I'm quite sure that by Christmas everyone who wants an X will have one.

I have an old 6+ and iPhone 5 now. May keep the 5 as a backup and trade the 6+ in for the $200 gift card.

Any bets if the HomePod/iMac Pro will be this bad for pre-orders??

From credit card charge to delivery, how long does it typically take? My card was just charged. I placed my order at 12:08pst on the 27th.

I never did receive an email confirmation, and my delivery status still says processing delivery Nov 21-28th.

Hopefully, I get it by Thursday.

Ordered on Oct 27, email confirmation 3:10 am, delivery Nov 21-28, status just changed to "preparing for shipment"

Ditto here. Mine just changed as well. Still showing Nov 21-28 though. Hopefully that will get bumped.
