Just FYI, my phone has been in the case and with a screen protector right out of the box (had an Apple tech do both), and when i got home i noticed a few hairline marks on the stainless steel band (i have a silver iPhone). Suffice to say, if the process of putting it in a case can produce tiny marks, using it naked will almost certainly do that. I should note that the marks (i don't want to call them scratches, they aren't deep at all) are only seen under direct light, so it probably would be imperceptible anyways. The case I have is so thin and is clear, I have no need to use it naked as the beauty shines through. I'll post a pic later
Hey, meant to comment on this earlier. The stainless steel band on the Space Grey will hopefully not mark as easily as those on the silver due to the PVD coating that has been applied. I don't yet know which particulates they've used (I'm certainly hoping it's a form of DLC like the Space Black watch), but I'm hoping it will have a hardness that proves impervious to the day to day handling of the iPhone X. :)

NOOOOOOO!!! Sending it to a UPS Store will often cause you a day's delay (as the stores usually don't get their deliveries/pick-ups until the end of the day).
Get it delivered to your UPS CC - the hub that it would get routed to on the way to your home - that way you might be able to pick it up on the way to work (depends on their hours).

But do it quickly! Once your package gets a "destination scan" any change in destination will cause a delay.
This is being delivered to my work address. We have a central mail room where UPS delivers to. I run and go pick it up from there as soon as I get a UPS notification saying it's delivered. Fingers crossed.

Apparentely the SG will not scratch as easily, but when it does, it is way more noticeable since the steel underneath shines through an otherwise black border.

Yep. I'm on my second space black watch (S0 -> S3). The first one, not a mark after 2+ years of use. Sure, you baby it the first few months, but after that I got over it...and it was just a watch. Doing reno's, landscaping, you name it. It got beaten on, dinged off of door jams, etc, etc. Not a scratch anywhere on it - including the sapphire lens.

Really wish Apple would get us Sapphire for the front lens of the iPhone....maybe one day.

I'm looking forward to the interview where one of the Apple execs spills the beans on what they used for the space grey's steel border. Maybe it'll be Jony. Doesn't matter. Just hope it's almost as hard as the DLC....if not the same hardness. :) (if the latter, you'd have to let someone scratch it with a diamond ring....or drag it along some shiny concrete at a resort - shiny concrete often has particulates approaching diamond in hardness).

I don't understand why Apple doesn't invest more in anti-scratch exteriors. I always thought it was about money. You drop your phone, a couple of chips and scratches, all of a sudden it looks old and used and you want to buy a new one (at least that's me). If they developed an anti-scratch coating that would be fantastic. If you buy AC+, you'd never need a case.

Woot, mine is fully trackable now on UPS MyChoice.

They do say two pieces of ID - so you should give him your license and something else (the credit card you're paying with should work) :)

Normally you specify a different person to pick it up when doing the reservation, but considering how quickly you need to finalize these, I wouldn't try...you may miss out. :) You could call Apple after the fact - maybe have them update the reservation to state that then?
ye thats the thing if i try to get all that info down then the phone will be gone lol. I guess ill do it with my pre filled info and call them :D.

If i manage to get my hand one one to begin with

I would be all over a housing that is made of harder steel or ceramic, if this were a watch or something similar that is supposed to last 50-100+ yrs. At the moment, we tend to cycle through these devices every year. Is it really worth investing into materials meant for longevity on such short-term objects?

Thinking about it that way it definitely doesn't make sense. Also, you have to think that anything that dissuades an individual from upgrading their cell phone would be Apple/Samsung's enemy. They have been working towards a world whereby everyone upgrades every year. Imagine that if a phone were to last 1 year versus 2 years, not a big deal to the consumer, but for cell phone manufacturers, it's doubling their income!

Is it worth it to wake up at 6AM tomorrow morning and try to get a reservation? My order is STILL in progress even though i got apple confirmation at 3:05 AM. I have been stalking apple all day and no re-stocks, do they usually happen at 6am? Trying for Conestoga Mall in Waterloo.

Also try calling them, never know if you get lucky

I'm in the same boat, but I'll be up at 6 am already so might as well try. I'd probably still set my alarm even if I could be sleeping in later.

Calling them is somewhat pointless. Any stock the store gets is nabbed up pretty quickly as most people trying are either refreshing in their app like mad or using istocknow so they get alerted the moment something is added to one of their local stores.

Go up on iStocknow, setup an alert for the iPhone X configuration you're looking for at the store(s) you're looking for. Then, once you have the e-mail notification setup, use their browser notifications: https://www.istocknow.com/browser

Between that and using the app, you should be able to get your reservation quickly. Good luck!! :)

I got mine by calling the apple store, online reservation didn't go too well for me.

Found some dusts in my rear camera lens, and a minor scratch on the monitor after three days. Got it exchanged brand new at the yorkdale store. Apparently they put some brand new aside for exchange purposes.

Ditto here. Mine just changed as well. Still showing Nov 21-28 though. Hopefully that will get bumped.
Is this an unlo
confirmation of order email received at 12:06, given Nov. 21-28 shipping. Updated to preparing for shipment yesterday afternoon. Received shipped email overnight with tracking. Tracking says Nov. 14 delivery, phone still in China. In the Apple app, even though status is shipped, order still says "Delivers 21 Nov - 28 Nov."
Is this an unlocked phone?

Just went from preparing for shipment to shipped and got email with tracking info. However, it says delivered Nov. 17th....no way it should take that long if it shipped today.

My 256 shipped last night, ETA of Friday. And now all Vancouver stores have that model for pickup tomorrow. Haha. Just my luck. Can’t cancel the order, so I guess I wait until friday now.

Guess i got lucky my 21-27 (256 silver) still hasn't shipped, was setting my alarm for 5:55 am to try my luck again, and got the email.. was able to reserve one at metro tomorrow and still cancel my online order.

Congratulations. Did you reserve it or buy it? I tried to reserve it but it wasn't available that way.

You should be up by now - reservations start in less than an hour. :) Which configuration (colour/size) are you trying to get?
