(I love the play-by-play we're doing here).

Hello, I'm John Madden. (imagine a yellow graphic pen coming out). Right here we got the iTunes, and here's the country selector. NO CANADA, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! That's a penality!!

I agree with you but you are being a bit harsh on him, coz you forget language evolves and this type of pirating of music is now beginning to be referred to as stealing or theft.

Is it beginning to be referred to as stealing or theft by the media industry. Do they have authority to add meaning to words now?

I didn't think so.

Besides, "piracy" is what's being used to described illegally copied software, why can't we use that word for music and movies?

Apple would never promise something if they weren't sure they could--

Wait, someone's at the door. I bet it's the UPS guy with my 3 GHz PowerMac G5. BRB

Don't you mean Dual-Core 3GHz PowerBook? ;)

It just occurred to me that maybe this type of practice (ie: free song not working right away, switching back to old design) is common everytime Apple updates the store for New Music Tuesday, it's just we're all usually asleep because they do it at two in the morning, so no one notices.
Don't want to sound like a pessimist, GOD I hope something's coming, I'm almost out of US iTunes Target cards.

Tired of Waiting

This is a joke..... I've watched this thread all day....hoping for a hint of info.... (Not to mention all waiting this past friday, and last tuesday...and back in October.....)
All I want is the store to open, then I can get back to my papers.....

The purpose of the levy in Canada is to allow consumers to make legal copies (as many as you want) of the music that you buy and then the owners of the music receive money for the copies. Its not to make up for all the illegal music distribution. I never really thought about it, but Apple's copy protection actually limits the legal rights of consumers. Someone should try suing Apple for infringement of rights. :D

From what I've read, the tax really IS to account for piracy. After all, hasn't the industry said times and times again that when you buy music or a movie, you're buying a license to listen/watch said media?

So, if I'm buying a license for personnal use, what's their problem with me having the purchased CD, an MP3 copy on my laptop, an AAC copy on my computer at work and an Apple Lossless version on my home PC? It's all for *my* personnal use, and I already paid said license!

Sometimes, the industry contradict itself. Worst, they want to have their cake and eat it too.

The music store is also acting weird for me as well. The free single of the week is $.99. Kinda odd if you ask me.

as obi-wan once said
"patience my young padawan" It will open soon enough.

BTW..

Why don't all you guys debating over the legality of P2P discuss this issue in anotehr forum..... let this be about iTMS and that's it. Just a though.....

You guys have no IDEA how much time I have wasted today on this forum wait for the store. I definitely should have been studying, it's quite sad really.

Same here, not to mention all the other "close calls" we've had in the past!

The store hung for a little, then loaded first slide again...
is that it?

Nope, keep going. When you get back to the first one again, it'll be last week's. I feel like Sherlock Holmes, lol, looking for clues.
