Well, now everything is as usual when i try to come in to ITMS, i get the country warning, click on the link, and i caome in and listen to the songs (30 sec.) Looks like they fixed the bug and that ITMS Canada is not coming.
It can be the same, why should you have it, if we can't have it (Norway)

Is it here?

I opened Itunes this morning and it took me straight to the US store. no warnings no nothing. Does that mean its here?

Never mind, It took three tries and gave me the warning again.

:(

if they're still in negotiations, they're not going to badmouth them. could you imagine a canada itms PERMANENTLY w/o sony/bmg? that would not go over well...

i can wait for the store... what's killing me is what the price is going to be.

Should be 99 cents CAD, or 1.19 CAD. Me thinks it will be 99 cents CAD.

Anyhow no itms Canada in November or maybe he meant 2005.

In any regards I am going to have a fat bank account for christmas. :)

the 30th came and went, and no iTunes music store for the candians. I don't know why people are giving it negative rating, it was a rumor that other people came up with. Apple didn't plan an event or anything to make us think of any major announcement and then disappoint us. Blame the rumor starters.

Steve Jobs said it himself on the same event the ipod photo came out. Natalie Kerris said it in an interview. this was not a rumor we just made up. they said it.

Apple had planned to launch a store in Canada in November 04 and has assured Canadian audiophiles that it will make the November deadline. “It's still November; we'll launch in November,” Apple's Natalie Kerris said.

I mean I really don't know what all the fuss is about. I use iTMS here in the US. But, it's no cheaper than going to the store and buying the physical CD on most newly released music. It's the back catalogue that makes iTMS worthwhile.

The back catalog and the ability to buy a single tune is what makes iTMS so nice.

It's like that damn Vertigo tune... I keep seeing the ad on TV, so the tune is stuck in my head... Wouldn't mind paying 0.99$CAN to add it to my PC and iPod. ;)

... and what does healthcare have to do with iTMS?

iGary said:
This is why tens of thousands of Canadians that can afford it come accross the border for American medical attention.

Actually they go for the overpriced healthcare, but they stay for the iTMS... and the added benefit is that they counterbalance the tens of thousands of US citizens who die annually from a lack of healthcare, gun-related injuries, and homicides each year.

Back to normal

I just checked the store less than five minutes ago, and I was greeted by the "Not available yet" page. When I clicked to browse, though, the Infinite Loop was gone and I was taken to the US store. Thinking something was up, I browsed the list of stores: still no Canada. This makes me think the Canadian store isn't imminent, though I base this on gut feeling and wish it were different.

I don't get it. Fellow Canadians, when this store comes out, what are you going to do? Do you not already have a collection of music downloaded from p2ps on your computer? Are you going to delete those files and download everything again from iTunes? Or have you been waiting through this whole "napster" thing until some company came along and told you it was finally legal to download music from their service?
I can see some use in the full album downloads, saving a bit of time as such... but come on!

Believe it or not, I will delete some files I downloaded from P2P and purchase them on iTMS Canada. Not all files of course, but those I happen to play a lot, or that I rated 3+.

I do believe in paying for things that are worth their price (that's why I finally got an iPod, yes it's a lot more expensive, but I had to buy two other MP3 players before figuring that out), and 0.99$CAN for a tune is a fair enough price.

Now, if iTMS Canada opens up with tunes at higher than 0.99$CAN... Well, you know what'll happen then. National riot! (we're about 10-20 Canadians on macrumors, let's multiply this by a 100, and you got 1000 to 2000 Canadians on the streets! You wouldn't want THAT to happen, would you?)

Apple never had iTMS ads on TV. What you see are "iPod + iTunes" ads, not "iTMS" ads.

iTunes does not equal iTMS.

Ads now appearing on Canadian television networks are advertising a localized version of Apple's iTunes Music Store, although the service has yet to open for business

http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=764

"They look, sound, and feel exactly like current US ads," said one viewer. But instead of ending with an the iTunes.com web address, the spots direct viewers to apple.ca. *

Macrumors:
After a delay reaching the promised November release, we've learned from an inside source that the Canadian localization of the iTunes Music Store is headed for launch on December 1.

Yeah, I know... I was kidding. :D

That might also explain why we haven't heard a peep from Apple yet.

But in the end, we all know what we'll complain about next: why can't we merge all iTMS into one and buy any tune from any country?

I'm hoping for .99... It's a good price and that way we can stick out our toungs at the US 'cause we're gettin' it cheaper. ;)

At the rate it's going, we'll end up paying more in a few months.

Go watch the U2/Apple video. Steve Jobs himself said "in november for Canada".

Nah, it just means that Dubya's visit was to annex Canada to the USA. The USA iTMS is now your iTMS too! ;)

And since when does "apple.ca" equals "iTMS"?

Sorry, but that "apple.ca" ad has been running for weeks (if not months) on Space channel.

English & French?

Has anyone heard if there will be English and French versions for Canada? Perhaps that's what's holding them up... Perhaps the language police won't allow it in Quebec without a French version?

(to those in the US and others, yes we actually have language police in Quebec)

Convenience

For me, ITMS is convenience. I still plan to buy most of my albums on but it's those few rarities that you can't find anywhere, or can only find with songs you don't want on the rest of the album.
I think the first song I'll download when the store is up will be "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy" by Bing Crosby with David Bowie. Sappy, but an interesting duo and a classic song.

Well, language "police" is pretty strong. Let's just say "language laws".

Anyway, I really don't think that's the problem, everything has already been translated in french for the euro iTMS (ya know, France?).

Bah, forget all of this.

Where is iTMS Japan? :D

I don't think police is too strong... the Office de la langue francaise has officers who go out and do inspections for infractions against the language laws.

Anyway, I don't think any other localization has 2 language options do they? In France you can't choose between English and French, it's just French. In the US you can't choose between English and Spanish... etc.
