Look past the marketing and think critically.

I personally don't care at all about "marketing", which is why I looked at the results of the thermal comparisons.

You are creating hypotheticals for materials on iPhones that don't exist with a vapor chamber.

There isn't any critical thinking involved in your question - it's a logical fallacy! (eg. whataboutism)

***EDIT***
So some examples...

The top gaming phones are made of aluminum - Asus Phone 9 Pro and the RedMagic 10 Pro.

The Red Magic 8 Pro 10 has titanium but uses a heavy cooling system (ICE 11.0 multilayer cooling, internal fan, etc.), so again, not a valid comparison.

We can't really replicate Apple's vapor cooling with titanium, cause it doesn't exist.

What are you going on about? The only reason you even care to mutter the words “thermal comparisons” is because of marketing 🤣

The hypotheticals aren’t empty. He is questioning the assumption that aluminum was the main reason for thermal gains, not denying the gains happened.

When multiple variables change, asking which ones mattered most is called critical thinking, not deflection.

And comparing other phones with titanium/glass and great thermals isn’t whataboutism, its evidence that materials aren’t everything.

It is, because the poster said it was a "poor decision". The phonearena review admitted that the aluminum body plays a huge role on why the iPhone runs cooler. Also, dave2d on YT made a similar claim..

If you have an example to cite to prove what you are talking about...do it! I don't see it.

The phone really is bad. Had a go with one in the store today and this must be the first iPhone I've ever held where you think it needs to go on a diet, the sides of it feel like they're budging out. Which is a strange juxtaposition with the overly sharp corners of the camera 'plateau' which the anodising chips off of. Then you've got the Apple logo which sits too low on the back and non centred with the MagSafe magnets which make an impression on the rear of the phone. The Apple logo even pokes out of the bottom when an MagSafe charger is attached, and then there's that abomination of a 'clear' case which is actually solid white to cover all the logo nonsense.

Avoid this phone at all costs and hopefully Apple gets the message they need to do better

A true stinker

I just setup my iPhone 17 Pro Max over the weekend. It is fantastic. This is the first time I got the Pro Max instead of the Pro. It is great but will take a little getting used to. I keep finding new things about this that are awesome. I just found that the speaker phone is much better than it was on the 14 Pro.

Good feedback.

Did you have a go on the Air? That’s the star of the show this year.

How old are you? Serious question

No kidding!

My Air after the 4th day has so much battery charge left, I won't have to charge until the next day.

All day use during the week is my test - battery at 70% end of Monday!

I am so stoked!

Much better than my 16 Pro which would barely make it to 40% at the end of the day!

Sounds promising, mostly wifi or 5G?

I would bet a lot of money that without the orange hit that the consensus on the design/aesthetic of the pro would be completely different

What do you have to say about the multiple reports (yeah, already) of people dropping their pros with cases on, and finding a damaged chassis? Are we okay with this?

Drop it and it breaks. I don't see how this is different from any previous model. The titanium strip didn't make 15Ps and 16Ps indestructible.

I posted tests from phonearena with the comparisons. Where is the marketing in what I posted? You assumed also that I "fell for marketing", which again...is a fallacious argument, because i used tests for the point I was making.

A bad faith discussion includes non existent hypotheticals. The review and testing I posted literally cited aluminum as the reason for the better thermals.

You said: "And comparing other phones with titanium/glass and great thermals isn’t whataboutism, its evidence that materials aren’t everything."

The reviews I've seen cite the aluminum choice to be a more vital role in the heat dissipation than the vapor cooling. So the hypothetical is seemingly irrelevant, unless someone wants to show some counter examples? That's all I asked for.

Are you actually interested in a good faith discussion? Instead it seems you are more interested in pivoting to irrelevant talking points like asking my age. I honestly don't even own this device, I have a 16 Pro Max.

I saw it for the first time at the Apple store yesterday. They were all scratched up in the back which disappointed me and did feel less premium. I dislike the more rounded corners as well. It still looks nice but didn't wow me like the blue 15 Pro Max and my latest Fold 7. My job is offering a free trade in but now I'm hesitant due to the feel and look. Doesn't look like a huge upgrade for me so maybe I'll wait for a more refined version next year.

You do realise that those scratches can be easily wiped off?!

What is the definition of a “premium feel”? Like if you had to write something up for a dictionary what would you say?

Walked into the Apple Store and every Orange/Blue 17 Pro Max on display was already scratched up with MagSafe rings. I got the Silver, and honestly, the Pro feels ridiculously cheap in hand. This is the first iPhone Pro that doesn’t feel like a Pro at all. On top of that, Apple’s marketing is completely misleading they hype it as some kind of ‘invincible’ phone, but the reality couldn’t be further from that. Totally disappointed this year
It doesn’t feel cheap to me.

For most people it’s weight and solidity and durability. The average person cannot tell one metal from another by feel given similar finishes. The problem is that lighter materials are generally more expensive and harder to make than heavier ones.

I guess if Apple made a fully carbon fiber phone (somehow) people would freak out calling it cheap feeling because it feels like plastic and is super light even though it is markedly more expensive than any of these metals.
