I don't know about the GM version, only tried on my development device - iPod touch, and it does seem a bit sluggish, but I just finished installing the final version of iOS 7 on my iPad 3, it feels a lot better compared to the GM on my iPod touch.

I tried playing Asphalt 8 which sucks big time on iOS 7 GM with iPod touch, there's no problem with the iPad 3.

Also tried most apps I installed, mostly for reading, no (noticeable performance issue).

Note that I haven't investigate possible free space issue, in the iPad there's about 50% space left, while in the iPod touch there's about 15% space left.

I'm extremely pleased with how my 32GB Mini is running. It's super fast and the apps made only for iPhone now open up full screen using retina graphics so that they do not look pixelated. That right there is the biggest thing I was looking forward to. I like the animations in doing things also.

I'm happy.

I'm happy with how iOS 7 perform on my mini despite some stutter when you close an app using gestures. But whatever its not a big deal to me..... yet.

Just my personal experience but I upgraded my ios7 to a iPad 3 and it was stutters etc. I did complete wipe and installed just the apps I wanted and it is smooth as butter again.

Slightly laggy on my ipad3. Safari seems snappier. Biggest dislike so far is the app switcher - used to be easy to access all the app icons on one screen, now have to swipe to access across several screens. I thought Apple was all about economy.

Yeah I'm finding it a bit lagging on my ipad mini. Especially when swiping the lock screen.

It's laggy on my ipad 3 especially when I try to change the wallpaper. There's also some stutter when I swipe between apps and when I use the keyboard.
It really doesn't feel optimized for the ipad, at least not ipad 3...

When you say reset and restart what method are you referring to?

Go into general settings to the bottom, go to reset, then hit reset all settings.

Then power down the iPad and restart it, this cleared all the lag and the unresponsive, delay on my keyboard also. iOS 7 has been great after I performed the above.

I'm seeing a pattern, similar to every major iOS upgrade. Restore vs clean install. Clean install gave me zero lag on my 3.

Zero lag on my iPad mini. iOS 7 is like a breath of fresh air, I like it even better on the iPad than on the iPhone.

It's lagging bad for me on my Mini, Safari is almost unusable it's so laggy. I'm quite upset about it. I use my Mini ALL the time.

Geez, I have two and no problems on either. One was a fresh install on a preowned one with nothing on it and the other just an update. I did not even back up anything on the latter.

Not sure why some folks have issues and others don't. You say in Safari, maybe it was your connection perhaps? Both Minis I have performed well with Safari. I just cannot find the darn bookmarks bar.

On my iPad 3:

Turned off parallax, turned off transparency, turned off background app updates, turned off cloud ---- it now runs better than with iOS6.

With Increase Contrast and bold font, its near perfect. :apple:

My name must be Nobody because I don't experience that alleged "stuttering" on my iPad mini.

Rotate the orientation of your device on the home screen and tell us again how its buttery smooth. Also if you have folders notice how they flicker...... If you somehow magically found a method around this let us know.

Just updated my iPad4 with iOS7. The download and install were flawless. The iPad feels fluid - though I am not sure how I feel about the "new" look. Perhaps it will take me a few days to get used to it. But functionally, it has been flawless - as of now.

I did change the wallpaper and there I did notice a bit of a hang. But it lasted all of 3-4 seconds. It's fine now.

Someone in a thread here mentioned about unread mails etc. Can't say I have that problem.

In sum then, no lags or shudders etc. of any kind. No problems with any of the apps installed - though I have only a few but those are the ones I use all the time.

What I will be looking at next is the battery life. I hope to god that this update does not adversely affect the battery life - though I have read (I think on Anand Tech) that it does affect the iPad4 battery somewhat (that, is minimally). I do hope that over the coming weeks Apple is able to optimize the update for its various devices.

PS: Today has been an eventful day - the iPad got updated and co-incidentally, so did my Windows phone 8!!!! Both flawlessly!

So I installed iOS 7 on my iPad mini and have no idea what all the fuss is about.

(1) I experienced lag on my mini BEFORE iOS 7. It's CPU/GPU are somewhat older. I knew this going in and it has never really bothered me. iOS 7 didn't add to this lag at all. If any, the slower animations almost mask it. It's funny - the place where I used to experience the most lag was in the Mail app. Its actually FASTER in iOS 7 imo.

(2) I much prefer the cleaner look of iOS to iOS 6. The folders are MUCH less intrusive looking and given I keep a majority of my apps in folders I think my home screen is much cleaner.

(3) All the iOS 7 features work wonderfully for me. My wife and I exchanged pics from various trips via AirDrop, updated our shared photostream dedicated to our puppy with new pics and she was using the control center flashlight a ton lol.

All-in-all, this fuss will die down. Those of you who complain just to complain will get over it. Those of you who truly hate it will move on to something different. But I believe MOST who had an initially negative reaction will actually grow to like it.

Here are some pics - not sure why everyone thinks the UI looks too colorful or feminine.....

Zero lag on my iPad mini. iOS 7 is like a breath of fresh air, I like it even better on the iPad than on the iPhone.

There are things I like better on my iPad and things I like better on my iPhone.

The new photos app is SO much better on the iPad. Really spectacular.

Whereas I like control center on my iPhone more. I just prefer the way it fills the space.

Clearly designed for the phone and not the iPad

After updating my iPad 4, I am/was afraid to update the iPhone 4S. Then I played with a friend's iPhone 5. After a minute or two it became clear that IOS is designed for the iPhone and not the iPad.

Too much wasted space.
Too much transparency and bright surfaces. (Its migraine inducing.)
Too many slow visual effects, transitions, bs pretty ware.

Biggest problem: lag and stuttering, something that has never been an issue now is seen throughout the iPad experience. I'm using an iPad 4, so there should be zero excuses for this, especially coming from such a buttery smooth experience. This is android level lag and poor optimization

Massive wasted space: why is the folder grid 3x3 like the iPhone? Last time I checked the iPad screen was a little bigger  just take one look how pathetic the iOS music app is. Huge amounts of white space and what happens when you turn it over for landscape mode? MORE WHITE SPACE. They spent no time what so ever on many aspects on the iPad user experience

I really think IOS 7 is better suited for smaller screens. On the iPad 4, the wasted space is both annoying and quite obvious.

So I installed iOS 7 on my iPad mini and have no idea what all the fuss is about.

The "increase contrast" option under accessibility supposedly decreases the transparency.

Where is the option to disable transparency?

There is some lagging but for me..I rather have this on my ipad than iphone. Mainly because I have my iphone perfectly set the way I like it. My ipad always felt like I wanted something more for it. I think this new minimalistic approach is wonderful. I just really love it. Nothing feels cluttered and it feels fresh. That's design wise. I do feel some lag like when opening up my settings to change wallpaper or time.

There is always going to be complaints and issues whenever something new comes out but change is a good thing.
