5th GPU Core.
Haven’t both the pro and pro max got 5 GPU cores?

I think for anyone who does a lot of gaming on their phones the pro max is the obvious
As with the OP, I have found myself faced with the dilemma of downsizing from a max, having had a max variant every year since they first introduced them.

I have an iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) and an iPad Mini 6 and -until yesterday- I had an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I now have a 13 Pro and it feels strange.

I’m not convinced I am missing the loss of screen real estate, but the smaller form factor feels strange.

I am going to give it until next weekend to see if I can adjust to the 13 Pro. If not, I will return it for a 13 Pro Max.

Which did you go with in the end?

i went through a weird phase where i had the 11pm and felt the big phone fatigue , got the 12 mini and loved it but hated the battery and the 4 gigs of ram so i returned it and kept using the 11pm.. i grew to appreciate the battery and size and decided the max is the best option so i opted for the 13 pm and feel great about my decision

This past Monday I received my 1tb sierra blue pro max, and I love it. With case and screen protector, It's the heaviest phone I've ever held, and I'm coming from a 512gb Samsung Glaxy Note 10+. The battery life is amazing, as it should be, for such a large phone. The phone speakers are also top notch. They make the Note's speakers sound tinny in comparison. I'm still in the process of transferring my apps over to ios, but I'm enjoying the transition.

I ran the 12 Pro Max and 13 Pro side by side and found the display colours and response fluidity of the 13 Pro to be so much more enjoyable. I also found the 13 Pro to be more comfortable in hand and nicely balanced in comparison.

So, I sold my 12 PM last night and the 13 Pro remains!

This is where I ended up as well. I sold my 12 PM and am using my X until the 13 PRO arrives. Like having the smaller footprint again!

I had the 6s plus and 7 plus and both times regretted them and sold them for the regular sized. since then I've been buying the regular sized phones and had a x, 12 pro, and now the 13 pro.

One hand usability FTW !

I don't know if anyone else has had the same perception of the 13 Pro Max size. When I am using the 13 Pro Max, I don't notice the size and weight. However, it isn't until I put it down that I even notice the size. I still love all the benefits of the larger screen and battery of the 13 Pro Max.
This. I’m coming from an XS with the Apple battery case and the Max feels lighter and easier to handle. I returned a regular 13 because it didn’t feel like much of an upgrade over the XS.

The Pro Max just feels like the size an iPhone should’ve always been.

I never thought I'd use 13PM for more than 2 weeks unlike what I did to 11PM-sold it couple of days as I wasn't satisfied with the battery
But 13PM is another league of iPhone though it is heavy,I like the form factor

Battery life is as good or even better than mate 20 x and mate 30 pro

Had the 11pro max, was very happy with size weight and how it felt in the hand (never put in case).
Received 13pro max. After 10 days exchanged for 13pro. PM felt too big and uncomfortable in hand.
13pro Max is the Cadillac Escalade
13pro is the Porsche 911
Drove both and went with the Porsche…
Are you still using the Pro and if so, how are you liking the smaller size?

Long time lurker, hardly a poster but needed to share my experience on this thread which I have been following closely since I upgraded from my 12 Pro Max to a 13 Pro Max last week. I have had Max phones since the XS Max was released and prior to that the Plus sized phones. My main justification was for the slight improvements in the cameras and screen real estate.
Last year when I upgraded from the 11 Pro Max to the 12 Pro Max I did notice a pretty significant weight increase which was borderline uncomfortable but I "got used to it". This year, I did a lot of research around the 13 Pro Max and weight increase and decided to upgrade to the 13 Pro Max since on paper and specs the weight increase seemed minimal.
I used the 13 Pro Max for about a week and just could not get used to the weight, however the screen is incredible. As my eyes get old I can appreciate the larger screen real estate but the weight was starting to become an issue. Balancing the phone, and my wrist and pinky got "tired".
Luckily I upgraded my wife from the 11 Pro Max to the 13 Pro and she was on the fence about downsizing but after a few days she couldn't be happier, and that's saying a lot coming from her :)
I found myself picking up her phone to make sure I could give up the screen size ... and yesterday I sold my 13 Pro Max and opted for a 13 Pro .... and couldn't be happier.
The weight is perfectly distributed, camera is just as great as the max, battery life has been incredible so far.

Hope this helps someone else in the same boat, but this is MY experience and YMMV, it's really a personal preference and sometimes you have to go and try it out to see what works and what doesn't for YOU.
Are you still enjoying using the Pro? I’m very much on the fence this year about what to do. I love my 12 Pro Max, but, just like everyone else says, the weight is really the only drawback. As nice as this year’s Pro is, I’m just not sure I’d like going smaller.

What phone did you end up with?

Is it comfortable using the Pro Max with one hand?

I decided to try the Pro Max since it felt at the Apple Store in the hand somehow lighter than the Pro, I suppose because of the weight distribution. I can actually use the Pro Max with one hand without problems. I really didn't aspected that I would find the Pro Max comfortable to use, my hands are small. I don't know if I will keep the Pro Max because I never thought I would need the larger battery and screen. But I found the Pro to be heavy, that's because I originally bought the (normal) 13. Yes, 30 grams difference are VERY noticeable – in the hand as in the pocket. But with the Pro Max I don't have this problem for now – I know, it's paradox. But, again, I actually want the better cam. I hate myself because of this decision, this is very frustrating ??‍♂️.

Is it comfortable using the Pro Max with one hand?

Coming from an iPhone 12, it was not comfortable initially.

Incredibly heavy and the mirror finished stainless steel edges, smudges so easily.

Getting a good case really helps.

Although I have always had my iPhones in a casing, this is the first time it felt absolutely necessary. Not only for drop protection but more so, how it changes the way my iPhone 13 Pro Max felt in the hand.

Also this is the first time trying one of those liquid silicone casing. Really impress with the fit and finish of the product.

Even with an awesome casing. I was convinced the iPhone 13 Pro Max was undeniably a two-handed device.

But on the 12 or 13 day, when lying in bed, not even thinking about it, I realised that I was using my iPhone one handed, typing away, relatively smoothly, with ease.

Was pretty surprised actually.

Was not planning for it, never practiced for it, yet it happened.

Just goes to show how adaptable our bodies are!

A friend of mine has a 12 Pro Max and handling that I realise I have no desire to ever go back to owning a phone that size. If you want a big phone and are willing to adapt then great, but I prefer the portability of the 12 sized iPhones now. I’ve got an iPad if I want a bigger screen and have no need to carry that around with me.

Just go with what works for you. If one size appealed to all then everybody would buy the one particular size. Enjoy.

I find the Max line too big and heavy, I much prefer the regular 13 Pro.

I guess it depends if your bigger build with bigger hands etc.

I like to transition from Watch to iPhone to iPad as needed but obviously this is only possible at home.

My Z Fold is a great in-between device but its android so…….you know.
