I’ve had the max. I do love it! But it doesn’t love me! It hurts my hands, sags my pockets, and awkward at the gym, and in 6-5”… lol
Team 13 Pro! (Unless I change my mind during the night) lol
This. I love the screen but the heft is real. I live in hybrid shorts and man.. I also feel the weight on my fingers because of how I hold the phone.. bottom resting on a pinky. I’m not a small guy.. I’m the same size as a typical college strong safety.. but not quite as low bodyfat %. 😎... for perspective. I think I’m going 13 Pro, especially with the improvements in battery. The good thing is Apple has a great return/exchange policy. I do plan on buying an iPad Mini for travel/media consumption.

My pinky actually hurts a lot of the time now because of holding my phone like that.. Over the past few weeks I've been trying to shift away although it really is the best method

I've owned every iPhone since 2007, this is the first time I'm going with the biggest size.

I'm in my mid 30s. I don't go out much anymore, even before COVID happened. And I work at home 3 days a week. 99% of the time I play on my phone in bed or as I walk around the house. Gimme dat Max screen size, in dat clean silver color design plz.

My husband is a tall guy and has no such concerns. If they turn the iPad mini into a phone he’d be thrilled. :D
I use iPad way more than iPhone because of the truly BIG screen that iPhone will NEVER get. No, folding iPhone will not reach that level. I too wish iPad could just make phone call and receive text message on its own instead of tethering to an iPhone. I might still get a pro max but if I want I can easily go small iPhone and barely notice any difference since I don't use it lol.

I’ve recently lost my iPhone 12 Pro max three weeks ago. Using my back up iPhone 11 Pro and I must say I the comfort is awesome. Walking with gym shorts at the gym is life lol. But, I honestly miss my battery. I’m going to have to go back to the max.

I’m copying this post of mine in from another thread that died off. Help me decide what to do…

I can’t decide. I haven’t had a plus/max size phone since the 8. I’m currently using an XS with a cracked screen and I’m ready for a new toy.

I’m leaning towards the Max because I use Navionics+ and a few other boating map apps and a bigger screen would really help. However I think I may be in the “get an iPad mini” camp as that would be good for not only the boat charts but also Foreflight.

The main holdup there is that the iPad mini is not water resistant (my boat is small and open) and doesn’t rock the 1000 nits of screen brightness like the pro so it will be harder to read in daylight. Also, if I get the iPad, do I even need the pro or would the non-pro be just fine. First world probs, right?

Anyway, Ive been doing this math since the rumors about what we were getting were out and I’m stuck in analysis paralysis. I can’t bring myself to commit to any of the options.

I do remember being somewhat annoyed by the pocketability of the 8+ and I’m a little concerned about the weight on all these pros, but having a phone that lasts all day again would be amazing.

tell me what to do!

I'm thinking get a Pro for when you need to be very mobile, and a Pro Max for times when you need the absolute most iPhone screen real estate.

A lot of people have 2 or 3 phones now in regular rotation based on needs of the moment. Don't dismiss the idea.

In my opinion, the main decision factor should be the way you are used to handle a mobile phone. If you are used to one hand usage (which in general is more convenient when typing) then you need to make sure your hands are big enough to cover most of the screen area. Personally, after using big phones for years I can’t go back to the regular models but this doesn’t mean big iPhones are a good option for everyone.

cant believe on specs, that the pro 13 is better in battery life than an 11/12 pro max
So , here , those who likes their 11/12 pro max battery life, now they can go with the normal size 13 pro and not lose battery...lets see if this is true in real life, but still, even if it gets close to the 11/12 max battery level, its impressive

Also cant wait to see the mini versus...i mean the 13 mini can be from the average battery life that the 12 mini has it, to a good battery life for its size

I haven’t seen anything stating that the regular 6.1inch iPhone 13 Pro has better, or even the same battery life as the 11 pro max/12 pro max. I’m not doubting you, but do you have a link to that info please?

I’m currently in analysis hell too. I had the iPhone XS Max for just over a year, then upgraded to the 12 Pro max last year. I Love the the big display as I use my phone as my everything phone, I.e watching video’s, reading books, watching episodes of TV shows if I’m not at home and haven’t taken my iPad with me. I also love the extra battery life that the max versions give me. And the only downsides to the max versions for me are: I can feel my phone against my leg in my jeans pockets, my jeans and joggers will sag a little on the side that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is in. The phone can be a bit uncomfortable at times.

the benefits of the max versions for me are: Much bigger displays for watching videos on and reading books on, this year the 120hz pro motion display will look beautiful on the max version, the battery life is better.

I have tried a friends 12 pro and it does feel really nice in the hand. And, it’s very comfortable to use with one hand. However, I rarely need to use my phone with one hand.

I’ve got 2 and a half hours until ore order to decide on which one to get. I’m leaning toward the pro max because I know that I’ll definitely miss the bigger display. However, I’m thinking of the comfort of the regular 6.1inch 13 pro.

with the comment I quoted above stating the battery life on the regular 13 pro is going to be better than the 11 and 12 pro max im even more undecided.

I did buy the 12 Pro last year and sent it back after a week and had the 12 Pro max instead.

I think I might hold off pre-ordering this year. I’d like to see some reviews regarding the extra weight of the iPhone 13 pro max and the battery life of both the pro models.

My finger is already on the trigger though. And I want! my 13 pro/pro max asap. Lol.

Apples own comparison tool shows the iPhone 13 Pro having better expected battery life than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Would link you but the site is down now for the pre-order.

I have had the Max models previously but for me the new 12 Pro Max was just very awkward to hold , I felt like I was holding a small iPad when I was using it and this is not a feeling I want when using a phone when I am out of the house or at work. Balancing the Max on the pinky or just holding it for longer periods of time strained my hands + the regular pro I could comfortably fit in a back pocket when walking around , the max will not fit. With phones getting heavier and heavier I don't see myself going back to Max for a while.

I don’t tend to pre-order so I’ll definitely be waiting a while to see what the reviews say and hear how people are finding the camera.

I hate the thought of a phone that isn’t pocket sized but I also know I’d appreciate the extra screen size when using it. It’s a dilemma!

It's between the mini and the pro for me the max is nice but to big to handle day to day been there don't that.

No I have a mini I gave to the wife so I am thinking the pro this time around.

Thanks for the reply. I’m still undecided on wether to go for the 13 pro or the 13 pro max. I think the fact that I was in this exact same situation last year says something. I ordered the 12 pro last year, and I liked it, but I returned it after a week and had the 12 pro max. However, I was so torn between the two, that, even when I was packaging the 12 pro up ready to send back, and on the way to the post office I was still unsure if I’d made the right decision by having the max version.

And, all throughout the year I’ve been looking at the smaller 12 pro wondering if that would be better for me. The regular 12 pro felt like it was a natural extension of my hand when I held it. With the 12 pro max I can be out walking my dog, see a Robin or a hawk and when I go to take a photo my phone is nearly falling out of my hand. With the 12 pro I had for a week, I could pull it if my pocket and take a photo quickly and comfortably.

My mind is telling me to get the 13 pro. It would be more comfortable to use, easier to handle, I wouldn’t feel it digging into my leg when it’s in my jeans pocket, and, it would be much better for when I go jogging.

My heart, on the other hand is telling me to get the 13 pro max. Because the display is bigger so it’ll be more useful for watching videos, reading etc, kind of like my everything device as my 12 pro max is now. And, I do think that I would miss the bigger display. The question I’ve asked myself is: Would I get used to the 6.1inch display on the 13 pro. And, I honestly don’t know if I would or not. Then there’s the 120hz display that will look better on the max version, plus even better battery life than the 13 pro. And, longevity. I feel like the max version would age better. Better battery means less time charging, means the battery will age s bit better. And, I think we’re heading into a world where phones with bigger displays are the norm.

I have an iPad so I could use that at home, but I do appreciate the bigger display on the max version when I’m out and about. Whilst waiting for a train for example. If I’m waiting for a train, having the max version comes in very handy as a sort of mini iPad.

I’m genuinely torn between the 2.

The only thing I’m certain of regarding the iPhone 13 pro or pro max…. Is that I just can’t pre order this year. I’m so torn between the pro or pro max that I’m just going to have to wait and watch some reviews first.

Did you LIKE the Max when you had it? WHAT made you go back to the smaller size? Do you like the smaller sizes you've had since??

I’m going to try as hard as I can not to pre-order. I really want to ore-order, but I’m just too torn between the 2. The 12 pro max is already heavy and hefty, so I don’t know if the 13 pro max would tip the balance of being just too big for me.

With the iPhone 12 I thought I'd downsize from Max to regular Pro for similar reasons. Ended up replacing with a Max because I missed it more than I thought I would. I resolved to just stick with the Max after that.
