That only gives you about 9 months of use vs the usual 12 before the new model comes out. If you're on an iPhone 11/12/13 that might be more than enough reason to hold off.

Or, how about you get the phone you need at the time you need it? Not everyone is updating their phone every year. And for those of us who hold onto our phones for 3+ years, the difference between 14 vs 15 is smaller than the difference between their old phone and the 14.

I got my 12 mini in May. Yes, I knew a newer one was going to come soon (whatever that means). I also knew that I wasn't going to miss out on anything world shattering if I didn't wait. At that time, I needed a new phone. For some, USB-C might be that important. For others, it isn't. Not all of us have an inherent desire to always have the newest and latest and shiniest. Some of us are content with merely getting what we actually need.

I know we're talking about a phone that's not coming out for another 10 months, so I hope some of these rumors aren't correct. But I think Apple needs to stop this fragmentation before it gets too out of hand. The first thing SJ did when returning to Apple, was to eliminate all the superfluous products, and streamline the remaining ones. The only difference between the iPhones, should be screen and battery size. Storage options, processor, camera, etc. should be the same on all iPhones. I don't want to have to buy, what is not far from an ipad mini with phone functionality in order to get the best camera, or storage options.
That would be great in an ideal world, but the reality is a bigger phone means more space for more hardware. The phone with the smallest size is the lowest common denominator. So it makes sense for the larger phone to have more features. And not just a bigger battery. If you want Apple to fill the extra space ONLY with battery, then that is asking Apple to arbitrarily withhold features from the larger phone so that people who like the smaller phone don’t get FOMO. Apple has done that in the past, and they may do it again, but I don’t think it’s a reasonable thing to want as a consumer, because as long as Apple is making the best phone they can in the size that you prefer, what does it matter to you if a larger phone with more features exists for people who want to make that sacrifice in portability? That doesn’t make logical sense.
And this is coming from someone who hates big phones.

Reasons not to get the iPhone 15 Ultra and reason I'm glad I got an iPhone 14 Pro Max:

1. No USB-C.

I'll get 2-3 years out of this phone before having to transition to USB-C for my phone when I have so many Lightning cables and related accessories. Especially since my AirPods case is still Lightning.

Also, Deep Purple. 😉

My oldest daughter has been using a 14 Pro Max for six weeks now, and she complained today about frequent issues with Bluetooth. The phone frequently switches her calls from her AirPods (new AirPods Pro 2) to the phone's speaker. It also drops calls when it switches from her car's Bluetooth connection to the phone (when turning off the ignition). It doesn't have any problems with dropping calls however, going from the phone to the car's Bluetooth, when starting the car. She also experiences call drop issues which seem to be related to the eSIM (AT&T).

None of these situations were an issue with her old 11 Pro Max (with the old AirPods Pro). And yes, she's running iOS 16.1.2, and the latest firmware on the AirPods. Disappointing.

These 15 pro rumors actually “discourage” me from wanting one.

- only the best camera on the heaviest brick?
- solid state buttons?

if anyone is bummed they can’t get a 14pro, just hold out another month, they’ll make more. They’ll still be great phones in January.

Samsung and Google do the same thing, like the S22 Ultra and the Pixel 7 Pro

There are lots of Androids that don't do the same thing. Go to them. Not everything Android related is Samsung and Google only. Hell there's better Android phones than Samsung and Google's.

Did I ever say that everyone should update every year? In fact all the models I listed are several years old.

If you look at the Samsung Ultra, the Periscope zoom is at least twice as large as the regular cameras so putting it in the regular phones means a larger and heavier battery to not have worse battery life than the 14.

Sounds like a fantastic phone if the rumors are true.
As Marques Brownlee likes to say "expectations are the thieves of joy".

I think the 15 is just too good to be true. I expect MacRumors to tell us in March or June, via Ming Chi 'making-it-up-as-I-go-along' Kuo that there has been some last minute changes and many of these features will not arrive as we now think.

But why not wait for the 16 Ultra Max instead? Or the 17 Super Mega?
The iP15 will introduce breaking changes. Fast USB-C charging and USB-C will be there for the next 10 years, while Lightning is already outdated today.

What @MacRumors forgot to mention, the iP15 will also feature the brand new Sony sensor - this sensor is another major change, so if you plan to use you iP for some years … safe your money!

A SIM board and a USB interface are not that different from an assembly standpoint.
They absolutely are from a consumer standpoint though.

At the end of the day there's nothing to suggest that Apple is going to differentiate the single port on the phone for one region (except for all the random posters on this board for some reason).

Oh damn. I just saw my future money leaving my wallet. I can confirm that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is a way lame upgrade from the iPhone 14 Pro Max. I just didn’t want to be left holding the bag when the battery health dropped below 90%. 🙊

iPhone 14 Pro Max order date - 30 September, 2022
Still waiting.....
Maybe by the moment I get it, it will transform itself into iPhone 15 Pro Max Ultra Super Duper Mega Top...:mad::mad:

Crazy thought, how about focusing on improving the mess of a software instead of releasing new iPhones every year and make the new iPhone release an every-other-year thing?

I know I gave Apple a good laugh but someone had to say it.

I know technology will not allow it, but the camera bump is just disgusting to look at or have. I'll never get used to it, but I understand its necessary for better quality. I would love a smooth back no bump no nothing, but oh well. Maybe in 5 or 10 years something will be invented to make it happen.

Hoooo baby I cannot wait for this phone. USB-C is that big of a deal to get me to upgrade from my 13 Pro. We should've been on USB-C three years ago.

Well better late than never.
I can't wait to see what new item people whine about personally...

So few people seem not to get this, personal I hope we are only a couple of years away from portless.
