I gave it a try with the white one. It's just too loose. Not a firm fit all around. The bottom didn't droop, but its the weakest point on the case.

I tried the Agent 18 clear. Worse case I've ever used so far. Its far too flimsy. It opens right up with hardly any effort. Not a very firm fit, and I can guarantee it will scratch up your bezel within weeks of using it. They should have stuck with the old design. Much sturdier and stronger fit and lock.

AH! Conflicting reports!!!

Smacky, what were you trying to put it over? Bodyguardz or another similar thing?

chrjohns, Did you have any problems with it? I have Bodyguards on mine (front and back) and it isn't as thick as the invisible shield stuff is...

I really do hope it fits well with the BodyGuardz. I have the front so far, haven't placed the back yet...let us know if it does fit.

Ok I've still yet to receive my white replacement without the droopy issue. They mailed it off on the 30th and I got a tracking number from the USPS but it seems that on the 2nd and the 4th it made it to a Location in NJ and stuck there now but not sure. Anyone else get their replacement in a timely manner or just floating off on USPS land?

Just got my Arctic case in the mail (ordered last Thursday evening and it was delivered to the east coast fwiw) for my black iPhone 3G. Mine fits just fine and the bottom doesn't sag. It's not rigid and will move if you mess with it, but it doesn't sag down or anything like that.
I did notice, however, if I put the spine on by snapping the top first, the bottom will droop and sag. If I snap the bottom first, it fits just fine. So maybe this is what some people are experiencing?

The color of the case is of course different than I originally thought, but looks a little better in person than I feared it would. I'm not 100% happy with the color, but I don't dislike it by any means.

I think aside from the color, I don't have any real complaints. I don't care for how the case tends to stick to the back of the iPhone in certain spots and thus makes dark spots in it, but that's not a huge deal. It adds very little bulk (less than I thought it might) so I'm very happy about that, and it's not too slippery like I hear a lot of people say. I'd say it feels about right- not as sticky as a silicon case, but not as slick as the naked phone.

When I get off work in a couple hours I'll try to take a few pics to upload

I really had no problem whatsoever getting the case on. Not sure I like the arctic on the my black iPhone though.

it's actually pretty difficult to get a good quality image that accurately captures how the skeleton part of the Arctic case looks... it doesn't look as clear as it appears in these pics due to the flash I think, even though I used a make-shift softbox.

If you look at the edge on the front pic, you'll see where it looks very silver-ish. That is more what it looks like in person instead of being as deep black as what you see here.

I had Bodyguardz on the front and back
I could get the rubber piece on, but you could tell it was too wide because the bezel was showing and the spine was a very tough fit
So I took the back off and now it fits as intended, no extra pressure on the volume buttons or anything
It just depends on the rubber piece you get I guess

(but I left the front bodyguardz cover on)

How long after ordering does it usually take until you get your case? I ordered today (wed) but will be leaving for a trip on tuesday next wk and was hoping to get it before I leave.

Shipping time to Canada?

Does anyone know how long it takes to ship to Canada? I ordered my case on July 26th, but it hasn't arrived yet. I wasn't issued a tracking number (only a delivery confirmation number), and SwitchEasy replied to my query with a vague non-answer. Thanks.

I emailed SwitchEasy since I currently have only the front on for BG and they told me that I shouldn't put the back cover on.

Is it bulky? The pictures make it seem that way.

Another defective sagging case here...

black, sags on bottom a lot, and on left side a little. Ordered 08/01/08

emailed them today. We will see.

The case is incompatible with BSE backing. It needs some modification to allow the buttons to be fully touched by the inside of the case.

A bit, but I prefer it over my previous silicone case since it doesnt attract dust and is easier to slip into pockets. Plus it just feels more solid, like peace of mind that unless u drop it from a really high place, it will survive all the day to day knocks and bumps

Ok i just got the vision clip and it works!! It is pretty easy to put in but a little difficult to get out. You can only put it in with the screen facing away form you but all i needed was a clip and it works great:D

Been using mine for a few days now, so I can offer up a bit more of a review.

Fit and Finish: pretty good. I was hoping for a little higher quality plastic, as the one used gets micro scratches easily. My volume buttons are a little off with the cover, it just seems like they didn't make the cutout for them deep enough so it pushes out slightly. My bottom is a tiny bit loose, but not terrible. Overall if feels very nice and solid on the phone.

Ease of use: Easily goes in and out of my pockets all day, no worries there.

Size/Bulk: Obviously adds some, but carries it well. overall bulk is fairly minimum.

Overall: The best case I've seen/used by far. The small imperfections are outweighed by the ease of use and small bulk factor. It looks and feels like there isn't some crazy ass case on there which is a plus. My biggest complaint is the scratching on the plastic "spine" and the dust that seems to collect in the small openings of the case (vibrate switch, speaker area).

I'm keeping mine on for now, might switch back to naked later down the road.

So I just got mine (Black) and am for the most part happy with it.

Two questions though. First, does anyone's case fit 100% tight around the bottom and top left? Mine fits fairly well, but the bottom and top left are not as tight fitting as the top right or any other sections of the silicone part of the case. Secondly, how well are returns handled at SwitchEasy? Do I have to pay the shipping fee for the new case / send the old one back, etc.?

Thanks a bunch :)

I was just going to come on and report back on my returns experience with them.

So I guess I was among the first to recieve the case. I ordered it shortly after they were first available. I've been using mine (Black) for a while now but just recently emailed the guys at SwitchEasy about the now commonly known issues with their cases.

Anyways, the first email is the vague "Send case back to SF. Contact Zoltan." vague email. So I emailed Zoltan asking for more details and he replied about an hour later saying that i did NOT have to send the defective case back. So im relieved I did not have to eat the cost of shipping them back their defective product. I just gave the guy my shipping info and he said I should have it within the next 5 or so business days.

Great service. These guys stand by their product.

Update: Ordered right when these things were announced and never got any kind of confirmation other than a pay pal email reciept. Opened my mailbox today (about 5pm Pacific) and to my surprise there it was!

I'll work on getting some pics posted but here is my initial summary:

I am moving from an Agent 18 eco case (black) which in itself is ok and I feel like my iPhone is safe in it but wanted something that seemed a little more sturdy and long lasting thus the reason for me ordering the Capsule Rebel (black).

Im really particular with my cases for ANY device (went through 5, yes 5! cases for my PSP before I settled on one) so I tend to over examine these things in some people's eyes so keep that in mind.

The case is packaged very nice in a plastic clamshell with the case and exo skeleton seperate from the accessories (in their own box) at the bottom of the package.

In my haste (I was rushing out the door) I took off my Agent 18 and popped on (per the quick instructions on the package) the Capsule Rebel.

My thoughts:

Positive:

- The case is really pretty, I mean you will get people asking you what case you have (it is that different looking).

- Clearly this is not silicone, just as stated it is a different material and feels very nice to the touch and vould appear more durable.

- The case covers the docking port (through a seperate plug), volume buttons and power buttons.

- The built in covers for the buttons are super comfortable and make it verry easy to adjust volume and/or power on or put to sleep your iPhone.

- The rounded plastic edges seem very sturdy and should protect well against drops.

Negative:

- I felt pretty uncomfortable snapping the exo skelleton on to my iPhone. Yes the interior shell covers the iPhone and the exo skelleton snaps on to that but it still made me feel like I was going to scratch the bezel putting this thing on.

- The case covers much less of the face of the iPhone than even my Agent 18. So much less that you can see the seams between the screen and the iphone itself.

** The Deal breaker for me:

- The case fit the iPhone very well except at the bottom by the home button. No matter what I tried the case would not sit flush to the bottom therefore slightly exposing the bezel. Now its possible this could be just my case, I did pull it out of a very HOT mailbox and maybe the case warped shape?? But either way this left me with a very uneasy feeling.

Like I mentioned at the beginning of writing this, I put the case on as I was leaving my home to go to the store and the whole time I was out I just did not feel comfortable with the case on. While I was out I tried re adjusting the case to get it to fit correctly at the bottom but no such luck. As soon as I got home I removed the case from my iPhone which was a massive effort (unsnapping the exo skelleton took force and felt like I was going to scratch the bezel but thankfully got it off without issue.

Again, I am very obsessive with my cases so maybe I am over examining this. I will say I had very high hopes for this case, so much that I ordered a white one as well! Again, the case is beautiful and comes with a ton of extras but just did not give me a secure feeling. :(

Unfortunatelly, it looks like I will be selling both and waiting for my next case to come (iSkin Revo2).

Until then the Agent 18 stays on my iPhone.

Again, I will work on posting pics as soon as I can.

I just got my revo2. Don't quite like it. Then this Capsule Rebel caught my attention. Would you care to explina more about how it doesn't fit on the bottom?

Lol, I recently returned my Capsule Rebel due to sagging/poor fit and have recently ordered a revo2 :) It's pot luck if you get one that fits properly or not and don't get the black one as the plastic scratches unbelievably easily.

so my search for the perfect case continues.....so far I have not heard any single case that's absolutely no negative feedback. In the end, I might as well just go naked.

It seems there is no such thing as a perfect case. Why is it so difficult to make a decent case??!! I haven't received my Capsule Rebel yet. I hope i'll be happy with it. I'd rather go naked but it's a given that i'll drop the phone. I'm very careful with my stuff but i just have a feeling that as much as the phone will be handled, the likeliness of it dropping are high.

White Rebel capsule

I just got the rebel capsule and I love the case!!! It's really well designed. The pics are not that great but here they go.

Another happy Capsule Rebel owner. Just received my Arctic version which I got of the local ebay (ebay.de). Perfect fit, no sagging whatsoever.

Looks are decent - nowhere near as clear as on some of Switcheasy's pictures, elbirth's softbox shots are very close to how mine looks (on a black 16GB). I did not use the included screen protectors since I've been using Brando's excellent Ultraclear for quite a while (on all my gadgets - I wish they would offer an Ultraclear for my Legend HCx) - it's practically invisible.

I got my iPhone on July 12th and the back shows some scratches which I don't really mind (it's a phone and it will most likely be replaced in two years... and no: I will not start searching for micro cracks), however, the little bugger becomes quite slippery after a days work (i.e. a days amount of greasy fingers) and it is only a matter of time before I'll drop it. The Capsule Rebel seems to be giving it a fighting chance to survive a larger impact - much better than the Artwizz leather pouch I kept it in for the last two weeks (which still is a a very good pouch - nice and simple).

The only things I dislike so far are the "front side looks" - somehow the elevated part around the screen takes away some of the "industrial design" - and the fact that some moisture seems to be trapped between the iPhone's back and the rubbery/soft part of the case. I hope this will be gone by tomorrow.

All in all: 8/10 with 10/10 being the naked iPhone in a scratch and impact resistant version and 9/10 being the invisible and bulkless ubercase. :)

Cheers,
Dembo

jprincesa,

Do they now have a Vision Clip for the Capsule Rebel? I don't see it on the web site.

I also like to carry mine on my pants waist, so that would be great.

Mine did not fit properly with BodyGuardz all around. The plastic spine would stretch out the rubbery part at the bottom corners because the phone was overall about 1mm thicker due to the bodyguardz on front and back. Also, the black plastic 'spine' was scratched to hell within 2 hours of use. EXCELLENT PROTECTION THOUGH
