Wow, you guys are nuts.
Remind me not to ever come back here again, k?

What the **** would you need a gun for?
Trust me, my town isn't perfect and, yes, there are robberies/murders but I would never carry a gun.

Just my 17 year old mind.

There's nothing wrong with carrying a gun as long as you have the proper training and permits to carry it. It's fine that you would never carry a gun I don't either but that doesn't mean that other people shouldn't. As for some of the posts here they are exaggerating somewhat :) So I wouldn't be put off by the posts.

But WHY?

Do you plan to, should the situation dictate, shoot somebody?
I could never.

To Jessica (Post #33)

Apple does have such a program at least in part. It's called "Find my Phone" and it works with a Mobile Me account. You can put any message you want on the phone through this program, and lock it and even wipe it.

I live in a concealed carry state. Nobody's going to take my iPhone.

Thats why i use my old iPod for music, other then the fact the iPhone's iPod app sucks, and drains the battery.

Nobody has stolen my iPod in almost 8 years of ownership. Heck i never see my model out and about anymore.

Doubtful... People who legally carry guns have to go through a FBI background check and have a clean history. Odds are the person who has been a good American throughout their life, abides by the laws, passes teh background check, takes the class, qualifies in shooting and now has a license is not going to be the thug snatching iphones.

Then why do you need a gun? Are you not capable of defending yourself without one?

To defend my life or that of my loved ones from an aggressor, yes. I hope it never happens, but should it, I choose to be prepared for the eventuality.

You are 17... when you grow up and see the world, you will change your mind. I have been robbed at gunpoint and wont ever let that crap happen again.

If you dont go out causing trouble...you wont have to worry about someone legally carrying a gun. The problem today is the youth of today has a sense of entitlement. They want want want and if they dont get, they will do what they have to.

Don't waste your time...sheep will always be sheep.

If someone is trying to steal your iphone do you think they care whether the gun they carry is legal or not?

Yeah...Im no karate master. If someone brings a knife to a fist fight...what are you going to do. If someone brings a gun to rob you...what are you going to do? If someone has a gun and decides he wants your mom/girlfriend to rape..what you going to do...NOTHING. I have a gun, and I am not afraid to defend myself or my family.

People like to steal shiny things. This isn't new. Unfortunate, but not new.

Back in the day of Sony Walkman's, those were stolen all the time as well. And those were bright yellow and clipped onto your jeans. You could see those things coming a block away.

Cause you know, criminals care what the law says. I mean they would really pay attention that the law told them they couldn't carry a gun. That's why they are breaking the law to steal some one's property. Because they're just that law abiding.

That being said I am for needing a license for a gun but allowing htem to be legal. But I dislike guns myself *shrug*. I just think that honestly they are some people's hobby and just cause it is deadly does not mean it should be illegal. So are cars and knives. I could easily kill some one with a knife. Shall we ban them too? And how are we going to cook without them?

Personally, instead of banning "deadly weapons", why not address the cause of the crime and try to reduce the circumstances that create crime? Fight the cause, not the symptom.

Because aggressive animals tend to travel in packs.

It's funny how people who live where they claim there is never any crime are the ones who feel like they need to carry guns and that they know all about urban areas and how to handle themselves there. It's the same kind of thinking that makes me shake my head when people bomb an abortion clinic, killing doctors to promote the "Right to Life".

I dont think you get the idea. You take my phone and you will be catching bullets. The whole point of concealed carry is you dont know who has a gun. you take your chances.

I had a situation two weekends ago. Some guys decided to walk into my garage and take a weedeater and leaf blower. Was that worth killing someone over? No... My girlfriend and her family was in the house when this happened. I drove up as they were walking back to their car. I tried to box them in and stop them but quite make it. If they had a gun in their hand, and walking towards me (next to their car) I would have shot them no questions asked.

Most people that commit petty property crimes such as phone or purse snatching do so without a firearm. They will threaten people with screwdrivers or knives though (See e.g. the aforementioned Bernard Goetz.)

If they are at the point in their criminal career that they are using guns then it is usually for something a little more significant than an iPhone because once that gun comes out the stakes are so much higher legally. I'm sure there are exceptions, but for the most part this is what crime stats show.

Because I refuse to be a victim, and yes I do plan on it if the situation dictates and I will not hesitate.

Being a combat veteran, it's not hard. Every person that shot at me is no longer among the living and I'm posting on the Internet. :D

It's not a macho or gung-ho trigger happy thing. It's the right to defend yourself and not be victimized by criminals. I choose to be fully prepared to maintain my well being and not rely on someone else to do it.

It's the greatest right we have, all others depend on it.

I dont think you are understanding my statement. A person who legally carries a gun is LESS likely to commit a crime than a person. People who have criminal backgrounds cannot legally carry a gun. Go look up some statistics. Crimes in Texas went way down after CHL laws were passed.
