The only think I noticed is one time I drove the car it did not connect. I presume this is because my phone was connected to my home wifi network. What is the standard way to deal with that... select don't connect automatically to home wifi?
I really hope that isn't necessary for reliable connectivity when leaving one's home. Disabling auto-connect on your home WiFi would likely cause to you to stay on cellular data when you RETURN home. I would argue that would be worse. It seems like the typical guidance is to disconnect and reconnect the Carlinkit after you've left your home WiFi's signal range.
I'm really surprised that wireless CarPlay has to "monopolize" your phone's WiFi. I would have expected it would use WiFi Direct, which allows setting up a point-to-point (ad hoc) WiFi connection alongside the "regular" WiFi connection to an infrastructure mode device such as a router or access point. AirPlay Screen Mirroring can operate like this if you're not on the same network as the Apple TV you're trying to connect to, for example. AirDrop can do this too. If wireless CarPlay worked this way as well, then this wouldn't be an issue at all.
P.S. Greetings from a fellow Porsche owner. I have a 981 Cayman GT4.
