It's a nice touch, but I don't see the startup interface staying that way for long. It is very similar to the Pioneer demo screen that talks about CarPlay. They might take some crap for it.

I still haven't heard back from joyeauto on my rather pointed questions regarding that "new" wireless CarPlay adapter.

I’ve txt the same to them now about the same interface. Must all be the same in my opinion then.

As mine has never worked, what is the startup screen for/do? I thought it just went from there straight to the CarPlay interface?

Right so I just did the USB update to the 08.28 image, interface was the same old one. Then I checked the OTA and it said I need to update but thats put me at the 08.22 version.

What am I missing? I was looking forward to a new interface.

Just in case they might have pulled it and uploaded a version with the old interface, try this image. As always, unzip it first.

The startup screen is for setting up your initial CarPlay connection.

Same thing here. It booted up like a rocket ship so I couldn't even tell if it had a new interface. I am getting the upgrade to 8.22 as well, I was running 8.10 which I believe was the last OTA. Looks like 8.22 is now the latest OTA. I have no idea what I am running now. USB update with the 8.28 file seemed to work flawlessly. Doesn't make sense.

It looks like the screen where its actually connecting to your already-paired phone is the same/similar to before. The screen that is different is the one where it has timed out or doesn't have any active pairing (the one you showed in your photo).

I bet the OTA 08.22 version doesn't have the updated screen so that's why you are seeing the old one. Reflash the USB 08.27 version and turn off BT on your phone--then hopefully you'll see the new screen.

Why reflash?

Format the USB stick with FAT and Partition scheme "MBR / Master Boot Record"
Put the "U2W_Update.img" on the stick.
Plug it into the Carlinkit adapter and then plug the adapter into a power adapter (Preferably 10W/12W from an iPad, or something alike)
The adapter should start blinking red/green after a few seconds. Leave it plugged in for 10min or so to be safe, then plug it out and test it in the car again.

Also, maybe try a smaller USB stick (some people had problems with ones that have more than 16gig)

Thank you for your support. I have now bought an Intenso 8GB USB 2.0 stick. The Carlinkit adapter lights up yellow or green only once when it is connected to the power supply. is it right ?

So I was finally able to update to the august 22nd build, and now when I go to check for updates (to confirm it installed) its saying it needs to be activated? Has batch, and a username/password. Anyone have any ideas?

You can try flashing an older firmware, but if you keep getting the activation screen then you need to contact Carlinkit support (sales@carlinkit.com) and send them a log file. They will then generate a password for you to fill in on that page that will activate your adapter.

It was clear that "new" dongle was just a rebranded one, ah, the things they pull the sell them for a higher price!

I have just installed the latest OTA (8/22) and my Volkswagen detected the adapter as a "new iphone", I supose they changed something in the code to provide better compatibiltity.

It's nice to see the product constantly improving :)

I reflashed using the zip file posted above. Same result - "Update Available to 8.22", so I did an OTA update to 8.22. I'll leave it be. I am sure the "new" interface is coming soon OTA.

Many have worked around this by flashing an older firmware. I've got them all if you need one. I think I would try 1.22. If you try a bunch of old FW's and they don't resolve the issue, reach to Carlinkit.

Did you guys who are still seeing the old interface on 08.27 (not 08.22) try deleting the existing pairing and setting up as new? Maybe that's the only new screen, since it looks to be instructional in nature.

On a bright note, I did three updates today and didn't brick it - 2x USB and one OTA. I did something right;-)

No, but I did shut off BT and I definitely did not have the new interface. Still wondering what FW was on it.

I did mine on a spare empty dongle with no pairings...

Curious Alan and D3ggy, what firmware were you running before you attempted the 8.27/8 update?
I can’t remember tbh. Maybe d3ggy remembers

Let us know if you manage to get that method to work

@simps100 & @DarkEvilRivas - since you guys are the ones who saw the new interface, can you report what exact adapter you have (Carplay2Air, Carlinkit USB-A, or Carlinkit USB-C)?

There's got to be some pattern here. I will try flashing it later today and see what I get.
